DABCO-Catalyzed the Synthesis of Densely Functionalized Cyclohexanones in a Benign Manner

In this study, a robust DABCO-catalyzed method has been reported for the reaction of readily available material, including various aromatic/aliphatic aldehydes and acetoacetanilide affording N,N?-diaryl-2-aryl-6-hydroxy-6-methyl-4-oxocyclohexane-1,3-dicarboxamides. The reaction proceeds at 50 °C under solvent-free conditions via a one-pot pseudo-three-component reaction to yield functionalized cyclohexanones containing four quaternary stereogenic centers. Simple reaction conditions, moderate-to-high yields of product, no need of column chromatographic purification, eco-friendliness, shorter reaction time, and simple work-up has transformed this method an interesting route to the available procedures. The stereoselectivity of compounds was envisaged with crystallography and NMR spectroscopy.

The current work has been explored an expeditious tactic toward one-pot multicomponent synthesis of 1,2,4,5-tetrasubstituted and 2,4,5-trisubstituted imidazoles using Fe3O4@THAM-Pd MNPs as an effective catalyst. With readily accessible benzil, ammonium acetate, anilines, and aromatic aldehydes as the simple starting materials, the condensation is run under solvent-free conditions to afford the target products in high yields. The other salient features of the present catalytic system are a simple work-up process, shorter reaction times, ease of preparation and handling of the catalyst, and cleaner reaction profiles. In addition, the sustainability of the methodology was checked by the investigation of the stability and reusability of the catalyst using an external magnet. The results showed that Fe3O4 @THAM-Pd MNPs can be reused for successive five runs without an appreciable decline in catalytic efficiency.

In this study, a series of 2-amino-4H-chromenes and spirochromenes were elaborated and synthesized via a new sustainable one-pot three-component strategy from easily available materials including phloroglucinol, malononitrile, and aldehydes/isatins. Ceria nanoparticles (CeO2 NPs) were successfully applied as an effective catalyst that recycled and reused with a marginal decrement in its catalytic performance. The Lewis acid–base nature of the described nanocatalyst afforded the high yields of target products. The reaction is run in ethanol as a green solvent to create an environment-friendly process. The other salient merits of this methodology are a broad substrate scope, a simple operation, shorter reaction times, and no need for column chromatographic purification.
