        Thermodynamic analysis and phase characterization of hercynite with TiO2 addition

        Analytically pure Fe2O3, Al2O3 and TiO2 were used as raw materials, batched in the TiO2: Fe2O3: Al2O3 mass ratio of 0: 44:56 and 2: 44:56, respectively, and pressed into specimens with size of Φ25 mm × 30 mm. The green specimens were firedin a CO2 and CO mixing atmosphere at 1550 oC for 6hrs. The fired specimens were characterized by XRD, Rietveldrefinement, SEM, EDS, and XPS to investigate the existing state of TiO2 in the synthesized specimens. The resultsshow that after firing at 1550 oC for 6 hrs, the specimen added with TiO2 has a homogeneous structure andas its phase. The introduced TiO2 participates in the synthesis reaction ofhercynite and enters into crystal lattices of hercynite in the form of Ti4+. Ti4+ occupies the tetrahedron and octahedronpositions, increasing the lattice constant.

        Study on thermal conductivity of periclase-hercynite bricks prepared from fused or sintered hercynite

        Periclase-hercynite bricks were prepared from fused or reaction-sintered hercynite. The microstructure of the obtained brickswas studied and their thermal conductivity in the simulated on-site condition was tested. The results show that the mutualdiffusion of Fe or Al from hercynite and Mg from periclase forms more pores in the material. Compared with the brickprepared from fused hercynite, the brick from reaction-sintered hercynite has smaller pore size. The thermal conductivitysimulation test of the two bricks at 1550 oC shows that the cold end temperature of the brick synthesized from the reactionsinteredhercynite is 40 oC lower than that of the brick from the fused hercynite. Thus, in consideration of reducing the shelltemperature of the cement rotary kilns, the reaction-sintered hercynite is more favorable for the production of periclasehercynitebricks.

        Quantitative Analysis of Critical Limitation in Using Extended State Observer

        Active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) has been successfully widely applied. The extended stateobserver (ESO) is a crucial component of ADRC to deal with uncertainties in many control systems. Althoughthe nominal stability of ADRC was proved by adopting a sufficiently fast observer with a performance recoveryprinciple, it is difficult to be employed in practice because severe oscillation or even instability might be triggeredif the fast observer was used. This paper investigates the reason behind this phenomenon within the frameworkof input time-delay sensitivity for a typical first-order system, which can provide an insightful understanding ofADRC. The positive root of the polynomial which determines the maximal input time-delay maintaining closed loopstability is quantitatively analyzed and the relationship among the bandwidth of ESO, other control parametersand the allowable input time-delay is thoroughly studied. Finally, numerical examples are presented to validate thecorresponding theoretical results.

      • Toward Anomaly Detection in IaaS Cloud Computing Platforms

        In order to monitor the running status of IaaS cloud computing platforms, performance metric data are collected to perform anomaly detection for IaaS cloud computing platforms and determine whether the IaaS cloud computing platforms fail to run normally. However, it is challenging to effectively detect performance anomalies from a large amount of noisy and high dimensional performance metric data. In this paper, an efficient anomaly detection scheme is proposed for IaaS cloud computing platforms. The proposed scheme first designs a global locality preserving projection algorithm to perform feature extraction on performance metric data, and then introduces a local outlier factor algorithm to detect anomalies. A series of experiments are conducted on a private cloud computing platform. Experimental results show that our proposed global locality preserving projection algorithm outperforms the principal components analysis algorithm and the locality preserving projection algorithm and our proposed anomaly detection scheme is better than the state-of-the-art schemes for IaaS cloud computing platforms.

      • Data-driven Anomaly Detection Method for Monitoring Runtime Performance of Cloud Computing Platforms

        Cloud computing platforms are complex system, which consist of a lot of software working together. Because of software defects, cloud computing platforms may has performance anomaly during runtime. In this paper, a data-driven anomaly detection method is proposed to monitor runtime performance for cloud computing platforms. The proposed method can not only detect the performance anomaly of cloud computing platforms during runtime, but also find out which performance metric results in the anomaly. A series of experiments are conducted on a real private cloud computing platform based on OpenStack and experimental results show the proposed method is better than previous anomaly detection methods for cloud computing platforms.

      • A Virtual Machine Instance Anomaly Detection System for IaaS Cloud Computing

        Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) is one of the three important fundamental service models provided by cloud computing. It provides users with computing resource and storage resource in terms of virtual machine instances. Because of the rapid development of cloud computing, more and more application systems have been deployed on the IaaS cloud computing platforms. Therefore, once anomalies incur in the IaaS cloud computing platforms, all the application systems cannot work normally. In order to enhance the dependability of IaaS cloud computing platform, a virtual machine instance anomaly detection system is proposed for IaaS cloud computing platform to detect virtual machine instances that exhibit abnormal behaviors. The proposed virtual machine instance system consists of four modules that are the data collection, the data transmission, the data storage, and the anomaly detection. In order to reduce the computing complexity and improve the detection precision, the anomaly detection module introduces the principal components analysis to reprocess the collected data and then adopts the Bayesian decision theory to detect the abnormal data. Experimental results show that the proposed virtual machine instance anomaly detection system is effective.

        Transcript Profiling of Toll-Like Receptor mRNAs in Selected Tissues of Mink (Neovison vison)

        Toll-like receptors (TLRs) can recognize conserved molecular patterns and initiate a wide range of innate and adaptive immune responses against invading infectious agents. The aim of this study was to assess the transcript profile of mink TLRs (mTLRs) in mink peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and a range of tissues, and to explore the potential role of mTLRs in the antiviral immune response process. The results indicated that the mTLR partial nucleotide sequences had a high degree of nucleotide identity with ferret sequences (95-98%). Phylogenetic analysis showed that mammalian TLRs grouped into five TLR families, with a closer relationship of the mTLRs with those of ferret than the other mammalian sequences. Moreover, all the mTLRs were ubiquitously expressed in lymphoid organs (spleen and lymph nodes) and PBMCs. Interestingly, the mTLR expression patterns in lung, uterus, and heart showed quite a lot of similarity. Another remarkable observation was the wide expression of mTLR1-3 mRNAs in all tissues. Among the analyzed tissues, skeletal muscle was revealed to being the lowest repertoire of mTLR expression. Additionally, mink PBMCs exposed to the canine distemper virus revealed significant upregulation of mTLR2, mTLR4, mTLR7, and mTLR8 mRNAs, indicating that mTLRs have a role in innate immunity in the mink. Collectively, our results are the first to establish the basic expression patterns of mTLRs and the relationship between mTLRs and a virus, which will contribute to better understanding of the evolution and the functions of mTLRs in the innate immune system in minks.

        circLETM1 upregulates KRT80 via adsorbing miR-143-3p and promotes the progression of colorectal cancer

        Background Emerging evidence has indicated that circular RNAs (circRNAs) play vital roles in colorectal cancer (CRC). CircRNA leucine zipper and EF-hand containing transmembrane protein 1 (circLETM1) have been found to be ectopic in CRC, but their role in CRC has not been studied yet. Objective This study aims to explore the roles of circLETM1 in CRC and the possible molecular mechanism. Result The results showed that circLETM1 was highly expressed in CRC cells, and was localized at the cytoplasm. Functional assays verifi ed that overexpression of circLETM1 could facilitate, but circLETM1 downregulation could hamper proliferation, migration and invasion abilities of CRC cells. In addition, mechanism assays found that circLETM1 absorbed and reduced microRNA (miR)-143-3p expression to promote keratin 80 (KRT80). Rescue experiments proved that circLETM1 mediated CRC proliferation, migration and invasion through KRT80. Conclusion Taken together, our results suggested that circLETM1 promotes proliferation, migration and invasion through the miR-143-3p/KRT80 axis in CRC. Therefore, targeting circLETM1 may provide a novel option for CRC treatment.

        Penetrating honeycomb structured MOF flexible membrane with ultrahigh flux and excellent catalytic activity

        MOF-polymer mixed matrix catalytic membrane has excellent potential for applications in continuousflow separation and catalysis. However, scalable fabrication methods to produce ultra-high flux mixedmatrix catalytic membranes are urgently needed yet to be largely met. Inspired by the honeycomb structure,composite MOF with polymer materials possessing rapidly prepare large area MOF-polymer mixedmatrix catalytic membrane with penetrated honeycomb structure. The bulk loading of MOFs linked thewalls of the honeycomb, endowing the MOF-polymer mixed matrix membrane with large surface areasand abundant pore channels. The porous MOF material links the pore walls of the honeycomb structure,which not only enables the rapid passage of reactants, but also greatly enhances the mutual contact betweenthe membrane and the reactants, achieving rapid passage and efficient catalysis. The 0.6-ZIF-8/Pd-TPU porosity reaches 69% and the specific surface area can reach 828.35 m2/g. The water flux reached3290 L m2 h1 and the treatment efficiency of different dyes and 4-NP under vacuum pump filtrationreached 99%. This preparation method was extended to other porous materials, and membranes weresuccessfully prepared with good catalytic effects. This strategy paves the way for the development of highflux and efficient catalytic membranes.
