        Synergistic effect in low temperature co-pyrolysis of sugarcane bagasse and lignite

        Sugarcane bagasse was co-pyrolyzed with lignite in a fixed bed reactor to investigate the possible interaction during co-pyrolysis. GC-MS revealed that the concentration of phenols and aliphatic compounds in the tar increased with the addition of sugarcane bagasse, while the content of aromatic compounds had the contradictory tendency. The phenol content in co-pyrolyzed tar reached 20.35%, which increased by 142.26% compared with the calculated values. The sugarcane bagasse decomposition peak partly overlapped with lignite pyrolysis peak from TG-DTG curves, which meant more interaction between lignite and sugarcane bagasse during the pyrolysis process. The difference between the experimental and calculated values of pyrolysis products yield, tar components, DTG values and kinetics analysis indicated the synergetic effect between lignite and sugarcane bagasse.

        Disturbance Observer-based Finite-time Optimal Synchronization Control for Multi-motor Driving Servo Systems

        In this paper, a disturbance observer-based finite-time optimal synchronization control strategy is proposed with an adaptive bias torque for multi-motor driving servo systems. Finite time disturbance observers are designed to estimate the system nonlinearity and external disturbance, which ensure the finite time convergence of observation errors. Meanwhile a virtual tracking control input is designed to guarantee the output tracking of the load subsystem and a generalized synchronization error is obtained for the motor subsystem. Based on the synchronization error system, an auxiliary exponential function with finite-time convergence property is introduced to obtain the sufficient conditions for optimal synchronization control, which avoids solving the complex HamiltonJacobi-Bellman function. Simulation and experimental results reveal the flexibility of the proposed control scheme.

        한국과 중국 TV 프로그램 등장인물의 역할모델에 관한 비교 연구

        이 연구는 한국과 중국의 TV 프로그램에 등장한 인물의 역할모델이 어떤 특성을 가지고 있는지를 살펴보려는 목적에서 선정한 한국 KBS의 <글로벌 성공시대>와 중국 CCTV의 <感动中国>에 대한 내용분석을 시도했다. 역할모델의 성별, 출생 년대, 직업, 유형, 가치관의 5가지 범주로 나누어 비교분석한 결과, 공통점과 차이점이 발견되었다. 첫째, 두 프로그램 모두에서 여성보다 남성이 70% 이상으로 높았다. 또한 출생 년대가 늦을수록 여성의 비율이 높아지고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 역할모델의 출생연대도 1950년대와 1960년대가 많았다. 그러면서 <글로벌 성공시대>는 1940년대의 출생 인물이 많은 반면에 <感动中国>은 1920년대 이전의 출생 인물이 많았고, 상대적으로 다양한 연령대가 골고루 등장하는 차이가 있었다. 셋째, 두 작품 간의 완전히 다른 차이는 역할모델의 직업에서 나타났다. <글로벌 성공시대>의 역할모델은 상인, 문예체육인, 공학기술자, 지식인, 정치인 순으로, <感动中国>은 지식인, 노동자, 군인경찰, 공무원, 문예체육인, 교사, 학생 순으로 나타났다. 넷째, 역할모델의 유형은 두 프로그램 모두 개인, 사회, 국가, 가정 관계지향 순으로 높았다. 그러나 <感动中国>보다 <글로벌 성공시대>가 개인의 성공을 중시하는 지향성의 모델유형이 72.8%로 높은 반면, 가정 중시의 관계지향은 0.3%에 그쳤다. 다섯째, 역할모델의 가치관에서 두 프로그램 모두 개인속성과 인화력, 더불어 함께하는 삶과 책임감을 강조하고 있었다. 그렇지만 <글로벌 성공시대>는 도전과 진취와 근면의 가치관을, <感动中国>은 애국심과 희생과 경업(敬业)의 가치관을 우위에 두는 상이성을 보였다. This essay is a content analysis on the TV programs of "Global Success Era" by KBS in South Korea and "Touching China" by CCTV in China. Its analytical focus is given on the role models of both programs, categorized into gender, age, job, orientation and social value, for all of them are very effective in playing the function of ruling ideologies. The research result shows some similarities and disparities. First, male characters in the both programs are over 70%. And the factor of age has a positive effect on female role models in that the older they are, the more they appear in the two programs. Second, the majority of role models in the two programs are born in the 1950s and 1960s. But the birth ratio of 1940s in "Global Success Era" is high, whereas that of before 1920s in "Touching China" high, and the age representatives of role model are more diverse. Third, the job hierarchy in the two programs is totally different. The job order expressed by role models of "Global Success Era" is businessman, scholar, artist, athlete, technician and politician, while that of "Touching China" technician, worker, soldier, policeman, scholar, artist, athlete, teacher and student. Fourth, the priority of relation types to which the role models of the both programs is person, society, nation and family. The preference ratio of individual success in "Global Success Era" is 72.8%, while the family relation oriented model is just 0.3%. Fifth, in the social value of role models both of the two programs emphasize individual attributes and affinities, and community and responsibility. However, "Global Success Era" values challenging spirits, whereas "Touching China" on patriotism, work devotion and sacrifice.

        Approximate Optimal Stabilization Control of Servo Mechanisms based on Reinforcement Learning Scheme

        A reinforcement learning (RL) based adaptive dynamic programming (ADP) is developed to learn the approximate optimal stabilization input of the servo mechanisms, where the unknown system dynamics are approximated with a three-ayer neural network (NN) identifier. First, the servo mechanism model is constructed and a three-layer NN identifier is used to approximate the unknown servo system. The NN weights of both the hidden layer and output layer are synchronously tuned with an adaptive gradient law. An RL-based critic three-layer NN is then used to learn the optimal cost function, where NN weights of the first layer are set as constants, NN weights of the second layer are updated by minimizing the squared Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) error. The optimal stabilization input of the servomechanism is obtained based on the three-layer NN identifier and RL-based critic NN scheme, which can stabilize the motor speed from its initial value to the given value. Moreover, the convergence analysis of the identifier and RL-based critic NN is proved, the stability of the cost function with the proposed optimal input is analyzed. Finally, a servo mechanism model and a complex system are provided to verify the correctness of the proposed methods.

        Highly AC Voltage Fluctuation-Resistant LED Driver with Sinusoid-Like Reference

        A novel converter-free AC LED driver that is highly resistant to the fluctuation of AC voltage is proposed in this study. By removing large passive components, such as the bulky capacitor and the large-value inductor, the integration of the driver circuit is enhanced while the driving current remains stable. The proposed circuit provides LED lamps with a driving current that can follow the sinusoid waveform to obtain a very high power factor (PF) and low total harmonic distortion (THD). The LED input current produced by this driving current is insensitive to fluctuations in the AC voltage. Users will thus not feel that LED lamps are flashing during the fluctuation. Experiment results indicate that the proposed system can obtain PF of 0.999 and THD as low as 3.3% for a five-string 6 W LED load under 220 V at 50 Hz.

        Computed-Tomography-Determined Sarcopenia is a Useful Imaging Biomarker for Predicting Postoperative Outcomes in Elderly Colorectal Cancer Patients

        Purpose This study aimed to establish whether computed tomography (CT)–determined sarcopenia is a useful imaging biomarker for postoperative outcome in elderly colorectal cancer (CRC) patients, and construct sarcopenia-based nomograms to predict individual outcomes after surgery. Materials and Methods CT imaging data of 298 elderly CRC patients who underwent surgery in 2012-2014 were retrospectively analyzed. Skeletal muscle mass was determined by CT, and sarcopenia was diagnosed based on the optimal cutoff value determined by X-tile program. The correlation between sarcopenia and risk of preoperative nutrition and postoperative complications was evaluated. A Cox proportional hazards model was used to determine survival predictors. Sarcopenia-based nomograms were developed based on multivariate analysis, and calibrated using concordance index and calibration curves. Results A total 132 patients (44.3%) had sarcopenia based on the optimum cutoff values (29.9 cm2/m2 for women and 49.5 cm2/m2 for men). Sarcopenia was an independent risk factor for preoperative nutrition (p < 0.001; odds ratio [OR], 3.405; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.948 to 5.954) and postoperative complications (p=0.008; OR, 2.192; 95% CI, 1.231 to 3.903). Sarcopenia was an independent predictor for poor progression-free survival (p < 0.001; hazard ratio [HR], 2.175; 95% CI, 1.489 to 3.179) and overall survival (p < 0.001; HR, 2.524; 95% CI, 1.721 to 3.703). Based on multivariate analysis, we produced four nomograms that had better predictive performance. Conclusion CT-determined sarcopenia is a useful imaging biomarker for predicting preoperative nutritional risk, postoperative complications, and long-term outcomes in elderly CRC patients. The sarcopenia-based nomograms can provide a scientific basis for guiding therapeutic schedule and follow-up strategies.
