        Music can always bring out infinite reverie. Famous music website like last.fm further tags music based on raised emotions, from sadness to joy. Color on the other hand, is believed to have a connection with human emotions. This paper proposes a music visualization system Muvis that digs out emotion from music which is represented by color from a revised HSV color model and the mapping process adopt a simplified linear probability density function to fit emotion’s Gaussian distribution. After that, we use three dimensions of space to display the music with particle system in a visually meaningful way. By making use of both low level features, such as intensity, and high level features such as emotion, Muvis can give user a better understanding of the music content. Examples are presented for music with different emotion and user studies are shown our method can create enjoyable result and enhance emotional resonance at the same time.

        Structural and component characterization of the B4C neutron conversion layer deposited by magnetron sputtering

        Neutron conversion detectors that use 10B-enriched boron carbide are feasible alternatives to 3 He-based detectors. We prepared boron carbide films at micron-scale thickness using direct-current magnetron sputtering. The structural characteristics of natural B4C films, including density, roughness, crystallization, and purity, were analyzed using grazing incidence X-ray reflectivity, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry, and scanning electron microscopy. A beam profile test was conducted to verify the practicality of the 10B-enriched B4C neutron conversion layer. A clear profile indicated the high quality of the neutron conversion of the boron carbide layer.
