In order to clarify the difference between the physiological activities of resistant rootstock, Pyrus betulaefolia (P.b) and susceptible one, Pyrus serotina (P.s) in response to physiological disorder, so called "Yubu fruit", this experiment was conducted. Pear trees cv. "Isipseki" used in experiment were grafted on P. betulaefolia and P. serotina, and then they cultivated in pot during 3 years. The results obtained are as follows: (1) The rootstock P.b absorbed more water and cations(Ca??, Mg??, K?) than P.s, and the difference of absorption between two rootstocks was great in early growing season. (2) Concerning to ratio between absorbed cations, Ca??/K? and Ca?//Mg?? were high in P.b, but Mg/K did not shown these tendency. (3) Superior absorbing power in P.b rootstock was revealed greatly in volcanic ash than sand soil. (4) According to soil dryness, absorption of water and cations was decreased significantly regardless of rootstocks. (5) As compared with xylem of roots in both rootstocks, the hole size of vessels was larger in P.b than P.s.

In order to study the effect of gibberellin (GA4×7 ) with or without benzyladenine (BA) treatments on the fruit development of apple (Malus domestica B.) and pear (Pyrus serotina R.), this experiment was carried out. 6-years old, grafted on M26 rootstock, 'Orei', 'Fuji', 'Starkimson' and 'Jonathan' cultivars in apple, and 15-years old 'Changsiprang' and 'Mansamgil' cultivars in pear were used for this experiment. Lanolin paste of GA4×7 and BA was applied to the fruit stalks on May 21 and 31 in apples, May 26 in pears. Rapid fruit development occured 10 days after the treatment regardless of the varieties in apple. No difference in fruit diameter and weight was observed between the GA4×7 1500ppm with and without BA 600ppm treatment. 3000ppm of GA4×7 treatment was the most effective in 'Orei' and 'Fuji' cultivars, but no difference between 150ppm and 3000ppm in 'Starkrimson' cultivar. Although the initial development in fruits treated with GA4×7 was very rapid, the difference of fruit size at harvest was not great compared with at the early stage of fruit development.

High amounts of fertilizer commonly has been applied to the main apple orchard districts in Korea, however, post harvest urea leaf spray has been recommended also in these districts. Author investigated the effects of post harvest urea leaf spray on the apple trees under high nitrogen level. The experiments were carried out using Jonathan Variety in Suwon 1967 and Taegu 1968, were are located middle and southern part of Korea, respectively. The results obtained were summarized as follows. 1) Total N content in the leaves, spur buds in that late fall and in leaves in the next spring, which has been sprayed with 0.5% and 4% urea after havest, was increased. 2) The nitrogen was translocated from leaves to spur buds in 4 days after urea leaf spray and the higher concentration of urea sprayed, the more nitrogen contained in the spur buds 3) Post harvest urea soil application did not increase nitrogen content in the spur buds in that fall and cluster leaves in the next spring. 4) Increment of nitrogen in the leaves, spur buds and cluster leaves as a result of post harvest urea leaf spray did not respond with the flowering, fruit set, shoot growth, fruit development and electroconductivity in the apple trees under high nitrogen level.

The effects of temperature on the photosynthetic speed of apple trees(Malus domestica B.) were determined by using one year old golden Delicious apple trees planted in pot in a temperature range, 10 to 35℃. Optimum temperature for net photosynthesis was 15℃ in July and September bu 10℃ in October and November. Under 20,000 to 30,000 Lux light condition in growth cabinet, the maximum speed of apparent photo synthesis was 12.1mgCO?/dm?/hr at 15℃ in July, but 5.69mgCO?/dm?/hr at 10℃ in November. the speed of true photosynthesis change slightly by temperature condition. the increasing rate of respiration, as the temperature increased, was higher in September and October than in July. The speed of apparent photosynthesis per leaf was high in September and October, but it was decreased significantly in November. This phenomenon means that the speed of photosynthesis decrease rapidly in leaf senescence stage.

Human Dura mater treated by various processes was used to restore small periodontal defects, large bony defects for improvement of new bone formation, and soft tissue defects and replace the disc of TMJ, etc.. Tutoplast Dura is the solvent-preserved Human Dura mater and sterilized by gamma radiation. In our department, Tutoplast Dura was implanted in 32 patients, from 1994, 6 to 1995, 7. We implanted the Tutoplast Dura at 11 various cysts, 6 implantations, 4 fractures, 3 clefts, 2 TMJ disease, 2 maxillary sinusitis, etc.. We performed the retrospective study about the purpose of Tutoplast Dura implantation, postoperative complication and histologic examination of biopsy specimen at implant second surgery.
