Purpose: This study was performed to compare the real-time electromyographic (EMG) changes and the rate of recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) injury in craniocaudal and lateral approaches for RLN during thyroidectomy. Methods: One hundred twelve and 86 patients were prospectively randomized to receive lateral (group 1) or craniocaudal (group 2) approach to RLN, respectively, under continuous intraoperative nerve monitoring. Results: Loss of signal (LOS) occurred in 7 (2.0%) of 356 nerves at risk (NAR). LOS was significantly associated with repeated adverse EMG changes and presence of RLN entrapment at the ligament of Berry (LOB), which was accompanied by other clinicopathological or anatomical features, such as tubercle of Zuckerkandl (TZ), extralaryngeal branching, hyperthyroidism, autoimmune thyroid disease (ATD), or thyroid lobe volume of >29 cm3 (P = 0.001 and P = 0.030, respectively). The rate of repeated adverse EMG changes and LOS in the NARs with LOB entrapment accompanied by other clinicopathological and anatomical features was higher in group 1 vs. group 2 (11.1% vs. 2.2%, respectively and 9.7% vs. 0%, respectively; P = 0.070). The total rate of vocal cord palsy (VCP) was significantly higher in group 1 than in group 2 (P = 0.005). The rate of permanent VCP showed no significant difference between the 2 groups. Conclusion: The craniocaudal approach to the RLN is safer than the lateral approach in the RLNs with entrapment at the LOB accompanied by other features, such as TZ, extralaryngeal branching, hyperthyroidism, ATD, or high thyroid lobe volume.
LAZHAR TYPE INEQUALITIES FOR p-CONVEX FUNCTIONS
Imdat Iscan,Tekin Toplu,Selahattin Maden 호남수학회 2022 호남수학학술지 Vol.44 No.3
The aim of this study is to establish some new Jensen and Lazhar type inequalities for p-convex function that is a generalization of convex and harmonic convex functions. The results obtained here are reduced to the results obtained earlier in the literature for convex andharmonic convex functions in special cases.
HYPERBOLIC TYPE CONVEXITY AND SOME NEW INEQUALITIES
Toplu, Tekin,Iscan, Imdat,Kadakal, Mahir The Honam Mathematical Society 2020 호남수학학술지 Vol.42 No.2
In this paper, we introduce and study the concept of hyperbolic type convexity functions and their some algebraic properties. We obtain Hermite-Hadamard type inequalities for this class of functions. In addition, we obtain some refinements of the Hermite-Hadamard inequality for functions whose first derivative in absolute value, raised to a certain power which is greater than one, respectively at least one, is hyperbolic convexity. Moreover, we compare the results obtained with both Hölder, Hölder-İşcan inequalities and power-mean, improved-power-mean integral inequalities.

A USW based diagnostic procedure is presented for estimating the depth of surface-breaking cracks. The diagnosis is demonstrated on seven lab-scale SFRC beam specimens, which are subjected to the CMOD controlled three-point bending test to create real bending cracks. Then, the recorded multiple ultrasonic signals are examined with the signal processing techniques, including wavelet transform and two-dimensional Fourier transform, to investigate the relationships between the crack depth and two diagnostic indices, namely the attenuation coefficient and dispersion index (DI). Finally, the reliabilities of these indices for depth estimation are verified with the visually measured crack depths as well as the crack features obtained with a digital image processing algorithm. It is found that the DI outperforms the attenuation coefficient in depth estimation, where this index displays good agreement with the visual inspection for 86% of the inspected specimens.

In this paper, we first introduce the concept ’m-HH convex functions’ and establish some fractional integral inequalities of Hermite-Hadamard type for m-HH convex functions. As applications, we get some Hermite-Hadamard integral inequalities for m-HH convex and harmonically convex function. In addition, some applications to special means of real numbers are given.
Predictors of Health Behaviors in Turkish Female Nursing Students
Belgüzar Kara,Bahar Iscan 한국간호과학회 2016 Asian Nursing Research Vol.10 No.1
Purpose: This study was conducted to determine the health behaviors of Turkish female baccalaureate nursing students and to examine the impact of sociodemographic and health-related factors and their mothers' health behaviors on the health behaviors of nursing students. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 337 nursing students and 337 mothers. Data were collected using self-administered questionnaires that included a personal information form, the Perception of Health Scale and the Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile-II (HPLP-II). Descriptive statistics, one-way analysis of variance, Student's t test, Pearson's correlation coefficients and linear regression analysis were used for data analysis. Results: The total HPLP-II mean score of the students was 131.98 ± 17.15 (item M= 2.61, SD = 0.33). Among the subscales of the HPLP-II, the spiritual growth had the highest mean subscale score, followed by the interpersonal relations subscale, while the physical activity had the lowest mean subscale score. Significant predictors of health behaviors of the students were school year (unstandardized b = .09, p = .012), total score for the Perception of Health Scale (unstandardized b = .02, p < .001), and the mothers' total HPLP-II score (unstandardized b = .33, p < .001), after controlling for specific variables. Conclusions: This study demonstrated that the students who were attending the first-year program, those with higher levels of perceptions of health and those whose mothers had better health behaviors were more likely to have better health behaviors. The results of this study emphasize the importance of making culturally appropriate interventions by taking into account the factors contributing to the health behaviors of nursing students.

The in vitro antioxidant properties of some flavone-6(4)-carboxaldehyde oxime ether deriva-tives (Ia-f, lIa-f) were determined by their effects on the rat liver microsomal NADPH-dependent lipid peroxidation (LP) levels by measuring the formation of 2-thiobarbituric acid reactive substances. The free radical scavenging properties of the compounds were also examined in vitro by determining their capacity to scavenge superoxide anions and interact with the stable free radical 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). The most active compounds, lib (Flavone-4'-carboxaldehyde-O-ethyl oxime) and Id (Flavone-6-carboxaldehyde-O-[2-(1-pyrolidino) ethyl] oxime), caused 98 and 79% inhibition of superoxide anion production and DPPH stable free radical at $10^{-3}{\;}M$, respectively.
