Mycoplasma hominis was isolated from a Bartholin's gland abscess 70 years ago, and ureaplasmas were isolated from the genital tract about 20 years later. Subsequently, reports incriminating mycoplasmas in the known adverse outcomes of pregnancy have been reported. Without doubt these genital mycoplasmas are able to invoke an inflammatory response and take part in the cascade of events that culminate in preterm birth. Amniotic fluid infection results in considerable pregnancy wastage in the pregnancy. In these cases Gram-positive organisms, especially group B streptococcus and Streptococcus viridans were the most common pathogens isolated. In our case, the patient has fever and vaginal discharge at 14+4 weeks gestation and two days after intrauterine fetal death was seen. The vaginal culture and sensitivity shown Mycoplasma hominis and Vihdans streptococcus. We experienced a case of Mycoplasma hominis and Viridans streptococcus infection in a patient with intrautehne fetal death and report with a brief review of literatures.

Drug-induced torsades de pointes (TdP) have been linked to a sudden cardiac death. Prolongation of the action potential duration (APD) and the QT interval (PQT), in nonclinical assays, have been investigated before drug development. However, TdP can often occur without any appreciable QT prolongation, and drug development companies and researchers may ask better accurate models or methods. We wish to verify whether it is effective to determine the cardiac toxicity as a result of the measurement using the TRIaD assay in the rabbit cardiac monophasic action potential. ‘TRIaD’ means Trianguation, Reverse use dependence, Instability and Dispersion. In this study, to confirm this assay, control, negative control and positive control were classified based on the degree of cardiotoxicity. Control group was perfused by only normal Tyrode’s solution. Diltiazem and Amoxicillin were used as negative controls. Terfenadine, Quinidine, Amiodarone, and Nifedipine were used as positive controls. Based on these, proarrhythmic scores were calculated as follow: instability 20 points, triangulation 10 points, and RUD 5 points. Both in control and negative groups, proarrhythmic score did not exceed the 25 points, but exceeded in all positive groups. These data propose that this is robust and reliable assay that can add value to drug-induced prolongation/TdP risk assessment. Additionally, this assay provides detailed information on the overall profile of drug-induced electrophysiological effects. Therefore, TRIaD assay can be a valuable to establish for the cardiovascular risk assessment of drugs.

This letter presents a crosstalk-enhanced polymer thermo-optic digital optical switch operating at a low power consumption. Modified radiation-type attenuators are integrated in a series with a conventional 1× 2 digital optical switch. A low optical crosstalk of less than -45 dB is attained at a low applied switching power of 60 mW, and an insertion loss of about 1.1 dB is exhibited.

<P>We present a 10-channel polymer thermo-optic digital optical switch (DOS) array with very low optical crosstalk. The 10-channel DOS array has a crosstalk-improved structure in which radiation-type attenuators are integrated in a series with a conventional 1 times 2 DOS. It is fabricated using a quartz substrate on which grid patterns for dispersion of stray light are formed to reduce the optical crosstalk. The measured crosstalk values are as low as -45 dB at a low electrical power of 50 mW. Insertion losses of less than 1.35 dB are achieved for all channels.</P>

Solar thermochemical syngas and hydrogen production process by redox system of metal oxide was performed under direct irradiation of the metal oxide on the SiC ceramic foam device using solar simulator. CeO2/ZrO2 nanotube has been synthesized by anodic oxidation method. Syngas and hydrogen production process is one of the promising chemical pathway for storage and transportation of solar heat by converting solar energy to chemical energy. The produced syngas had the H2/CO ratio of 2, which was suitable for methanol synthesis or Fischer-Tropsch synthesis process. After ten cycles of redox reaction, CeO2 was analyzed using XRD pattern and SEM image in order to characterize the physical and chemical change of metal oxide at the high temperature.

Syngas and hydrogen production from Ce1-XZrXO2 solid solution was investigated under simulated solar radiation. The Ce1-XZrXO2 solid solution (x = 0.2, 0.5, 0.7) was prepared by using precipitation method. The methane reforming (reduction) and water splitting (oxidation) were performed at 900℃.The produced syngas had the H2/CO ratio of 2.0, which was suitable for methanol synthesis or Fischer-Tropsch synthesis process. In addition, syngas and hydrogen production process is one of the promising chemical pathway for storage and transportation of solar heat by converting solar energy to chemical energy. The methane reforming-water splitting were performed for five repeated cycles to compare the CeO2 conversion, H2 yield, H2/CO ratio and the cycle reproducibility.
