A New Species of the Genus Phytoseius (Phytoseiidae: Acari) in Korea

A new species, Phytoseius (Pennaseius) maldoensis sp. nov. is described from Korea. The new species was collected on the deciduous plants, Alnus hirsuta (Spach) Rupr, at Maldo Island, Seodo­myeon, Gangwha­gun, Incheon City.

韓國産 Phytoseiidae科(거미綱:진드기目)의 分類學的 硏究

본 연구는 捕食性 mite인 Phytoseiidae 科의 분류학적 검토를 목적으로 이루어졌다. 1998년 6월부터 1989년 6월 사이에 주로 호남지역에서 채집된 표본을 정리한 결과, 식물의 잎에서 발견된 것으로는 다음과 같이 5종이 동정되었다. 1) Amblyseius (Amblyseius) deleoni Muma et Denmark, 1971, 2) A. (A.) orientalis Ehara,. 1959, 3) A. (A.) longicornis(Evans, 1952), 4) Phytoseius (Phytoseius) nipponicus Ehara, 1967, 5) P. (P.) blakistoni Ehara. 1966. 그 중 deleoni, P. nipponicus, P. blakistoni의 3종은 한국 미기록종이었다. 본 연구에서의 우점종은 A. deleoni이었다. Three species of phytoseiid mites were previously known to occur in Korea. In these paper, descriptions and records are given of five species of the family as follows. *1. Amblyseius (Amblyseius) deleoni Muma et Denmark, 1971, 2. Amblyseius (Amblyseius) orientalis Ehara, 1959, 3. Amblyseius (Amblyseius) longisinosvs(Evans, 1952), *4. Phytoseius (Phytoseius) nipponicus Ehara, 1962, *5 Phytoseius (Phytoseius) blakistoni Ehara. 1966. Of which, three species with asterisk are new to Korea. Thus, a total of six species, including Typhlodromus vulgaris which is not treated in this paper, are known from Korea.

"Tinidazole a new antiflagellate drug, was given orally for 3-7 days to 99 children infected with G.lamblia. Stool examination for detection and evaluation of therapeutic on giardiasis were made by formaline-ether concentration techniques. The children were grouped according to doses and the duration of administration of the drug. The results were summarized as follows; 1) Except 1 case out of 99 children, none of the children showed G. lamblia in the stool examination 2 weeks after administration of the drug, regardless of groups. 2) 4 weeks after administration of the drug, group A (10 mg per kg for 7 days) and group B (5 mg per kg for 7 days) children showed 100% of negative conversion, but group C (10 mg per kg for 5 days) children revealed 84.6% of negatives. 3) 6 months later, the negative conversion rates in groups A, B and C were reduced to 54.5%, 57. 1% and 50. 0% respectively. 4) Mild or transient side effects-nausea, abdominal pain, headache or fever and diarrhea were noted in 16 cases (27. 1%) out of 59 cases.

List, Key and a New Record of the Genera and Species of the Subfamily Typhlodrominae (Acari: Phytoseiidae) in Korea

This study treated the list and key to the 8 species of the subfamily Typhlodrominae from Korea including a newly recorded species, T. coryli Wu and Lan, 1991. This subfamily comprises four genera: Kuzinellus Wainstein, Paraseiulus Muma, Galendromus Muma, Typhlodromus Scheuten. Key characters of the genera in Typhlodrominae have been well known as the number and position of the dorsal setae. Therefore, Typhlodrominae was previously referred to one genus, Typhlodromus in Korea. However, the nominal species in the Phytoseiidae has increased in number exponentially more than 2,280 in the world today, so the current classification of the family is taken more genera by other characters, not only dorsal chaetotaxy but also the setation and the nature of the posterior margin of the sternal shield, the shape and setation of the ventrianal shield, setation of legs I-IV and the relative lengths of the setae Z4 and Z5. Thus, Korean Typhlodrominae includes four genera, Kuzinellus Wainstein, Paraseiulus Muma, Galendromus Muma and Typhlodromus Scheuten.

제주도산 이리응애 4종(응애아강, 이리응애과)

제주도산 이리응애 4종인 Amblyseius (Amblyseius) barkeri, A. (A.) womersleyt, A. (A.) eharai와 Phytoseius (Pennaseius) hongkongensis를 보고한다. 그 중에서 한국미기록종인 Amblyseius (Amblyseius) barkeri(나팔이리응애)와 Phytoseius (Pennaseius) hongkongensis(홍콩이리응애)를 재기재하였다. Pennaseius아속은 한국에서 처음으로 보고된다. Amblyseius (Amblyseius) barkeri, A. (A.) womersleyi, A.(A.) eharai, and Phytoseius (Pennaseius) hongkongensis are recorded in Korea, are redescribed based on specimens from island. The subgenus Pennaseius is recorded for the first time in this country.

한국의 나주 지방의 배 과수원에 서식하는 이리응애는 6종이었다. 이 가운데 A. bukeri와 p. nemotoi는 이 과수원에서 처음으로 보고되며, Proprioseiopsis속은 한국에서 처음으로 보고되었다. Six species of the phytoseiid mites were recorded from the pear field of Naju District in Korea: Amblyseius womersleyi, A. eharai, A. orientalis, A. makuwa, A. bakeri and Proprioseiopsis nemotoi. Of these, A. bakeri and p. nemotoi were previously unrecorded in this field, and genus Proprioseiopsis is recorded for the first time in Korea.

Ten Newly Recorded Phytoseiid Mites (Acarina: Phytoseiidae) from Korea

Ten species of Phytoseiidae, Amblyseius (Amblyseius) oguroi, Amblyseius (Amblyseius) koyamanus, Amblyseius (Amblyseius) obtuserellus, Amblyseius (Amblyseius) okinawanus, Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) chinensis, Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) serrulatus, Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) yasumatsui, Typhlodromus (Paraseiulus) yokogawae, Typhlodromus (Galendromus) occidentalis, and Phytoseius (Phytoseius) capitatus are newly recorded from Korea. The males of Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) chinensis, Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) serrulatus, Typhlodromus (Paraseiulus) yokogawae, and Phytoseius (Phytoseius) capitatus are recorded for the first time in this study. 한국산 이리응애를 동정한 결과, Amblyseius (Amblyseius) oguroi(돌이리응애, 신칭), Amblyseius (Amblyseius) koyamanus (줄무늬이리응애, 신칭 ), Amblyseius (Amblyseius) obtuserellus (과립이리응애, 신칭 ), Amblyseius (Amblyseius) okinawanus (남방이리응애, 신칭), Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) chinensis (청이리응애, 신칭), Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) serrulatus (톱니이리응애, 신칭), Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) yasumatsui (임금이리응애, 신칭), Typhlodromus (Paraseiulus) yokogawae (바늘이리응애, 신칭), Typhlodromus (Galendromus) occidentalis (서양이리응애, 신칭), 그리고 Phytoseius (Phytoseius) capitatus (두상이리응애, 신칭) 10종의 한국미기록종이 동정되었다. T. (A.) chinensis, T (A.) serrulratus, T. (P.)yokogawae, 그리고 P. (P.) capitatus의 수컷은 본 연구에서 처음으로 보고되었다.
