        Quand le Cameroun rencontre la Corée du Sud : traducteur interculturel

        Considered from a historical perspective, translation can be the stage of a variety of phenomena and the current work is an attempt to envision the cross-cultural dimension of translators’ activities. This work is a case study whereby a deliberate focus on images picturing the difference met during a particular translation process makes it possible to have a glimpse into translation as a real life cross-cultural experience made by the translator. Based on a case of translation into a B language, namely from Korean into French, habits, moves, routines and beliefs arising out of a translation enable to see the translator as working in a cross-cultural space in-between different cultures, wherein he/she sometimes has to meet, negotiate and make decisions to transfer images that talk about the concerned cultures. Historiquement parlant, la traduction englobe de nombreux phénomènes et le présent travail essaie de capter la dimension interculturelle de l’activité du traducteur. Il s’agit d’une étude de cas à travers laquelle nous essayons d’identifier comment la présence dans le texte à traduire d’images d’une culture fait d’une expérience de traduction un moment de rencontre interculturelle. Partant d’un exercice de traduction du coréen vers le français, nous présentons des habitudes, gestes, routines et croyances rencontrés au cours d’une traduction qui montrent le traducteur comme un acteur interculturel amené à rencontrer, négocier et transmettre des réalités dans un espace se nourrissant des deux cultures en présence.
