        (주)비비테크의 반도체장비 사업 성공과 글로벌화 노력

        한국은 현재 세계 1위의 반도체 생산대국으로 성장하였고, 반도체메모리 분야에서는 공급능력이나 공정기술, 가격 및 품질 면에서 세계 최고의 경쟁력을 보유하고 있다. 반면에, 반도체장비 산업은 원천 기술의 부족으로 인해 상당한 부분을 수입에 의존하고 있는 실정이며, 기술적인 장벽이 상대적으로 낮은 후(後)공정 장치에 편중되어 기술 확보 및 부품 산업 육성과 수익률 측면에서 어려움이 많다. ㈜비비테크(B.B.TECH.         Electric power consumption predictive modeling of an electric propulsion ship considering the marine environment

        This study predicts the power consumption of an Electric Propulsion Ship (EPS) in marine environment. The EPS is driven by a propeller rotated by a propulsion motor, and the power consumption of the propeller changes by the marine environment. The propulsion motor consumes the highest percentage of the ships' total power. Therefore, it is necessary to predict the power consumption and determine the power generation capacity and the propeller capacity to design an efficient EPS. This study constructs a power estimation simulator for EPS by using a ship motion model including marine environment and an electric power consumption model. The usage factor that represents the relationship between power consumption and propulsion is applied to the simulator for power prediction. Four marine environment scenarios are set up and the power consumed by the propeller to maintain a constant ship speed according to the marine environment is predicted in each scenario.

        Phenotypic and genetic characterization of adult T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia with del(9)(q34);SET-NUP214 rearrangement.

        <P>SET-NUP214 rearrangement is a recently recognized recurrent chromosomal translocation mostly observed in T-ALL. In order to characterize this rare entity, we performed phenotypic and genetic characterization of SET-NUP214 rearrangement through an investigation of a series of 40 consecutive samples of adult T-ALL that was selected among 229 adult ALL cases during 4?years in a single institution. Four cases (10%) of SET-NUP214 translocation were identified in our study. In all cases, diagnosis of T-ALL was established according to the World Health Organization (WHO) classification, and clonal TCR rearrangements were found. The immunophenotypic markers were indicative of the precursor nature of T lymphoblasts, and they expressed one or both of the myeloid-associated antigens (CD13, CD33). Conventional cytogenetic analysis revealed complex chromosomal aberrations in all four SET-NUP214 rearranged cases and del(12)(p13)/ETV6 was frequently involved. Array-CGH demonstrated additional genomic imbalances in addition to deletion 9q34. The genomic breakpoint sequencing identified breakpoints at SET intron 7 and NUP214 intron 17, and random nucleotide addition was found in two cases at the site of rearrangement. Our independently derived data set from a single institution confirms previous findings of SET-NUP214 rearrangement, indicates the relatively high incidence of SET-NUP214 rearrangement in adult T-ALLs, and also demonstrates comprehensive clinical, phenotypic, and genetic characteristics of this entity. Also, our report on genomic breakpoints demonstrates the homogeneity in the localization of the genomic breakpoints at 9q34. Concurrent chromosomal aberrations identified in this study should provide further areas of interest in investigation of SET-NUP214-mediated leukemogenesis.</P>

        <P>Substantial controversy exists over the role of prophylactic neck dissection for patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). We hypothesized that a therapeutic strategy of performing a routine intraoperative frozen section of the ipsilateral central lymph node (CLN) after elective ipsilateral CLN dissection (CLND) for all unilateral PTC and then performing a contralateral CLND if the frozen section is positive for malignancy would reduce morbidity compared to a therapeutic strategy of routine bilateral CLND.</P>

        Electrochemical Zinc-Ion Intercalation Properties and Crystal Structures of ZnMo<sub>6</sub>S<sub>8</sub> and Zn<sub>2</sub>Mo<sub>6</sub>S<sub>8</sub> Chevrel Phases in Aqueous Electrolytes

        <P>The crystal structures and electrochemical properties of ZnxMo6S8 Chevrel phases (x = 1, 2) prepared via electrochemical Zn2+-ion intercalation into the Mo6S8 host material, in an aqueous electrolyte, were characterized. Mo6S8 [trigonal, R (3) over bar, a = 9.1910(6) angstrom, c = 10.8785(10) angstrom, Z = 3] was first prepared via the chemical extraction of Cu ions from Cu2Mo6S8, which was synthesized via a solid-state reaction for 24 h at 1000 degrees C. The electrochemical zinc-ion insertion into Mo6S8 occurred stepwise, and two separate potential regions were depicted in the cyclic voltammogram (CV) and galvanostatic profile. ZnMo6S8 first formed from Mo6S8 in the higher-voltage region around 0.45-0.50 V in the CV, through a pseudo two-phase reaction. The inserted zinc ions occupied the interstitial sites in cavities surrounded by sulfur atoms (Zn1 sites). A significant number of the inserted zinc ions were trapped in these Znl sites, giving rise to the first-cycle irreversible capacity of similar to 46 mAh g(-1) out of the discharge capacity of 134 mAh g(-1) at a rate of 0.05 degrees C. In the lower-voltage region, further insertion occurred to form Zn2Mo6S8 at around 0.35 V in the CV, also involving a two-phase reaction. The electrochemical insertion and extraction into the Zn2 sites appeared to be relatively reversible and fast. The crystal structures of Mo6S8, ZnMo6S8, and Zn2Mo6S8 were refined using X-ray Rietveld refinement techniques, while the new structure of Zn2Mo6S8 was determined for the first time in this study using the technique of structure determination from powder X-ray diffraction data. With the zinc ions inserted into Mo6S8 forming Zn2Mo6S8, the cell volume and a parameter increased by 5.3% and 5.9%, respectively, but the c parameter decreased by 6.0%. The average Mo-Mo distance in the Mo-6 cluster decreased from 2.81 to 2.62 angstrom.</P>

      • Nitrate inhibits soybean nodulation by regulating expression of CLE genes

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Nitrogen compounds such as nitrate act as a potential inhibitor for legume nodulation. In this study, we isolated a new CLE gene, <I>GmNIC2</I>, from nitrate-treated roots, which shares high sequence homology with nitrate-induced CLE gene <I>GmNIC1</I>. Similar to <I>GmNIC1</I>, the expression level of <I>GmNIC2</I> was not significantly altered in roots by rhizobial inoculation and was much higher in young nodules than in roots. In addition, overexpression of <I>GmNIC2</I> led to similar nodulation inhibition of transgenic hairy roots to that of <I>GmNIC1</I>, which occurred in GmNARK-dependent manner and at the local level. By analyzing GmNARK loss-of-function mutant, SS2-2, it was found that expression levels of <I>GmNIC1</I> and <I>GmNIC2</I> in the SS2-2 roots were lower than in the wild type (WT) roots in response to nitrate. In contrast to <I>GmNIC1</I> and <I>GmNIC2</I>, expressions of <I>GmRIC1</I> and <I>GmRIC2</I> genes that are related to the autoregulation of nodulation (AON) were strongly suppressed both of the soybeans during all periods of nitrate treatment and even were not induced by additional inoculation with rhizobia. Taken together, the results of this study suggest that GmNIC2, as an active homologous gene located in chromosome 13, acts locally to suppress nodulation, like GmNIC1, and nitrate inhibition of nodulation is led by fine-tuned regulation of both nitrate-induced CLEs and rhizobia-induced CLEs.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> A new nitrate-induced CLE gene, <I>GmNIC2</I>, is isolated from soybean roots. </LI> <LI> GmNIC2 acts as a local signal in nitrate inhibition of nodulation, like GmNIC1. </LI> <LI> Nitrate induces lower expression of <I>GmNIC</I> genes in the supernodulation mutant. </LI> <LI> Nitrate inhibits expression of rhizobia-induced <I>CLEs</I> after rhizobial inoculation. </LI> <LI> Nitrate inhibition of nodulation is led by a fine-tune regulation between CLEs. </LI> </UL> </P>

      • Risk prediction for 30-day heart failure-specific readmission or death after discharge: Data from the Korean Acute Heart Failure (KorAHF) registry

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P><B>Background</B></P> <P>Identifying patients with acute heart failure (HF) at high risk for readmission or death after hospital discharge will enable the optimization of treatment and management. The objective of this study was to develop a risk score for 30-day HF-specific readmission or death in Korea.</P> <P><B>Methods</B></P> <P>We analyzed the data from the Korean Acute Heart Failure (KorAHF) registry to develop a risk score. The model was derived from a multiple logistic regression analysis using a stepwise variable selection method. We also proposed a point-based risk score to predict the risk of 30-day HF-specific readmission or death by simply summing the scores assigned to each risk variable. Model performance was assessed using an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), the Hosmer–Lemeshow goodness-of-fit test, the net reclassification improvement (NRI), and the integrated discrimination improvement (IDI) index to evaluate discrimination, calibration, and reclassification, respectively.</P> <P><B>Results</B></P> <P>Data from 4566 patients aged ≥40 years were included in the analysis. Among them, 446 (9.8%) had 30-day HF-specific readmission or death. The final model included 12 independent variables (age, New York Heart Association functional class, clinical history of hypertension, HF admission, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, etiology of cardiomyopathy, systolic blood pressure, left ventricular ejection fraction, serum sodium, brain natriuretic peptide, N-terminal prohormone of brain natriuretic peptide at discharge, and prescription of β-blockers and angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors or angiotensin II receptor antagonists at discharge). The point risk score showed moderate discrimination (AUC of 0.710; 95% confidence interval, 0.685–0.735) and good calibration (<I>χ</I> <SUP>2</SUP> =8.540, <I>p</I> =0.3826).</P> <P><B>Conclusions</B></P> <P>The risk score for the prediction of the risk of 30-day HF-specific readmission or death after hospital discharge was developed using 12 predictors.         High-dose versus Low-dose 5-Fluorouracil and Cisplatin Based Hepatic Arterial Infusion Chemotherapy for Advanced Hepatocellular Carcinoma

        Backgrounds/Aims: Hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) has been reported as an effective treatment for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma. The aim of this study is to compare the effect and safety between a high-dose regimen (750 mg/m2 5-fluorouracil [FU] and 25 mg/m2 cisplatin on day 1-4) and a low-dose regimen (500 mg/m2 5-FU on day 1-3 with 60 mg/m2 cisplatin on day 2). Methods: A total of 48 patients undergoing HAIC were retrospectively analyzed. Thirty-two patients were treated with the high-dose and 16 patients with the low-dose regimen. Results: Complete response (CR), partial response (PR), stable disease (SD), and progressive disease were noted in one (3.1%), 15 (46.9%), three (9.4%), and 13 patients (40.6%) in the highdose group, and 0 (0%), one (6.3%), eight (50%), and seven patients (43.8%) in the low-dose group (p=0.002). The disease control rate (CR, PR, and SD) did not differ between groups (59.4% vs. 56.3%, p=1.000), but the objective response rate (CR and PR) was significantly higher in the high-dose group (50.0% vs. 6.3%, p=0.003). The median progression free survival did not differ between groups (4.0 vs. 6.0, p=0.734), but overall survival was significantly longer in the high-dose group (not reached vs. 16.0, p=0.028). Fourteen (43.8%) patients in the highdose group and two patients (12.5%) in the low-dose group experienced grade 3-4 toxicities (p=0.050). Conclusions: High dose HAIC may achieve better tumor response and may improve overall survival compared to a low-dose regimen. However, the high-dose regimen should be administered cautiously because of the higher incidence of adverse events. (J Liver Cancer 2019;19:38-45)
