        In this paper, rotating bending fatigue tests have been carried out in three kinds of carbon steel specimen; an annealed low carbon steel, an annealed medium carbon steel, an annealed high carbon steel and quenched-tempered high carbon steel; with a small artificial defect that might exist in real structure. Fatigue crack lengths have been observed by a method of replication in order to investigate the growth behavior of fatigue crack in the view points of strength of matevials. The main results obtained are as follows: 1) The effect of a small surface defect upon the reduction of fatigue limit is considerably large, and the rate of fatigue limit reduction of surface defect with dlia 0.?? and depth 0.5mm is larger than the surface defect of 0.1mm. 2) When the growth rate of surface crack length (2 a) was investigated, growth rate of surface crack was not related with stress level and materials, and there exist the following relationships between da/dn and σ^n_a, ie surface crack length propagated from small surface crack can be expressed as da/dn = C.,σ^n_a.(a)

      • 피로과정에 따른 저탄소강의 비선형거동에 관한 연구

        Quantitative measurements are made of the slip bands and inelastic strain behaviors of the smooth surface in low carbon steel specimens during fatigue process for the purpose of unifying two approaches of fracture problem based on crack growth and cyclic strain accumulation. The important results are as follows: The value of gradient of slipped grain ratio(λ) to cyclic bending stress (σ_a) for mild steels is nearly equal to that of the inverse exponent of work hardening in true stress and true strain curve of monotonic test. Local strain(ε_l), cyclic bending stress(σ_a) and saturated strain per a grain boundary(ε_g) can have relationships as follow: ε_l=η(σ_a)^n=λ·ε_g where λ is the ratio of the number of slipped grains to the number of total grains, η and n are constants.

      • 디젤기관의 경유-메탄올 혼합유 사용에 관한 실험적 조사

        The combustion and performance of diesel engines fueled with alcohol-diesel oil have been investigated because of its potential for low NOx and particulates emissions. One of the problems encountered in the use of alcohol-diesel oil blended fuel is the phase separation between two fuels. In this study, diesel oil and methanol were mixed compulsorily in preventing phase separation with installing agitators and a fuel oil boost pump on fuel oil line of test engine. The effects of diesel oil-methanol blended fuel on combustion characteristics and engine performance were investigated under various loads and blending ratio. The results showed that the engine performance and combustion characteristics were influenced by methanol blending ratio and variation of load. Especially, the result of 30% methanol blended fuel was different from those of other test fuels.

      • 분사율 형상에 따른 디젤기관의 연소해석에 관한 시뮬레이션

        Diesel combustion is fundamentally controlled by the mixing process of fuel with air in the combustion chamber. The injection rate shape has an important role in controlling the turbulent mixing and combustion process. Because it is difficult to change the injection rate shape freely by a experimental apparatus, its effects have not been investigated yet. Therefore, Influences of the injection rate shapes on the spray behavior, combustion characteristics and engine performance were simulated based on a two-zone thermodynamic model. It was shown that the shape with a high injection rate in the first stage of the injection period improved the air entrainment and heat release. Also, the shape with a high injection rate in the middle of the injection period improved the engine performance.

      • 가용성 폴리피롤의 합성 및 특성분석

        Dodecylbenzenesulfonate와 naphthalenesulfonic acid를 음이온도판트로 사용하고 산화제로 (NH₄)₂S₂O??을 사용하여 상온에서 가용성 폴리피롤을 화학적으로 합성하였다. 제조된 폴리피롤을 여러가지 유기용매(m-cresol, 콜로포름, NMP, DMSO등)에 녹여 free standing film을 제조하였다. 폴리피롤 free standing film은 실온에서 10??∼6S/cm의 전기전도도와 15∼20MPa의 인장강도를 나타내었다. 클로로포름, m-cresol용매에서 제조한 폴리피롤 용액은 UV-Vis./NIR 스펙트라의 측정결과 근적외선영역에서의 free carrier tail 현상을 보여주었고, 폴리피롤 free standing film은 매끈한 표면을 형성하였으며 TGA 측정결과 450℃ 부근에서의 고분자의 분해에 기인되는 중량감소를 나타내었다. 제조된 폴리피롤은 PMMA 등의 고분자와의 우수한 혼합특성을 나타내었다. Doped polypyrroles with anionic dopants, dodecylbenzenesulfonate and naphthalenesulfonic acid which are soluble in various organic solvents are chemically synthesized by oxidative polymerization of pyrrole with ammonium persulfate as a oxidant. Free standing films prepared from several solvents(m-cresol, chloroform, NMP, DMSO etc.) show electrical conductivities of 10??∼6S/cm and tensile strength of 15∼20MPa. Polypyrrole solution prepared from m-cresol and chloroform shows free carrier tail in the near IR region which is attributed to the delocalization of charge carriers and free standing films prepared from these solvents shows smooth surface morphology and the weight loss due to the degradation of polymer chain around 450oC. Polypyrrole solutions prepared from m-cresol and chloroform show high degree of miscibility with PMMA and good film forming property.
