      • Characterization of Novel <i>O</i>-Glycans Isolated from Tear and Saliva of Ocular Rosacea Patients

        <P><I>O</I>-Glycans in saliva and tear isolated from patients suffering from ocular rosacea, a form of inflammatory ocular surface disease, were profiled, and their structures were elucidated using high resolution mass spectrometry. We have previously shown that certain structures, particularly sulfated oligosaccharides, increased in the tear and saliva of rosacea patients. In this study, the structures of these glycans were elucidated using primarily tandem mass spectrometry. There were important similarities in the glycan profiles of tears and saliva with the majority of the structures in common. The structures of the most abundant species common to both tear and saliva, which were also the most abundant species in both, were elucidated. For sulfated species, the positions of the sulfate groups were localized. The majority of the structures were new, with the sulfated glycans comprising mucin <I>core 1</I>- and <I>core 2</I>-type structures. As both saliva and tear are rich in mucins, it is suggested that the <I>O</I>-glycans are mainly components of mucins.         Biochemical Characterization of a Novel Alkaline and Detergent Stable Protease from Aeromonas veronii OB3

        An organic solvent- and bleach-stable protease-producing strain was isolated from a polluted river water sample and identified as Aeromonas veronii OB3 on the basis of biochemical properties (API 20E) and 16S rRNA sequence analysis. The strain was found to hyper-produce alkaline protease when cultivated on fish waste powder-based medium (HVSP, 4080 U/ml). The biochemical properties and compatibility of OB3 with several detergents and additives were studied. Maximum activity was observed at pH 9.0 and 60℃. The crude protease displayed outstanding stability to the investigated surfactants and oxidants, such as Tween 80, Triton X-100, and H<sub>2</sub>O<sub>2</sub>, and almost 36% residual activity when incubated with 1% SDS. Remarkably, the enzyme demonstrated considerable compatibility with commercial detergents, retaining more than 100% of its activity with Ariel and Tide (1 h, 40℃). Moreover, washing performance of Tide significantly improved by the supplementation of small amounts of OB3 crude protease. These properties suggest the potential use of this alkaline protease as a bio-additive in the detergent industry and other biotechnological processes such as peptide synthesis.

        Structural, Electrical, and Optical Properties of Reactively Sputtered SnO2 Thin Films

        SnO2 thin films prepared by reactive rf magnetron sputtering have been investigated to examine the effect of deposition parameters on its crystallinity and electrical and optical properties. Of particular interest was whether the nonequilibrium nature of sputtering could create large departures from the bulk defect properties,especially in amorphous films. Two deposition parameters were examined: substrate temperature (Tsub) and oxygen content. The films were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), optical transmission, four point probe electrical conductivity, and Hall effect measurements. The crystallinity was found to be enhanced by the incease in each of the three processing variables. Below a substrate temperature of 300 °C a large processing window for depositing amorphous SnO2 was found.

        Some Siegel Threefolds with a Calabi-Yau Model II

        In a previous paper, we described some Siegel modular threefolds which admit a Calabi-Yau model. Using a different method we give in this paper an enlarged list of such varieties. Basic for this method is a paper of van Geemen and Nygaard. They study a variety $\mathcal{X}$ that is the complete intersection of four quadrics in $\mathbb{P}^7(\mathbb{C})$. This is biholomorphic equivalent to the Satake compactification of $\mathcal{H}_2/{\Gamma}^{\prime}$ for a certain subgroup ${\Gamma}^{\prime}{\subset}Sp(2,\mathbb{Z})$ and it will be the starting point of our investigation. It has been pointed out that a (projective) small resolution of this variety is a rigid Calabi-Yau manifold $\tilde{\mathcal{X}}$. Then we will consider the action of quotients of modular groups on $\mathcal{X}$ and study possible resolutions that admits a Calabi-Yau model in the category of complex spaces.

      • Physical Education Majors` Self-Efficacy Change Toward Inclusion: Contributions of Coursework and Student Teaching

        Purpose: Many physical education teacher education (PETE) programs offer an introductory adapted physical education (APE) course with a clinical, and student teaching opportunities in a sequence to help PETE majors to build teaching competencies, such as self-efficacy, toward inclusion (Jin, Yun, & Wegis, 2013). However, there is a lack of evidence showing how the APE course and student teaching influence PETE majors` self-efficacy toward inclusion. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether PETE major`s self-efficacy toward inclusion is improved after the APE course and student teaching. Method: A total of 197 PETE majors enrolled in an introductory APE course accompanying with a teaching clinical from Fall 2010 to Fall 2014 (9 semesters) participated in this study. The participants` self-efficacy was assessed using the Self-Efficacy Scale for Physical Education Teacher Education Majors toward Children with Disabilities (Block et al., 2013) at the beginning and end of the APE course. Self-efficacy of the 42 participants (out of 197) was additionally assessed at the end of student teaching. Result: Paired sample t-tests revealed that PETE majors` self-efficacy regarding four factors (i.e., peer instruction, staying on task, safety, and specific adaptation) and three instructional situations (i.e., conducting fitness testing, teaching sport skills, and actually playing sport) across intellectual disability (ID), physical disability (PD), and visual impairment (VI) was significantly improved through the APE course (P<.001). Between post-APE course and post-student teaching, however, PETE majors` self-efficacy regarding four factors and three instructional situations across ID, PD, and VI were not significantly improved, except for self-efficacy regarding ID staying on task, ID fitness testing, ID teaching sport skills, and ID play sport (P<.01). In addition, regressions found that self-efficacy regarding ID staying task, ID teaching skills, and ID play sport of PETE majors with APE minor were significantly more improved than non-APE minors (P<.01). Conclusion: Findings suggest that a well-designed APE course can improve PETE majors` self-efficacy toward inclusion, but may not adequately prepare PETE majors to effectively accommodate students with disabilities in real-world inclusive physical education settings.

        셀슈머(Sell-sumer)로 진화한 인플루언서의 새로운 유형과 소셜미디어에서의 세일즈 전략

        전 세계 인구의 49%가 소셜미디어 플랫폼을 사용하면서 소셜미디어 내에서의 소통과 콘텐츠 공유가 그 어느때보다 활발해지고 있다. 이러한 환경 속에서 1인미디어 시장이 빠른 속도로 성장하고 여론을 형성하면서 셀슈머(Sell-summer)라는 새로운 트렌드가 등장했다. 본 연구는 인플루언서의 상업적/비상업적 키워드의 주제 집중도와 상업적 포스팅의 비율이 매출에 미치는 영향 분석하여 제품 카테고리별 인플루언서의 새로운 유형을 정의하였다. 이는 소셜미디어 내에서 활동하는 인플루언서가 셀슈머로 변모하며 구사하는 새로운 세일즈 전략에 도움이 될 것으로 희망한다. 본 연구의 방법은 파이썬 환경에서 인플루언서의 상업적/비상업적 포스팅으로 분류하고, 이를 KoNLPy를 이용하여 텍스트 마이닝 한 후 FastText 기반 단어 간의 유사도를 계산하였다. 그 결과, 인플루언서의 상업적 포스팅의 키워드 주제 집중도가 높을수록(narrow) 매출이 높아진다는 것을 확인하였다. 또한, 군집분석을 통해 제품 카테고리별 인플루언서 유형을 4가지로 분류하고 매출에 따른 집단 간의 차이가 유의함을 확인하였다. 즉, 본 연구의 시사점은 소셜미디어에서 활동하는 인플루언서들과 이를 마케팅 도구로 활용하고자 하는 마케터들에게 소셜미디어 세일즈 전략의 실증적인 해법을 제시할 수 있을 것이다. As 49% of the world's population uses social media platforms, communication and content sharing within social media are becoming more active than ever. In this environmental base, the one-person media market grew rapidly and formed public opinion, creating a new trend called sell-sumer. This study defined new types of influencers by product category by analyzing the subject concentration of the commercial/non-commercial keywords of influencers and the impact of the ratio of commercial postings on sales. It is hoped that influencers working within social media will be helpful to new sales strategies that are transformed into sell-sumers. The method of this study classifies influencers’ commercial/non-commercial posts using Python, performs text mining using KoNLPy, and calculates similarity between FastText-based words. As a result, it has been confirmed that the higher the keyword theme concentration of the influencer's commercial posting, the higher the sales. In addition, it was confirmed through the cluster analysis that the influencer types for each product category were classified into four types and that there was a significant difference between groups according to sales. In other words, the implications of this study may suggest empirical solutions of social media sales strategies for influencers working on social media and marketers who want to use them as marketing tools.

      • Impact of H<sub>2</sub> High-Pressure Annealing Onto InGaAs Quantum-Well Metal–Oxide–Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistors With Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>/HfO<sub>2</sub> Gate-Stack

        <P>We report on the impact of H-2 high-pressure annealing (HPA) onto In0.7Ga0.3As MOSCAPs and quantum-well (QW) MOSFETs with Al2O3/HfO2 gate-stack. After HPA with process condition of 300 degrees C, H-2 ambient and pressure of 20 atm, we observed notable improvements of the capacitance-voltage (CV) characteristics in InGaAs MOSCAPs with Al2O3/HfO2 gate-stack, such as reduction of equivalent-oxide-thickness and less frequency dispersion in the accumulation region. There was 20% improvement of the interfacial trap density (D-it). Then, we incorporated the HPA process into the fabrication of sub-100-nm In0.7Ga0.3As QW MOSFETs, to investigate the impact of HPA process. After HPA process, the device with L-g = 50 nm exhibits improved subthreshold-swing (SS) = 105 mV/decade, in comparison with SS = 130 mV/decade for the reference device without HPA process. Finally, we carried out reliability assessment under a constant-voltage-stress (CVS), and it turns out that the HPA process was effective in mitigating a shift of threshold voltage (Delta V-T) during the CVS. These are attributed to the effective passivation of oxide traps in the high-k dielectric layer and interfacial traps, after HPA process in the H-2 ambient.</P>
