A Chi-Square-Based Decision for Real-Time Malware Detection Using PE-File Features

Belaoued, Mohamed,Mazouzi, Smaine Korea Information Processing Society 2016 Journal of information processing systems Vol.9 No.3

The real-time detection of malware remains an open issue, since most of the existing approaches for malware categorization focus on improving the accuracy rather than the detection time. Therefore, finding a proper balance between these two characteristics is very important, especially for such sensitive systems. In this paper, we present a fast portable executable (PE) malware detection system, which is based on the analysis of the set of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) called by a program and some technical PE features (TPFs). We used an efficient feature selection method, which first selects the most relevant APIs and TPFs using the chi-square ($KHI^2$) measure, and then the Phi (${\varphi}$) coefficient was used to classify the features in different subsets, based on their relevance. We evaluated our method using different classifiers trained on different combinations of feature subsets. We obtained very satisfying results with more than 98% accuracy. Our system is adequate for real-time detection since it is able to categorize a file (Malware or Benign) in 0.09 seconds.

Development of new predictive analysis in the orthogonal metal cutting process by utilization of Oxley's machining theory

        Abdelkader Karas,Mohamed Bouzit,Mustapha Belarbi,Redha Mazouzi 국제구조공학회 2015 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.19 No.6

This paper presents a contribution to improving an analytical thermo-mechanical modeling of Oxley's machining theory of orthogonal metals cutting, which objective is the prediction of the cutting forces, the average stresses, temperatures and the geometric quantities in primary and secondary shear zones. These parameters will then be injected into the developed model of Karas et al. (2013) to predict temperature distributions at the tool-chip-workpiece interface. The amendment to Oxley's modified model is the reduction of the estimation of time-related variables cutting process such as cutting forces, temperatures in primary and secondary shear zones and geometric variables by the introduction the constitutive equation of Johnson-Cook model. The model-modified validation is performed by comparing some experimental results with the predictions for machining of 0.38% carbon steel.

Contribution of local materials and the recycling of slate in the constitution of hydraulic concrete pavements

        Tedjeddine Bendisari,Lynda A. Chaabane,Feriel Tires,Assma L. Mazouzi,Wissam Y. Bouayed,Abderrahman Lalimi,Kadid Moufek Techno-Press 2023 Advances in materials research Vol.12 No.4

The main objective of this article is to highlight the progress made in the development of new materials that have been gradually used by humans until today. Of course, this progress must be associated with other parameters in order to guarantee sustainable development. For this, today, it has become urgent to reduce the consumption of cement by resorting to its partial or total replacement by other similar materials in order to reduce CO2 emissions in our environment. This should certainly help to develop greener building materials. In this study, it was decided to proceed with the partial or total replacement of Portland cement type CEM II/B-L-42.5N by slate and lime that had not undergone any previous transformation. The results obtained revealed that the mortar whose substitution compared to the replacement of cement (100%) cement and sand (0/4) confers better kinetics than those of the series composed of(100%) cement and fraction rubble (0/1).
