      • Complete chloroplast genomes of two Miscanthus species

        The complete chloroplast (cp) genomes of two Miscanthus species, M. sinensis and M. sacchariflorus, were sequenced and investigated for genes, genome size variation, and polymorphisms. There are 154 genes in both cp genomes, consisting of 122 coding genes, 40 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes. The cp genome contains two inverted repeat (IR) regions, separated by large single copy (LSC) region and small single copy (SSC) region. 112bp indels in M. sinensis and 152bp in M. sacchariflorus were found mainly in LSC and SSC, which are responsible for 40 bp-difference in cp genome size in two species. Likewise, out of 94bp of SNPs, 88bp were found in LSC and SSC regions. Although gene number and sequence structure were quite well conserved, indel distribution and size were different in these two Miscanthus species.

        거꾸로 하는 문제중심 학습(FPBL) 수업에서 나타난 학생들의 인식론적 프레이밍 분석 - 고등학교 생명과학 동아리 적용 사례를 중심으로 -

        The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of the discourses through epistemological framing and the factors influencing the epistemological framing of high school students involved in FPBL(Flipped and Problem-Based Learning) classes on cancer. FPBL classes in twelve steps were conducted for three weeks with 16 students of a life-science club in a general high school. To collect data from four groups of four students, group activities were recorded as well as the whole-class activities. During the classes, the data from all discourses and activities were collected, and interviews and self-evaluation reports were performed. All the discourses and interviews were transcribed and coded. The analysis showed that discourses regarding ‘finding the right answers’, ‘using only the information given by the teacher’, ‘accumulating information without criticism’, ‘filling in the worksheets without discussion’, ‘producing output to satisfy the teacher’, and ‘being not confident in learning’ were found when classroom-game framing was formed. When making-sense-of-phenomena framing was established, discourses featuring ‘there are no fixed answers’, ‘using one's background knowledge and asking questions with curiosity’, ‘critical search for information and organization of it’, ‘active discussion’, ‘reaching a rational solution’, and ‘expressing self-confidence in learning’ appeared. The factors that affected classroom-game framing were misconceiving unstructuredness of FPBL, misunderstanding the finding-facts step, positioning framing of indicator-receiver, and having the burden to produce output. The factors that affected the formation of making-sense-of-phenomena framing were students’ internalization of problems, the teacher’s feedback, characteristics of the problem-solving step, and positional framing of facilitator-constructor. These results can be useful resources for teachers who want to apply FPBL lessons to their classes to promote learner's epistemological framing.

      • 도시공원 접근성 진단지표 개발 및 실증 적용 연구 : 충남 시군지역을 대상으로

        도시공원은 도시민들이 삶을 영위하는 과정에서 다양한 편익과 순기능을 제공하는 필수 공공시설이다. 따라서, 도시민들 누구나 공원 시설에 편리하게 접근하여 편익을 누릴 권리가 있다. 그러나 시설의 입지가 가지는 물리적 한계로 인하여 현실적으로 생활 공간 내 모든 사람에게 같은 수준의 공원 서비스를 제공하기란 어렵다. 그렇더라도 공원이 가지는 공공재 특성을 고려하면 공공은 접근성에 있어서 지리적 편차를 최소화하기 위한 노력을 당위적으로 추구해야 한다. 이 과정에서 한정된 공공자원의 분배가 필요한데, 접근성이 떨어지는 지역을 객관적으로 파악하여 자원분배의 우선순위를 파악할 필요가 있다. 이를 위해서는 공원 접근성의 수준을 객관적으로 진단할 수 있는 정량적 공간지표가 필요하다. 이 연구에서는 도시공원 접근성을 진단하기 위한 접근성 진단지표를 제시하고 실증적 활용성을 살펴보고자 한다. 접근성 지표를 충청남도 시군지역에 적용하여 시군 단위의 실증적 공원 접근성 진단 결과를 도출하고 정책적 함의를 제시한다. Urban parks are essential public facilities in daily living spaces as they provide a variety of benefits and positive functions in people’s daily lives. Therefore, everyone has the right to enjoy the benefits that urban parks provide. However, it is not a trivial task to provide an equal level of urban park services at all places due to the physical constraints encountered in locating facilities. Nevertheless, it is critical to make public efforts to minimize the geographic variations or deviations in the accessibility recalling that urban parks are a kind of public goods. In these efforts, the limited public resources need to be distributed based on equality criteria to better serve localities diagnosed to be suffering from poor accessibility. To this end, quantitative spatial indicators need to be devised to objectively diagnose the level of urban park accessibility. The objective of this study is to define a diagnostic measure of urban park accessibility and to examine the empirical utilization. The measure is applied to cities and counties in Chungcheongnam-do Province and, based on the empirical results, some policy implications are discussed.

      • Devising a Local Spatial Statistic to Explore Spatial Inequity in the Provision of Urban Facility Service

        This study aims at devising a local spatial measure that is capable of exploring the disproportionate spatial distribution of urban service facility supply (observed provision) to that of population demand (expected need). Expected need is denoted by the proportion of subpopulation in a subregion to the regional total and observed provision corresponds to the ratio of the quantity of urban facility services in the same subregion to the total quantity in the entire study area. Spatial inequity in access to urban facility is portrayed by the spatial disparity between supply and demand for urban amenity, and this spatial inaccessibility is explored in the framework of spatial process. For this purpose, a local spatial statistic is formulated to quantify the spatial mismatch by revising a generic two-sample test for proportions of which statistical basis is on Bernoulli model. The revision is made by incorporating spatial weight matrix into the aspatial test so that the spatial flow of demand to supply among subregions can be explicitly accounted for. The local quantity portrays the landscape of spatial mismatch of the distributions of population demand to urban facility provision, highlighting a variety of images of local access to urban facilities. For the empirical illustration, the local quantity is applied to the distributions of day care facilities and underlying target population (children under age 5) in Erie County, NY.

      • Geographical measurement of grocery shopping opportunity in Erie County : Application of probabilistic gravity model

        This paper is to identify underserved areas by grocery stores including super markets in Erie County and help to choose the right location for potential site for expansion. Underserved areas refers to as food deserts where access to retailers selling fresh groceries in cheaper prices are seriously limited. Huff model (probabilistic gravity model) is applied to located those food deserts. The analysis results may benefit retailers in decision making by providing geographical spectrum for market expansion strategy. In planning process, it helps planners to identify the underserved areas by grocery retail stores and to improve the limited accessibility in food deserts.

        아산시 국지적 난개발 발생 가능지역 탐색 방안 실증연구

        Unplanned land use, that is, unplanned development, causes various negative externalities. In the past, Korea has experienced significant socio-economic costs due to reckless development centered on the boundary between urban and non-urban areas.. Unplanned land use can be viewed as a result of the interaction of various factors.. Therefore, it is difficult to develop in areas where unplanned land use occurs intensively. It is necessary to strengthen legal and institutional measures so that negative externalities do not persis. In this study, we present a spatial analysis methodology to effectively find spatial clusters where unplanned land use is concentrated. By demonstrating and applying this to individual development activities that occurred in Asan City, we examine the usefulness of information to support decision making when establishing mid-to-long-term growth management strategies at the local government level.

        상업적 토지이용 패턴의 시공간 변화 탐색을 위한 공간통계 기법 적용 연구

        많은 지리적 현상은 시간 변화에 따라 동적인 공간 패턴을 보이며, 이러한 동적인 공간 패턴을 탐색하기 위한 연구들이 수행되어왔다. 그러나 기존의 많은 연구는 시간의 흐름에 따른 공간 패턴의 변화를 연속 또는 누적 측면에서 다루기 보다는 특정 시점이나 기간 동안의 정적인 공간 패턴 분석에 초점을 두고 있다. 따라서 시간 변화 과정에서 수반되는 공간 프로세스의 관성(inertia)을 효과적으로 파악할 필요가 있다. 이러한 측면을 고려하여, 본 연구의 목적은 지리현상의 공간패턴을 탐색하는 새로운 공간통계 탐색방법을 제안하고, 이를 사례연구에 적용하는데 있다. 즉, 새로운 공간통계량을 제안하고, 몬테카를로 시뮬레이션(Monte Carlo Simulation)을 통해 새로운 통계량의 z-값을 산출한 뒤, 시간 변화에 따른 공간 패턴의 변화를 누적 방식으로 탐색하는 방법을 소개하고자 한다. 이를 위해 공간 패턴을 측정하는 J 통계량과 CUSUM 통계량이 결합된 방법을 제안하고, 사례연구로 최근 200년 동안 미국 뉴욕 주의 이리 카운티(Erie County)의 상업적 토지이용의 공간 패턴 변화를 살펴 보았다. 이러한 시공간 패턴 변화 탐색 방법을 통하여 새로 구성된 공간통계량을 단위시간마다 누적적으로 반영하여 공간패턴의 연속적인 변화추이의 효과적인 탐색이 가능하였다. Lots of geographic phenomena have dynamic spatial patterns with time changes, and there have been lots of researches on exploring these dynamic spatial patterns. However, most of these researches focused on the static pattern analysis in a given period, rather than dealing with dynamic changes in the spatial pattern over time with the continual or cumulative perspective. For this reason, investigation of the inertia of spatial process in terms of temporal changes is needed. From this background, the purpose of this paper is to propose the methodology to explore the changes in spatial pattern cumulatively by considering the inertia of the spatial statistics over time, and to apply it to the case study. That is, we introduce the new spatial statistic, and produce the z-values of the statistic using Monte Carlo Simulation, and then to explore the changes in spatial patterns over time cumulatively. To do this, the method to combine the J statistic with CUSUM statistic for exploring spatial patterns, and to apply it to the changes in the commercial landuse in Erie County, New York State. Through the proposed method for spatio-temporal patterns, we could explore continual changes effectively in the spatial patterns reflecting the statistics by temporal spot cumulatively.
