Chemical Compositions and Insecticidal Activity of Eucalyptus urophylla Essential oil Against Culex quinquefasciatus Mosquito

        Rini Pujiarti,Kasmudjo 한국목재공학회 2016 목재공학 Vol.44 No.4

Eucalyptus oils are widely used as spices, perfume industrial materials, food flavorings, and medicines. Several types of Eucalyptus oils also have insecticidal activity and as carminative. This study investigated the chemical composition, insecticidal (larvicidal and repellent) activity of E. urophylla oil against filarial mosquito Culex quinquefasciatus. E. urophylla oil was obtained from fresh leaves by water-steam distillation with oil yield 1.08%. E. urophylla oil in this study had no color (clear), has odor (typical eucalyptus), with specific gravity 0.941; refractive index 1.465; miscibility in 70% ethanol 1 : 3; and optical rotation (-) 5.83°. The major compounds of the oil were α-pinene (11.73%), 1,8-cineole (49.86%), β-ocimene (6.25%), γ-terpinene (9.11%), and α-terpinyl acetate (7.63%). The result showed the excellent insecticide activity against C. quinquefasciatus. The oil provided larvicidal activity with LC50: 80.21 ppm and LC90: 210.18 ppm, and repellent activity with IC50: 0.82% and IC90: 4.88%. The present study showed the effectiveness of E. urophylla as natural insecticide against C. quinquefasciatus, the mosquito vector of filariasis.

COMPARISON OF CENTRALIZED AND MULTI-LAYER ARCHITECTURES FOR NONLINEAR MODEL PREDICTIVE TORQUE-VECTORING AND TRACTION CONTROL

        Rini Gabriele,De Bernardis Martino,Bottiglione Francesco,Hartavi Ahu Ece,Sorniotti Aldo 한국자동차공학회 2023 International journal of automotive technology Vol.24 No.4

A significant body of literature discusses direct yaw moment controllers for vehicle stability control and torque-vectoring (TV), based on model predictive control. However, the available references lack an analysis of the effect of including or excluding the wheel dynamics in the prediction model in combined longitudinal and lateral acceleration conditions, which is related to the control system architecture. In fact, in the first case, the controller can also fulfill the wheel slip control function, according to a centralized architecture, while in the second case, the tire slip limitation has to be implemented externally, in a multi-layer approach. This study addresses the identified gap by proposing and comparing – through simulations with a high-fidelity vehicle model – centralized and multilayer real-time implementable architectures using nonlinear model predictive control (NMPC) for the TV and traction control (TC) of an electric vehicle with front in-wheel motors. An optimization routine calibrates the main controller parameters, to ensure fairness in the comparison during extreme accelerating-while-cornering maneuvers with transient steering inputs. The results show that the real-time implementable multi-layer architecture with wheel dynamics in the NMPC prediction model, and considering the externally generated TC torque reduction in the TV layer, provides equivalent performance to a centralized set-up.

Comparison of Multi-Label U-Net and Mask R-CNN for panoramic radiograph segmentation to detect periodontitis

Rini, Widyaningrum,Ika, Candradewi,Nur Rahman Ahmad Seno, Aji,Rona, Aulianisa Korean Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology 2022 Imaging Science in Dentistry Vol.52 No.-

Purpose: Periodontitis, the most prevalent chronic inflammatory condition affecting teeth-supporting tissues, is diagnosed and classified through clinical and radiographic examinations. The staging of periodontitis using panoramic radiographs provides information for designing computer-assisted diagnostic systems. Performing image segmentation in periodontitis is required for image processing in diagnostic applications. This study evaluated image segmentation for periodontitis staging based on deep learning approaches. Materials and Methods: Multi-Label U-Net and Mask R-CNN models were compared for image segmentation to detect periodontitis using 100 digital panoramic radiographs. Normal conditions and 4 stages of periodontitis were annotated on these panoramic radiographs. A total of 1100 original and augmented images were then randomly divided into a training (75%) dataset to produce segmentation models and a testing (25%) dataset to determine the evaluation metrics of the segmentation models. Results: The performance of the segmentation models against the radiographic diagnosis of periodontitis conducted by a dentist was described by evaluation metrics(i.e., dice coefficient and intersection-over-union [IoU] score). MultiLabel U-Net achieved a dice coefficient of 0.96 and an IoU score of 0.97. Meanwhile, Mask R-CNN attained a dice coefficient of 0.87 and an IoU score of 0.74. U-Net showed the characteristic of semantic segmentation, and Mask R-CNN performed instance segmentation with accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score values of 95%, 85.6%, 88.2%, and 86.6%, respectively. Conclusion: Multi-Label U-Net produced superior image segmentation to that of Mask R-CNN. The authors recommend integrating it with other techniques to develop hybrid models for automatic periodontitis detection.

A systematic review of the keystone design perforator island flap in the reconstruction of trunk defects

Rini, Irena Sakura,Gunardi, Alberta Jesslyn,Marsaulina, Renate Parlene,Aryandono, Teguh,Dachlan, Ishandono,Dwiprahasto, Iwan Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surge 2020 Archives of Plastic Surgery Vol.47 No.6

The keystone design perforator island flap can be utilized in the repair of trunk defects. A systematic review was carried out to identify the complication rates of the use of this flap to treat such defects. The MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane Library, and PubMed Central databases were searched for articles published between January 2003 and December 2018 that reported the use of keystone design perforator island flaps in the repair of trunk defects. Study selection was conducted in alignment with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses statement. Eight articles involving a total of 54 flaps satisfied the inclusion criteria. The most frequently reported cause of trunk defects was oncologic resection (64.4%). The overall complication rate was 35.2%, and complications included infection (11.1%), wound dehiscence (7.4%), delayed healing (7.4%), and partial flap loss (1.9%). The keystone design perforator island flap is associated with a high success rate and low technical complexity. Despite minor complications, keystone design flaps could be a preferred choice for trunk reconstruction.

『說苑』에 실린 『新序』 중복편을 통해 본 劉向의 인식 변화 고찰

        권아린(Kwon, A-Rini) 한국중어중문학회 2016 中語中文學 Vol.0 No.64

This thesis is a general study on the Liuxiang(劉向)’s political viewpoint and the value of Shuoyuan(說苑) focused on the receptiveness and the transformation of Xinxu(新序). Shuoyuan is a collection of historical stories from the Qin Dynasty to the early Han Dynasty. Liuxiang had collected narrative materials, and then finished editing. Each material is often classified by according to certain themes, which is serving to strengthen the theme. Liuxiang’s principle of editing is to remove repeated stories but to remain similar stories. There are about fifteen stuffs in the Shuoyuan and Xinxu that have similar stories. The basic plot of the story is similar but the wording and the focusing themes is different, which means that he selected the stories from the raw materials. The repeated theme stories can be categorized into three types; The first one has similar plots, and is written in different words and sentences. The second one has similar plots, but was changed to other themes by different comments. The last one has differences both in the plots and themes. Themes are designed to strengthen and deliberately orchestrated, which is reflected the changes of Liuxiang’s consciousness.
