This experiment was conducted to evaluate the synergistic effects of vitamin C and E on methylmercury (MeHg) toxicity in juvenile olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus. In a 3×3 factorial design, 9 experimental diets containing three different vitamin C (0, 200 or 400 mg/kg diet in the form of l-ascorbyl-2-monophosphate) and vitamin E (0, 100 or 200 mg/kg diet in the form of dl-α-tocopheryl acetate) levels with the Hg toxicity level (20 mg/kg diet in the form of MeHg). Triplicate groups of fish averaging 2.3 ± 0.05 g (mean ± SD) were fed one of the 9 diets in a flow through system for 8 weeks. Fish fed 400 mg vitamin C/kg diet with 100 or 200 mg vitamin E/kg diet showed significantly (P < 0.05) higher weight gain (WG) than did fish fed the other diets. Fish fed 400 mg vitamin C/kg diet at all vitamin E levels and those which fed vitamin C and E equally at a rate of 200 mg/kg diet showed significantly (P < 0.05) higher feed efficiency (FE), specific growth rate (SGR) and protein efficiency ratio (PER) than did fish fed the other diets. Fish fed 200 and 400 mg vitamin C/kg diet exhibited significantly (P < 0.05) lower Hg concentration in their muscle as well as kidney than did fish fed the other diets. Therefore, these results clearly indicated that the synergistic effects of these two vitamins on MeHg toxicity by supplementing dietary vitamin C (200 and 400 mg/kg diet) with vitamin E (100 and 200 mg/kg diet) in juvenile olive flounder.
Design of a High-Efficiency and High-Power Inverted Doherty Amplifier

<P>In this paper, we present a design method for a compact inverted Doherty power amplifier (IDPA), which has high-efficiency and high-power characteristics. An optimum load matching network and an additional offset line, after the matching network of the carrier amplifier, dynamically modulate the load impedance according to the input power drive, while the conventional Doherty power amplifier uses a quarter-wave line to do it. The operational principles and design guide are provided. For experimental verification, a 50-W Doherty amplifier was designed for the pi/4 differential quadrature phase-shift keying application at the 860-MHz band. The measured performance of the IDPA was compared with that of the balanced class-AB amplifier with the same output matching network. At an output power of 50 W, the IDPA performs with 3.16 dB better adjacent channel power ratio (-28 versus -24.84 dBc) and 6.15% higher power-added efficiency (59.02 versus 52.87%) than the class-AB amplifier does.</P>

Effects of two different organic acid blands in olive flounder

This expe끼ment was conducted to evaluate the effect of two different organic acid products as antibiotic replacement in olive flounder paralichthys olivaceus . Fish averaging 3.5 ::!:: 0.05 g(mean ::!:: SD) were fed one of the ten semi-purified diets : Diet 1 ; Control , Diet 2 ; add antibiotics - 50mg OTC / kg body weight / day(OTC), Diet 3; Add organic acid bland A(OABA) - 4g/kg diet, Diet 4 ; add organic acid bland B(OABB) - 4g/kg diet for 10 weeks. Total gut microflora counts were significantly higher in the control group compared to the OTC and organic acid groups(P <0.05). Fish fed OABA, 。ABB and OTC had lower gut Vibrio counts compared to the control, but were not significantly different. Results from the challenge study indicate that mortality in the different treatment groups (50%) was significantly lower than those observed for the control group (100%). There were no differences in mortality between the OTC and organic acid groups. Overall findings from this study indicate that the organic acid blends A and B were as effective as oxytetracycline, an antibiotic, in regulating total gut bacterial numbers, Vibrio counts and providing protection against a pathogen such as Edwardsiella tarda.
A 60-W Multicarrier WCDMA Power Amplifier Using an RF Predistorter

<P>In this brief, we present a 60-W power amplifier that is linearized using an RF predistorter for multicarrier wideband code-division multiple-access (WCDMA) applications. The proposed RF predistorter is fully composed of RF or analog circuits, and it has a moderate memory effect compensation capability using a delayed third-order intermodulation (IM3) component path. It also includes the IM5 generation circuits and a compact IM3 generator that is capable of autocanceling for the fundamental component. The proposed RF predistorter was implemented and applied to a 60-W high-power WCDMA amplifier. For a four-carrier downlink WCDMA signal, the RF predistorter improved the adjacent channel leakage power ratio at a 5-MHz offset by 6.19 dB at an average output power of 48 dBm. The total efficiency of the system is as high as 13.6% at the same output power level. At an output power level of 60 W, the linearized power amplifier complies with the linearity specification of the WCDMA system.</P>
