Association between physiological and agronomic traits and selection of tropical wheat

Henrique Caletti Mezzomo,Cleiton Renato Casagrande,Caique Machado e Silva,Aluízio Borém,Maicon Nardino 한국작물학회 2021 Journal of crop science and biotechnology Vol.24 No.2

The aims of this study are to verify the existence of canonical correlations between physiological and agronomic traits of 40 lines of tropical wheat using the REML/BLUP (restricted maximum likelihood/best linear unbiased prediction) method and select genotypes with the best performance using four selection indexes. For such, 40 tropical wheat genotypes were evaluated in a field experiment in Viçosa, MG, Brazil. The physiological traits (group I) of these genotypes were measured using an infrared gas analyzer, group II was formed by agronomic traits. The data were submitted to REML/BLUP and the predicted genotypic values (BLUP) were obtained to estimate genotypic correlation coeffi cients, canonical correlation coeffi cients between groups I and II, and to perform the selection of superior genotypes using the method of ranks summation index, multiplicative index, genotype-ideotype distance index and Z index. The maximum likelihood test revealed a significant effect of genotypes for all traits evaluated. Net photosynthetic rate it showed a positive correlation with stomatal conductance to H 2 O (0.32) and transpiration rate (0.79). Hectoliter weight has a significant association with physiological traits, positive for intercellular CO 2 concentration (0.56) and negative for leaf temperature (− 0.56) and transpiration rate (− 0.42). The correlation between groups was 0.78. The intercellular CO 2 concentration was directly related to disease note and hectoliter weight. The lines VI 14050, VI 14197 and VI 14950 coincide in the three selection indexes, with a potential for registration as a new cultivar.

Carcass characteristics and meat quality of lambs that are fed diets with palm kernel cake

        Rozilda da Conceicao dos Santos,Daiany Iris Gomes,Kaliandra Souza Alves,Rafael Mezzomo,Luis Rennan Sampaio Oliveira,Darley Oliveira Cutrim,Samara Bianca Moraes Sacramento,Elizanne de Moura Lima,Franci 아세아·태평양축산학회 2017 Animal Bioscience Vol.30 No.6

Objective: The aim was to evaluate carcass characteristics, cut yield, and meat quality in lambs that were fed different inclusion levels of palm kernel cake. Methods: Forty-five woolless castrated male Santa Inês crossbred sheep with an initial average body weight of 23.16±0.35 kg were used. The experimental design was a completely randomized design with five treatments, with palm kernel cake in the proportions of 0.0%, 7.5%, 15.0%, 22.5%, and 30.0% with nine replications per treatment. After slaughter, the gastrointestinal tract was weighed when it was full, after which it was then emptied. The heart, liver, kidney, pancreas perirenal fat were also collected and weighed. The carcass was split into two identical longitudinal halves and weighed to determine the quantitative and qualitative characteristics. Results: The empty body weight, carcass weight and yield, and fat thickness decreased linearly (p<0.05) as a function of palm kernel inclusion in the diet. There was no difference (p>0.05) for the rib eye area of animals that were fed palm kernel cake. There was a reduction in the commercial cut weight (p<0.05), except for the neck weight. The weights of the heart, liver, kidney fat, small, and large intestine, and gastrointestinal tract decreased. Nevertheless, the gastrointestinal content was greater for animals that were fed increasing levels of cake. For the other organs and viscera, differences were not verified (p>0.05). The sarcomere length decreased linearly (p<0.05), although an effect of the inclusion of palm kernel cake was not observed in other meat quality variables. It is worth noting that the red staining intensity, indicated as A, had a tendency to decrease (p = 0.050). Conclusion: The inclusion of palm kernel cake up to 30% in the diet does not lead to changes in meat quality characteristics, except for sarcomere length. Nevertheless, carcass quantitative characteristics decrease with the use of palm kernel cake.

Microshear bond strength of dual-cure resin cement in zirconia after different cleaning techniques: an in vitro study

Atoche-Socola, Katherine Joselyn,Arriola-Guillen, Luis Ernesto,Lopez-Flores, Ana Isabel,Garcia, Isadora Martini,Huertas-Mogollon, Gustavo,Collares, Fabricio Mezzomo,Leitune, Vicente Castelo Branco The Korean Academy of Prosthodonitics 2021 The Journal of Advanced Prosthodontics Vol.13 No.4

PURPOSE. This study aimed to compare the microshear bond strength (µSBS) of dual-cure resin cement in CAD-CAM zirconia after different cleaning techniques. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Fifty discs of zirconia-based ceramic from Ivoclar Vivadent were embedded in acrylic resin. The discs were divided into five groups according to the cleaning methods used: Group 1: drying with spraying + sandblasting with Al2O3; Group 2: washed with water and dried with spraying + sandblasting with Al2O3;Group 3: washed with distilled water and dried with spraying + sandblasting with Al2O3 + zirconium oxide (Ivoclean); Group 4: washed with distilled water and dried with spraying + sandblasting with Al2O3 + potassium hydroxide (Zirclean); and Group 5: washed with distilled water and dried with spraying + sandblasting with Al2O3 + 1% NaClO. All of the groups were contaminated with artificial saliva for 1 minute and then cleaned. Statistical analyses were performed using ANOVA and Tukey's tests. RESULTS. There were statistically significant differences among all groups for µSBS (P < .05). The group treated with zirconium oxide (Group 3) showed the highest µSBS (18.75 ± 0.23 MPa). CONCLUSION. When applied to zirconia, the cleaning methods affected the bonding with resin cement differently.
