      • Ultrasonic waves in a single walled armchair carbon nanotube resting on nonlinear foundation subjected to thermal and in plane magnetic fields

        Selvamani, Rajendran,Jayan, M. Mahaveer Sree,Ebrahimi, Farzad Techno-Press 2021 Coupled systems mechanics Vol.10 No.1

The present paper is concerned with the study of nonlinear ultrasonic waves in a magneto thermo (MT) elastic armchair single-walled carbon nanotube (ASWCNT) resting on polymer matrix. The analytical formulation is developed based on Eringen's nonlocal elasticity theory to account small scale effect. After developing the formal solution of the mathematical model consisting of partial differential equations, the frequency equations have been analyzed numerically by using the nonlinear foundations supported by Winkler-Pasternak model. The solution is obtained by ultrasonic wave dispersion relations. Parametric work is carried out to scrutinize the influence of the non local scaling, magneto-mechanical loadings, foundation parameters, various boundary condition and length on the dimensionless frequency of nanotube. It is noticed that the boundary conditions, nonlocal parameter, and tube geometrical parameters have significant effects on dimensionless frequency of nano tubes. The results presented in this study can provide mechanism for the study and design of the nano devices like component of nano oscillators, micro wave absorbing, nano-electron technology and nano-electro- magneto-mechanical systems (NEMMS) that make use of the wave propagation properties of armchair single-walled carbon nanotubes embedded on polymer matrix.

Wave propagation in a nonlocal prestressed piezoelectric polygonal plate with non-homogeneity and hygroscopic effect

        Rajendran Selvamani,Hepzibah Christinal,Farzad Ebrahimi Techno-Press 2023 Advances in materials research Vol.12 No.4

The humid thermal vibration characteristics of a nonhomogeneous thermopiezoelectric nonlocal plate of polygonal shape are addressed in the purview of generalized nonlocal thermoelasticity. The plate is initially stressed, and the three-dimensional linear elasticity equations are taken to form motion equations. The problem is solved using the Fourier expansion collocation method along the irregular boundary conditions. The numerical results of physical variables have been discussed for the triangle, square, pentagon, and hexagon shapes of the plates and are given as dispersion curves. The amplitude of non-dimensional frequencies is tabulated for the longitudinal and flexural symmetric modes of the thermopiezoelectric plate via moisture and thermal constants. Also, a comparison of numerical results is made with existing literature, and good agreement is reached.

      • Bending analysis of magneto-electro piezoelectric nanobeams system under hygro-thermal loading

        Ebrahimi, Farzad,Karimiasl, Mahsa,Selvamani, Rajendran Techno-Press 2020 Advances in nano research Vol.8 No.3

This paper investigated bending of magneto-electro-elastic (MEE) nanobeams under hygro-thermal loading embedded in Winkler-Pasternak foundation based on nonlocal elasticity theory. The governing equations of nonlocal nanobeams in the framework parabolic third order beam theory are obtained using Hamilton's principle and solved implementing an analytical solution. A parametric study is presented to examine the effect of the nonlocal parameter, hygro-thermal-loadings, magneto-electro-mechanical loadings and aspect ratio on the deflection characteristics of nanobeams. It is found that boundary conditions, nonlocal parameter and beam geometrical parameters have significant effects on dimensionless deflection of nanoscale beams.

      • Thermal buckling analysis of magneto-electro-elastic porous FG beam in thermal environment

        Ebrahimi, Farzad,Jafari, Ali,Selvamani, Rajendran Techno-Press 2020 Advances in nano research Vol.8 No.1

An analytical formulation and solution process for the buckling analysis of porous magneto-electro-elastic functionally graded (MEE-FG) beam via different thermal loadings and various boundary conditions is suggested in this paper. Magneto electro mechanical coupling properties of FGM beam are taken to vary via the thickness direction of beam. The rule of power-law is changed to consider inclusion of porosity according to even and uneven distribution. Pores possibly occur inside FGMs due the result of technical problems that lead to creation of micro-voids in these materials. Change in pores along the thickness direction stimulates the mechanical and physical properties. Four-variable tangential-exponential refined theory is employed to derive the governing equations and boundary conditions of porous FGM beam under magneto-electrical field via Hamilton's principle. An analytical model procedure is adopted to achieve the non-dimensional buckling load of porous FG beam exposed to magneto-electrical field with various boundary conditions. In order to evaluate the influence of thermal loadings, material graduation exponent, coefficient of porosity, porosity distribution, magnetic potential, electric voltage and boundary conditions on the critical buckling temperature of the beam made of magneto electro elastic FG materials with porosities a parametric study is presented. It is concluded that these parameters play remarkable roles on the buckling behavior of porous MEE-FG beam. The results for simpler states are proved for exactness with known data in the literature. The proposed numerical results can serve as benchmarks for future analyses of MEE-FG beam with porosity phases.

      • Dynamic characteristics of hygro-magneto-thermo-electrical nanobeam with non-ideal boundary conditions

        Ebrahimi, Farzad,Kokaba, Mohammadreza,Shaghaghi, Gholamreza,Selvamani, Rajendran Techno-Press 2020 Advances in nano research Vol.8 No.2

This study presents the hygro-thermo-electromagnetic mechanical vibration attributes of elastically restrained piezoelectric nanobeam considering effects of beam surface for various elastic non-ideal boundary conditions. The nonlocal Eringen theory besides the surface effects containing surface stress, surface elasticity and surface density are employed to incorporate size-dependent effects in the whole of the model and the corresponding governing equations are derived using Hamilton principle. The natural frequencies are derived with the help of differential transformation method (DTM) as a semi-analytical-numerical method. Some validations are presented between differential transform method results and peer-reviewed literature to show the accuracy and the convergence of this method. Finally, the effects of spring constants, changing nonlocal parameter, imposed electric potential, temperature rise, magnetic potential and moisture concentration are explored. These results can be beneficial to design nanostructures in diverse environments.

      • On bending characteristics of smart magneto-electro-piezoelectric nanobeams system

        Shariati, Ali,Ebrahimi, Farzad,Karimiasl, Mahsa,Selvamani, Rajendran,Toghroli, Ali Techno-Press 2020 Advances in nano research Vol.9 No.3

The content of this study focuses on bending of flexoelectric Magneto-Electro-Elastic (MEE) nanobeams inserted within the foundation of Winkler-Pasternak according to nonlocal elasticity theory. Applying Hamilton's principle, the nonlocal nanobeams' governing equations in the framework higher order refined beam theory are attained and resolved through adapting an analytical solution. A parametric research is demonstrated for studying the effects that magneto-electro-mechanical loadings, the nonlocal parameter, flexoelectric, as well as the aspect ratio all have on the deflection properties of nanobeams. A discovery lead to beam geometrical parameters, the boundary conditions, flexoelectricity and nonlocal parameter partake substantial effects on nanoscale beams' dimensionless deflection.

Thermo-electro-elastic nonlinear stability analysis of viscoelastic double-piezo nanoplates under magnetic field

        Farzad Ebrahimi,S. Hamed S. Hosseini,Rajendran Selvamani 국제구조공학회 2020 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.73 No.5

The nonlinear thermo-electro-elastic buckling behavior of viscoelastic nanoplates under magnetic field is investigated based on nonlocal elasticity theory. Employing nonlinear strain-displacement relations, the geometrical nonlinearity is modeled while governing equations are derived through Hamilton’s principle and they are solved applying semi-analytical generalized differential quadrature (GDQ) method. Eringen’s nonlocal elasticity theory considers the effect of small size, which enables the present model to become effective in the analysis and design of nano-sensors and nano actuators. Based on Kelvin-Voigt model, the influence of the viscoelastic coefficient is also discussed. It is demonstrated that the GDQ method has high precision and computational efficiency in the buckling analysis of viscoelastic nanoplates. The good agreement between the results of this article and those available in literature validated the presented approach. The detailed mathematical derivations are presented and numerical investigations are performed while the emphasis is placed on investigating the effect of the several parameters such as electric voltage, small scale effects, elastomeric medium, magnetic field, temperature effects, the viscidity and aspect ratio of the nanoplate on its nonlinear buckling characteristics. It is explicitly shown that the thermo-electro-elastic nonlinear buckling behavior of viscoelastic nanoplates is significantly influenced by these effects. Numerical results are presented to serve as benchmarks for future analyses of viscoelastic nanoplates as fundamental elements in nanoelectromechanical systems.
