        Complete Genome Sequence of Massilia sp. KACC 81254BP Reveals a Potential for Degrading Polyhydroxyalkanoates

        제주도매립지에서분리된 Massilia strain KACC 81254BP 는생분해성플라스틱폴리하이드록시알카노에이트(PHA)를분해할수있다. 이균주의유전체는 5,028,452 bp의원형염색체로구성되어있으며, G+C 함량은 64.6%이다. 이유전체는 PHB depolymerase를포함한 4,513개유전자가확인되었다. 이유전체는신호전달과아미노산수송등대사와관련한다양한유전자를포함하고있다. 이연구는 Massilia sp. KACC 81254BP의폴리에스터 플라스틱 분해 효소와 관련된 유전학적 정보를 제공한다. Massilia sp. KACC 81254BP, isolated from a landfill on Jeju Island, Republic of Korea, possesses the capability to degrade polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs). The genomic analysis of strain KACC 81254BP consists of a circular chromosome comprising 5,028,452 base pairs with a DNA G+C content of 64.6%. This complete genome consists of a total of 4,513 genes, including those encoding the PHA degradation enzyme (PhaZ). This study offers valuable genomic insights into the enzymes responsible for degrading polyester plastics.

        성별, 학교적응, 학업수행능력이 초등학생의 자아존중감에 미치는 영향 :잠재성장모형을 활용한 종단분석

        본 연구는 성별이나 학교적응 등 개인적 변인과 자아존중감의 관계를 종단적으로 탐색함으로써 자아존중감 발달에 대한 이해를 넓히고, 증진과 관련된 시사점을 도출하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 한국아동패널 종단자료를 바탕으로 잠재성장모형을 적용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 아동의 자아존중감은 시간의 변화에 따라 미미하게 증가하였다. 둘째, 성별과 학업수행능력은 자아존중감 초기값에 정적으로, 변화율에는 부적으로 유의미한 영향을 미쳤으나 학교적응은 자아존중감의 변화에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않았다. 즉 여아이며, 학업수행능력이 높을수록 자아존중감 초기값이 높은 반면 변화율은 감소하였다. 셋째, 통제변인으로 투입한 월 가구소득은 아동 자아존중감의 초기값에 정적으로 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 본 연구결과에 근거하여 아동의 자아존중감 증진을 위한 방안을 제시하였다. The purpose of this study was to investigate longitudinal changes in self-esteem of elementary school students and to identify the effect of gender, school adjustment, and academic performance on self-esteem by using latent growth modeling. For this, the longitudinal data collected by Korea Institute of Child Care and Education was used. The results of this study were as follows. Firstly, the child's self-esteem slightly has increased and there were individual differences in the initial value and rate of change of self-esteem. Secondly, gender and academic performance had a significant effect on the initial value of self-esteem positively while they had negative impacts on the rate of change. In other words, girls had higher initial values of self-esteem than boys and the higher the academic performance, the higher the initial value of self esteem, while the rate of change has decreased. Furthermore, school adjustment did not significantly affect the initial level and the change of self-esteem. Thirdly, monthly household income as a control variable had a statistically significant effect on the initial value of self-esteem. These findings of this study contribute to in-depth understanding of children’s self-esteem and providing appropriate interventions to enhance self-esteem of elementary school students.

        The Fundamental Functionality Design of a Smart Farm Using an Embedded Computing Platform

        본 논문에서는 2개의 범용 임베디드 컴퓨팅 플랫폼을 사용하여 사용자의 요구사항을 용이하게 적용하고 시장 적기성과 시스템의 유연성을 높이기 위한 목적으로 스마트 팜에 요구되는 기본적인 기능을 설계하였다. 2개의 임베디드 컴퓨팅 플랫폼을 사용한 스마트 팜 시스템은 주(master)-종(slave) 관계로 동작되는 구조이다. 주 임베디드 컴퓨팅 플랫폼은 ALTERA의 DE10-Nano(ARM Cortex-A9 프로세서 사용)을 사용하였으며, 종 임베디드 컴퓨팅 플랫폼은 STM32F407G-DISC1(ARM Cortex-M4) 임베디드 컴퓨팅 플랫폼을 사용하였다. 종 임베디드 컴퓨팅 플랫폼은 스마트 팜의 센서 및 모터 제어 등의 기본기능을 컨트롤하고 주임베디드 컴퓨팅 플랫폼과 통신기능을 수행한다. 본 논문에서 설계한 시스템은 스마트 팜 뿐만 아니라 특정한 응용분야에 적용할 경우 시스템의 시장 적기성, 시스템의 유연성 및 확장성을 가져올 수 있다. 향후 연구내용은 설계한 시스템에서 OpenCL 환경에서 전체 시스템의 성능 및 처리 속도를 향상할 수 있도록 DE10-Nano의 ARM Cortex-A9 프로세서와 FPGA 영역에서 3개의 32비트 RISC FPGA 소프트 코어 NiosII 프로세서를 사용하여 다중프로세서 시스템으로 설계하는 것이다. In this paper, we designed the fundamental functions required for smart farms for the purpose of applying user"s requirements easily using two general-purpose embedded computing platforms, and improving time-to-market and system flexibility. The smart farm system using two embedded computing platforms is designed as a system structure that operates in master-slave relationship. The master embedded computing platform used was ALTERA"s DE10-Nano using the ARM Cortex-A9 and the slave embedded computing platform used the STM32F407G-DISC1 (using the ARM Cortex-M4) embedded computing platform. The slave embedded computing platform controls fundamental functionalities such as sensor and motor control in smart farm and communicates with the master embedded computing platform. Therefore, the system designed in this paper can bring about marketability, system flexibility, and scalability of the system when applied not only to smart farm but also to specific application fields. Future work will be to improve the performance and processing speed of the entire system in the OpenCL (Open Computing Language) environment to apply the big data required in the intelligent farm system in the designed system. The ARM Cortex-A9 processor of the DE10-Nano will be used as the master processor, and the FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) area will be designed as a multiprocessor system using three 32bit RISC (Reduced Instruction Set Computer) FPGA soft core NiosII processors.

        Evolution of Automatic Ordering System in Retail Market : Analyzing Inventory Data

        The purpose of this paper is to reveal two problems in the existing inventory systems in retail market, and to suggest a Two-Bin System under Automatic Ordering System considering only base-stock. Large retailers already have a sophisticated inventory system based on an automatic ordering principle. However, why does the out-of-stock (OOS) happen in large discount stores in spite of having a good inventory system? This paper suggests two systems after finding the root causes concerning the previous question. For evaluating the performance of each system, the random 200 data set in each sample group was generated from MINITAB 16 and obeyed the Poisson distribution. The existing inventory system in retail market cannot help generating OOS due to indwelling contradiction in itself. The reasons are the ordering deadline and the relationship between ordering quantity and base stock. This paper also demonstrates that these previous studies on inventory fall into the closed loop. Also the paper shows that the performance of the replenishment policy was better than traditional methods dealing with ordering quantity and base stock.

        Heteroleptic Phosphorescent Iridium(III) Compound with Blue Emission for Potential Application to Organic Light–Emitting Diodes

        Blue phosphorescent (dfpypy)2Ir(mppy), where dfpypy = 2',6'-difluoro-2,3'-bipyridine and mppy = 5-methyl- 2-phenylpyridine, has been synthesized by newly developed effective method and its solid state structure and photoluminescent properties are investigated. The glass-transition and decomposition temperature of the compound appear at 160 oC and 360 oC, respectively. In a crystal packing structure, there are two kinds of intermolecular interactions such as hydrogen bonding (C-HF) and edge-to-face C-Hπ(py) interaction. This compound emits bright blue phosphorescence with λmax = 472 nm and quantum efficiencies of 0.23 and 0.32 in fluid and the solid state. The emission band of the compound is red-shifted by 40 nm relative to homoleptic congener, Ir(dfpypy)3. The ancillary ligand in (dfpypy)2Ir(mppy) has been found to significantly destabilize HOMO energy, compared to Ir(dfpypy)3, (dfpypy)2Ir(acac) and (dfpypy)2Ir(dpm), without significantly changing LUMO energy.

      • Rethinking Woman’s Selfhood : Economic and Cultural Negotiations in Mary Rowlandson’s Captive Narrative

        This paper reads Mary Rowlandson’s A True History of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson (1682) as a model representation of female selfhood in captivity negotiated through economic and cultural terms. Most research on this work has focused on its religious significance by showing how the suffering captive can return to God through his providence. My reading pays closer attention to Rowlandson’s depiction of her autonomous identity established as she witnesses multiple deaths of captives, engages in Native economies in bartering for food, and participates in Native American culture for nearly three months. I begin the paper by contextualizing the historically characterized conception of womanhood in the seventeenth century, where the woman’s role is formulated primarily in relation to familiar and social roles such as mother, daughter, wife and mistress. However, in the captive condition, Rowlandson is able to establish her own autonomous selfhood outside of the context of a socially given identity. As a captive, she is able to act out the roles of skilled craftsman, friendly neighbor and resourceful trader. By reading the captive narrative through the prism of negotiation, we can understand how skillfully Rowlandson is able to construct her selfhood in ways that society and community did not endorse in her times
