Plasmonic effects and size relation of gold-platinum alloy nanoparticles
Jawad, Muhammad,Ali, Shazia,Waseem, Amir,Rabbani, Faiz,Amin, Bilal Ahmad Zafar,Bilal, Muhammad,Shaikh, Ahson J. Techno-Press 2019 Advances in nano research Vol.7 No.3
Plasmonic effects of gold and platinum alloy nanoparticles (Au-Pt NPs) and their comparison to size was studied. Various factors including ratios of gold and platinum salt, temperature, pH and time of addition of reducing agent were studied for their effect on particle size. The size of gold and platinum alloy nanoparticles increases with increasing concentration of Pt NPs. Temperature dependent synthesis of gold and platinum alloy nanoparticles shows decrease in size at higher temperature while at lower temperature agglomeration occurs. For pH dependent synthesis of Au-Pt nanoparticles, size was found to be increased by increase in pH from 4 to 10. Increasing the time of addition of reducing agent for synthesis of pure and gold-platinum alloy nanoparticles shows gradual increase in size as well as increase in heterogeneity of nanoparticles. The size and elemental analysis of Au-Pt nanoparticles were characterized by UV-Vis spectroscopy, XRD, SEM and EDX techniques.
Induction Motors Performance Study under Various Voltage Sags Using Simulation
Ojaghi, Mansour,Faiz, Jawad,Shahrouzi, Hamid,Alimohammadi, Sahar Journal of International Conference on Electrical 2012 Journal of international Conference on Electrical Vol.1 No.3
The main aim of this paper is to study effects of different voltage sags and their intensity on the behavior of induction motors using a simulation approach. For this purpose, necessary simulation was done in Matlab - Simulink first. Then, to ensure-reasonable accuracy of the simulation, some results of the simulation were compared with the corresponding results measured in the laboratory. Then effects of intensity of symmetric voltage sag (three phase) and its starting point on the behavior of small and large induction motors was studied using simulation and subsequently, the effects of asymmetric voltage sags (single phase and two phase) has also been studied and finally the conclusion of the study was presented.

Thyristor controlled series capacitor (TCSC) can regulate line impedance and therefore increase transferred power of the system. On the other hand power system stabilizer (PSS) increases dynamic stability of generator. To enhance the stability, combination of TCSC and PSS can be applied, and in such a case coordination of TCSC and PSS is essential. This paper applies this combined controller in order to enhance the stability of multi-machine system. Parameters of these controllers are optimized by velocity update relaxation particle swarm optimization (VURPSO) algorithm and Genetic algorithm (GA). The simulation results show that the combination of VURPSO algorithm and GA leads to a better design and stability.
Classification and Comparison of EMI Mitigation Techniques in Switching Power Converters – A Review
Mohammad Rouhollah Yazdani,Hosein Farzanehfard,Jawad Faiz 전력전자학회 2011 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.11 No.5
Power electronic systems such as switching power supplies are accounted as noise sources for other sensitive circuits. EMI caused by power converters can disturb the normal operation of the converter and other adjacent systems. Major research is concentrated on EMI mitigation for power converters in which the main concern is compliance with EMC standards to ensure proper operation of converters and nearby systems. This paper reviews EMI reduction techniques related to switching power converters with emphasis on the conducted EMI. A comprehensive review of significant research works is performed and various methods are thoroughly discussed and compared. Also, a classification of methods is presented. Moreover, converter prototypes are realized which contain several EMI mitigation techniques and their effects are presented via experimental results.

This paper describes a novel Direct Torque Control (DTC) method for adjustable speed Doubly-Fed Induction Machine (DFIM) drives which is supplied by a two-level Space Vector Modulation (SVM) voltage source inverter (DTC-SVM) in the rotor circuit. The inverter reference voltage vector is obtained by using input-output feedback linearization control and a DFIM model in the stator a-b axes reference frame with stator currents and rotor fluxes as state variables. Moreover, to make this nonlinear controller stable and robust to most varying electrical parameter uncertainties, a two layer recurrent Artificial Neural Network (ANN) is used to estimate a certain function which shows the machine lumped uncertainty. The overall system stability is proved by the Lyapunov theorem. It is shown that the torque and flux tracking errors as well as the updated weights of the ANN are uniformly ultimately bounded. Finally, effectiveness of the proposed control approach is shown by computer simulation results.
