This study examines newly discovered works by Lee Young-Ak’s. Rewarding Youth, his rare novel based on a true story, is especially significant as the poet left the world little prose. The novel faithfully reflects the demands of North Korean literary circles to emphasize the primary role of young people in restoring the devastated nation in 1955 after the Korean War, and showcases Lee’s unique literary voice. The epic narrative style and grief-stricken lyricism emphasized in Lee’s early poetry are also evident in this novel. Through other works by Lee including Down the Mountains, Go Forward! Go Forward Like Lightning, and Revenge for Blood a Million Times, all of which were discovered along with Rewarding Youth, it can be seen how his poetic oeuvre unfolded in North Korean literary circles after his defection. This study also reveals how unlike other South Korean poets who had defected to North Korea, Lee was active in and faithful to socialist literature.

We present an ultraconcentrated electrolyte composed of 5 M sodium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide in 1,2-dimethoxyethane for Na metal anodes coupled with high-voltage cathodes. Using this electrolyte, a very high Coulombic efficiency of 99.3% at the 120th cycle for Na plating/stripping is obtained in Na/stainless steel (SS) cells with highly reduced corrosivity toward Na metal and high oxidation durability (over 4.9 V versus Na/Na+) without corrosion of the aluminum cathode current collector. Importantly, the use of this ultraconcentrated electrolyte results in substantially improved rate capability in Na/SS cells and excellent cycling performance in Na/Na symmetric cells without the increase of polarization. Moreover, this ultraconcentrated electrolyte exhibits good compatibility with high-voltage Na4Fe3(PO4)(2)(P2O7) and Na-0.7(Fe0.5Mn0.5)O-2 cathodes charged to high voltages (>4.2 V versus Na/Na+), resulting in outstanding cycling stability (high reversible capacity of 109 mAh g(-1) over 300 cycles for the Na/Na4Fe3(PO4)(2)(P2O7) cell) compared with the conventional dilute electrolyte, 1 M NaPF6 in ethylene carbonate/propylene carbonate (5/5, v/v).

$^{18}F-FDG$ Positron Emission Tomography in Patients with Concomitant Malignancy and Tuberculoma
Lee, Jung-Cheol,Ryu, Jin-Sook,Park, I-Nae,Choi, Chang-Min,Oh, Yeon-Mok,Lee, Sang-Do,Kim, Woo-Sung,Kim, Dong-Soon,Shim, Tae-Sun The Korean Academy of Tuberculosis and Respiratory 2010 Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases Vol.68 No.1
Background: To analyze the result of $^{18}F-FDG$ positron emission tomography (PET) in patients with a concomitant malignancy and tuberculoma in a tuberculosis (TB)-endemic area. Methods: Twelve patients with a concomitant malignancy and tuberculoma, who underwent whole-body $^{18}F-FDG$ PET, were evaluated retrospectively. The maximal standardized uptake values (SUVmax) of the malignancy and tuberculoma were compared. In 6 patients, $^{18}F-FDG$ PET was repeated during the anti-TB treatment and the changes in SUVmax were analyzed. Results: Of the 12 patients, 10 were male. The mean age was $67.2{\pm}7.9$ years. Tuberculomas were located in the lung (n=10) and lymph nodes (n=2), and tumors were located in the lung (n=6), colon (n=3), stomach (n=1), ovary (n=1) and liver (n=1). Although the mean SUVmax of malignant lesions was higher than that of tuberculomas ($5.2{\pm}3.2$ vs $3.5{\pm}2.0$), the difference was not significant. In 4 patients, the SUVmax was higher in the tuberculoma than the tumor. After anti-TB treatment in 6 patients, the mean SUVmax of the tuberculomas decreased significantly, from $3.5{\pm}2.0$ to $1.6{\pm}0.9$ (p=0.028). Conclusion: In patients with a concomitant malignancy and tuberculoma, SUVmax alone could not differentiate between them. However, $^{18}F-FDG$ PET may be useful in monitoring the response to anti-TB treatment.

This study examined effects of the fermented leachate of food waste (FLFW) on nitrogen and phosphorous removal for domestic wastewater containing a low carbon-to-nitrogen (C/N) ratio in sequencing batch reactor (SBR). When the FLFW was not supplied in the process, release of phosphorus and excessive intake was not observed at both anaerobic and aerobic stages. On the other hand, when the FLFW was gradually added, active release of phosphorus and intake of phosphorus was noticed at an anaerobic stage and aerobic stage, respectively, resulting in improved phosphorus removal efficiency. The removal efficiency of nitrogen and phosphorus was increased from 75% and 37% (R-1, control test) to 97% and 80% (R-4, the highest substrate ratio test), respectively. In addition, although activity of the nitrogen oxidizing microorganisms was reduced when the reaction temperature was decreased to 10°C, the phosphorus removal efficiency was shown to increase with the addition of FLFW, indicating an independence from temperature. Overall, this study suggests that an efficient nutrients removal process can be successfully employed into a SBR when the FLFW is added to a wastewater which has a low C/N ratio.
Permanent Pacemaker for Syncope after Heart Transplantation with Bicaval Technique

Sinus node dysfunction occurs occasionally after heart transplantation and may be caused by surgical trauma, ischemia to the sinus node, rejection, drug therapy, and increasing donor age. However, the timing and indication of permanent pacemaker insertion due to sinus node dysfunction following heart transplantation is contentious. Here, we report a case of a permanent pacemaker insertion for syncope due to sinus arrest after heart transplantation, even with a bicaval technique, which has been known to associate with few incidences of sinus node dysfunction.
