      • Wearable Activity Detector Using Environmental Sensors : Design Report

J.P. OUDET,P. MABILLEAU 한국과학기술원 인간친화 복지 로봇 시스템 연구센터 2007 International Journal of Assistive Robotics and Me Vol.8 No.2

The house of tomorrow has to use a plethora of sensors, which are used to interact with people while remaining as non-intrusive as possible. That is why the use of a video camera could be debatable and is most of the time avoided. From this state of fact, and because sensors are undoubtedly necessary, a new form of smart environment is needed. This smart environment has to provide to the global intelligence (i.e. “the Smart Engine”) some necessary data to achieve the main goal of the DOMUS Laboratory at the University of Sherbrooke: helping cognitively impaired people who are still living at home. This paper is aimed to provide an overview of one new technology used by the laboratory to detect activities of inhabitants of Smart Homes with an array of intelligent wearable sensors (Worn Smart Network) and symbiosis with the overall detectability, and its use to interact with more precision with the user of a Smart Home.
