        Implementation of AR Remote Rendering Techniques for Real-time Volumetric 3D Video

        Recently, with the growth of mixed reality industrial infrastructure, relevant convergence research has been proposed. For real-time mixed reality services such as remote video conferencing, the research on real-time acquisition-process-transfer methods is required. This paper aims to implement an AR remote rendering method of volumetric 3D video data. We have proposed and implemented two modules; one, the parsing module of the volumetric 3D video to a game engine, and two, the server rendering module. The result of the experiment showed that the volumetric 3D video sequence data of about 15 MB was compressed by 6-7%. The remote module was streamed at 27 fps at a 1200 by 1200 resolution. The results of this paper are expected to be applied to an AR cloud service.

        Implementation of On-site Audio Center based on AoIP

        Recently, rapid advances of Ethernet and IP technology have brought many changes in the sound industry. In addition, due to AoIP-based audio transmission technology, various problems of the acoustic system (sound quality deterioration due to long distance transmission, complicated wiring) have improved dramatically. However, when many distributed audio systems are connected with AoIP equipment, if there is a problem in the equipment, it is impossible to operate the connected system. AoIP equipment only can transmit audio signals but cannot adjust the system for acoustic environment. In this paper, AoIP equipment is to be installed with sound equipment on a one-to-one basis, so that various existing problems can be solved and adjustment of sound quality (reverberation, echo, delay and EQ) can be possible by AoIP-based OAC (On-site Audio Center) with built-in DSP function. As a result, uncompressed real-time transmission by distributed transmission/receipt module in OAC (On-site Audio Center) and high quality sound by adjustment of sound quality with built-in DSP can be acquired. It is expected that OAC based sound system will be the industry standard in ubiquitous environment.

        Implementation of Video Mirroring System based on IP

        The recent development of information and communication technology has a great impact on the audio/video industry. In particular, IP-based AoIP transmission technology and AVB technology are making changes in the audio/video market. Video signal transmission technology has been introduced to the market through a network, but it has not replaced the video switcher function. Video signals in the conference room or classroom are still controlled by the switching device. In order to switch input/output video devices, a cable that is not limited by distance must be connected to the switcher. In addition, the control of the switching device must be performed by a person who has received professional training. In this paper, it is a technology that can be operated even by non-experts by replacing complex video cables (RGB, DVI, HDMI, DP) with LAN cables and enabling IP-based video switching and transmission (Video Mirroring over IP: VMoIP) to replace video switcher equipment. We are going to do this study, I/O videos were controlled in the form of matrix and high-definition videos were transmitted without distortion, and VMoIP is expected to become the standard for video switching systems in the future.

        Are Outcomes Comparable for Repair of AO/OTA Type 13C1 and Type 13C2 Distal Humeral Fractures Using the Paratricipital Approach?

        Background: Studies have reported favorable outcomes using the paratricipital approach for fixation of distal humeral intra-articular fractures. However, literature evaluating the clinical results of the approach remains limited. The objective of this study was to compare clinical outcomes between type 13C2 and type 13C1 distal humeral fractures after open reduction and internal fixation performed using the same approach and same type of plate. Methods: A total of 52 adults with type 13C1 or 13C2 distal humeral fractures were treated surgically at our institution during 2006 to 2018. We retrospectively analyzed data from 29 of these patients (19 with type 13C1 fractures and 10 with 13C2 fractures) who met the inclusion criteria. All subjects were followed for a minimum of 2 years postoperatively. Clinical and radiologic results were analyzed to determine differences in outcomes between the two types of fractures. Clinical results were evaluated using elbow range of motion (ROM), Mayo Elbow Performance Score (MEPS), and Quick Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (Q-DASH) score. Alignment, fracture union, and presence of posttraumatic arthritis were evaluated radiologically. Results: The patients’ mean age was 51 years, and the mean duration of follow-up was 29 months. Mean ROM was 129.5° ± 21.5° in the type 13C1 group and 123.0° ± 20.6° in the 13C2 group (p = 0.20). Mean Q-DASH score was 12.6 ± 11.7 in the 13C1 group and 16.2 ± 19.8 in the 13C2 group (p = 0.60). Mean MEPS was 92.9 ± 8.5 in the 13C1 group and 85.0 ± 14.1 in the 13C2 group (p = 0.09). Carrying angle did not differ significantly between the 13C1 and 13C2 groups. No patient in either group exhibited nonunion or posttraumatic arthritis. Conclusions: Although the paratricipital approach has the disadvantage of limited visualization of articular surfaces, there were no differences in surgical outcomes between type 13C1 and type 13C2 distal humeral fractures after fixation using this approach. Thus, surgeons may need to consider using the paratricipital approach for open reduction and internal fixation of 13C2 distal humeral fractures.

      • Calvarial Defect Healing Induced by Small Molecule Smoothened Agonist

        <P>Hedgehog (Hh) signaling positively regulates both endochondral and intramembranous ossification. Use of small molecules for tissue engineering applications poses several advantages. In this study, we examined whether use of an acellular scaffold treated with the small molecule Smoothened agonist (SAG) could aid in critical-size mouse calvarial defect repair. First, we verified the pro-osteogenic effect of SAG in vitro, using primary neonatal mouse calvarial cells (NMCCs). Next, a 4mm nonhealing defect was created in the mid-parietal bone of 10-week-old CD-1 mice. The scaffold consisted of a custom-fabricated poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) disc with hydroxyapatite coating (measuring 4mm diameterx0.5mm thickness). Treatment groups included dimethylsulfoxide control (n=6), 0.5mM SAG (n=7) or 1.0mM SAG (n=7). Evaluation was performed at 4 and 8 weeks postoperative, by a combination of high-resolution microcomputed tomography, histology (H & E, Masson's Trichrome), histomorphometry, and immunohistochemistry (BSP, OCN, VEGF). In vivo results showed that SAG treatment induced a significant and dose-dependent increase in calvarial bone healing by all radiographic parameters. Histomorphometric analysis showed an increase in all parameters of bone formation with SAG treatment, but also an increase in blood vessel number and density. In summary, SAG is a pro-osteogenic, provasculogenic stimulus when applied locally in a bone defect environment.</P>

        Effect of pH-controlled synthesis on the physical properties and intermediate-temperature CO<sub>2</sub> sorption behaviors of K–Mg double salt-based sorbents

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>High-temperature CO<SUB>2</SUB> sorption has been investigated as a new CO<SUB>2</SUB> capture technology, and the development of high-temperature CO<SUB>2</SUB> sorbents is critically important for the realization of this technology. In this study, K–Mg double salt-based sorbents were synthesized using a new pH-controlled precipitation method and the prepared sorbents were tested for medium high (intermediate) temperature CO<SUB>2</SUB> sorption. In the new method for the synthesis of K–Mg double salt-based sorbents, the pH of the reagent solution was controlled by adding K<SUB>2</SUB>CO<SUB>3</SUB> and/or KOH, resulting in varied ratios of different components in the sorbent. The CO<SUB>2</SUB> sorption ability was enhanced in K–Mg double salt-based sorbents synthesized using the new pH-controlled method compared to the samples synthesized by the conventional precipitation method. The newly prepared K–Mg double salt-based sorbents had a high CO<SUB>2</SUB> sorption uptake of up to 2.09molkg<SUP>−1</SUP> at 300°C and 1bar.         Influence of defective sites in Pt/C catalysts on the anode of direct methanol fuel cell and their role in CO poisoning: a first-principles study

        Carbon-supported Pt catalyst systems containing defect adsorption sites on the anode of direct methanol fuel cells were investigated, to elucidate the mechanisms of H2 dissociation and carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning. Density functional theory calculations were carried out to determine the effect of defect sites located neighboring to or distant from the Pt catalyst on H2 and CO adsorption properties, based on electronic properties such as adsorption energy and electronic band gap. Interestingly, the presence of neighboring defect sites led to a reduction of H2 dissociation and CO poisoning due to atomic Pt filling the defect sites. At distant sites, H2 dissociation was active on Pt, but CO filled the defect sites to form carbon π-π bonds, thus enhancing the oxidation of the carbon surface. It should be noted that defect sites can cause CO poisoning, thereby deactivating the anode gradually.

        System Integration for the Operation of Unmanned Audio Center based on AoIP

        Recently, the development of the information communication industry has made many changes in the industrial acoustic industry. Especially, it has a great influence on the change of system and equipment of acoustic system. Analog equipment is changing to digital equipment, and integrated control equipment makes it easier to operate and manage the sound system. However, the integrated control system currently on the market is only controllable for some devices. In this paper, we propose a new AoIP - based system configuration method, which enables the operation status monitoring, unmanned operation and self - diagnosis of equipment. As a result of the study, it is confirmed that the proposed system can be operated, monitored, and self - diagnosed at remote sites. It is expected that an AoIP- based sound system will be the industry standard in the future.

        A Study on Virtual Studio Application using Microsoft Hololens

        Mixed Reality (MR) shows a composite image of a virtual object in the real world. It has been applied to various fields by the introduction of head mounted display (HMD) such as Microsoft's Hololens [1-3]. The virtual studio in broadcasting combines the contents created by computer graphics with the actual set to reproduce the 3D image screen. This requires physical space such as a set of chroma keys. It also requires professional knowledge and manpower and costly equipment to post-process the graphics and information for long periods of time. Therefore, in this paper, we aim to study the implementation of virtual studio based on Mixed Reality using Microsoft Hololens. Through the implementation of 'Holo-studio' application, realistic and virtual objects of broadcasting camera viewpoint were acquired at the same time. Using Microsoft's spectator view library, the frame rate is degraded in objects with high polygons (100,000 polygons). The proposed method maintains 60 fps image transmission in high polygon objects. The results of this paper show the possibility of using virtual studio at low cost which does not need separate physical space.
