Electronic Charting systems (ECS) in yachting and boating are the non-professional counterparts to ECDIS in commercial shipping. In the absence of legal regulations on design and use, a wide variety of products have de-veloped. Their usability is not only safety critical but often even determines whether navigation functions like route building or track recording are used at all. With two empirical studies employing standard usability meth-ods from human factors research, we assessed the usability of a variety of current ECSs on a sailing yacht. In study 1, nine usability experts conducted multimethod analyses while sailing in typical cruising areas on sea. Building on the results, a standardized user test was designed and carried out with 12 prototypical users plus 3 usability experts in inland waters (study 2). Finally, a set of 38 design and usability guidelines were formulated. The guidelines may not only help boat owners and charter companies in selecting a current market product but also aid manufacturers in designing their future products. Contributions: David Jung (study 1) and Martin Müller (study 2) conducted the studies and formulated the guide-lines. Gisela Müller-Plath designed and managed the research project ANeMoS (Analysing Use and Impact of NewMedia on Sailboats) which the present work is part of, commanded the sailing yacht, and wrote the paper.

Breast tissue markers are common in current clinical practice and are susceptible to migration. Herein, we present the case of a 47-year-old woman with invasive breast carcinoma diagnosed through ultrasound-guided core biopsy, who underwent placement of a breast marker (HydroMARK®) under ultrasound guidance 30 days after core biopsy and with subsequent marker migration to the nipple. The correct position of the marker was documented by mammography after its placement and by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Migration of the marker to the nipple was evident only by mammography on the day of surgery. We hypothesized that an intraductal path was the route of marker migration in this patient. Marked ductal ectasia evident on MRI and histopathologic examination supported this hypothesis. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first published case of intraductal migration of a breast tissue marker.
Aptitude-Treatment Interaction in L2 Learning: A Research Synthesis
( Gisela Granena ),( Yucel Yilmaz ) 글로벌영어교육학회(구 호남영어교육학회) 2018 Studies in English education Vol.23 No.4
Aptitude treatment interaction research relies on learner characteristics to adapt instructional methods in systematic and productive ways. In the field of second language acquisition, there is agreement that individual differences affect attainment in various ways and many instructed second language acquisition studies have included an individual difference. However, the primary focus has usually been on the instructional treatment itself rather than on any interactions between the effectiveness of the treatment and the individual difference factor. In other words, the effect of individual differences has been examined post hoc, instead of proposing treatments that will enhance learning for a subset of learners with a particular characteristic identified a priori, before treatment is delivered. This article reviews instructed second language acquisition studies that included a cognitive individual difference and an aptitude-treatment-interaction component. Our objective was to examine the extent to which cognitive abilities in the domain of explicit cognitive processes were related to outcomes under explicit instructed conditions, while cognitive abilities in the domain of implicit cognitive processes were related to outcomes under implicit instructed conditions. The results of this research synthesis showed that when learning takes place under explicit instructed conditions, the relationship with explicit cognitive abilities is positive and moderate, whereas the relationship with implicit cognitive abilities is negative and weak. When learning takes place under implicit instructed conditions, the relationship with both implicit and explicit cognitive abilities is negative and moderately weak.
Increased Expression of P2RY2, CD248 and EphB1 in Gastric Cancers from Chilean Patients
Aquea, Gisela,Bresky, Gustavo,Lancellotti, Domingo,Madariaga, Juan Andres,Zaffiri, Vittorio,Urzua, Ulises,Haberle, Sergio,Bernal, Giuliano Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.5
Background: Gastric cancer (GC) ranks as one of the major causes of mortality due to cancer worldwide. In Chile, it is currently the leading cause of cancer death. Identification of novel molecular markers that may help to improve disease diagnosis at early stages is imperative. Materials and Methods: Using whole-genome DNA microarrays we determined differential mRNA levels in fresh human GC samples compared to adjacent healthy mucosa from the same patients. Genes significantly overexpressed in GC were validated by RT-PCR in a group of 14 GC cases. Results: The genes CD248, NSD1, RAB17, ABCG8, Ephb1 and P2RY2 were detected as the top overexpressed in GC biopsies. P2RY2, Ephb1 and CD248 showed the best sensitivity for GC detection with values of 92.9%, 85.7% and 64.3% (p<0.05), respectively. Specificity was 85.7%, 71.4% and 71.4% (p<0.05), for each respectively.

A systematic study of the magnetization reversal behavior in the regular arrangement of L10-FePt based exchange- spring nanomagnets with different thicknesses of the Co soft magnetic layer is presented. The magnetic property of the hard magnet is compared to two tuned exchange-spring magnets: its systems of 20 nm L10-FePt/ 3 nm, and 7 nm Co. In particular, we focus on the switching field distribution. The exchange coupling showed narrower SFD, in spite of the decoupled part switches earlier. The magnetization switching mechanism of exchange- spring nanomagnets patterns has been revealed with a first-order reversal curves technique and the switching field distribution. Further, the microscopic results using magnetic force microscopy show that the spin rotation of the non-interacting part in the thicker soft layered exchange-spring magnet. The part influences the magnetization reversal process. According to the experimental results, exchange coupling strength can be tuned by the thickness of the soft magnetic layer.
Vibration control of hysteretic base-isolated structures: an LMI approach
Francesc Pozo,Gisela Pujol,Leonardo Acho 국제구조공학회 2016 Smart Structures and Systems, An International Jou Vol.17 No.2
Seismic isolation systems are essentially designed to preserve structural safety, prevent occupants injury and properties damage. An active saturated LMI-based control design is proposed to attenuate seismic disturbances in base-isolated structures under saturation actuators. Using a mathematical model of an eight-storied building structure, an active control algorithm is designed. Performance evaluation of the controller is carried out in a simplified model version of a benchmark building system, which is recognized as a state-of-the-art model for numerical experiments of structures under seismic perturbations. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is robust with respect to model and seismic perturbations. Finally, the performance indices show that the proposed controller behaves satisfactorily and with a reasonable control effort.
