N,N,N',N'-Tetrabromobenzene-1,3-disulfonamide (TBBDA)/$PPh_3$ and N,N,N',N'-tetrachlorobenzene-1,3-disulfonamide (TCBDA)/$PPh_3$ are two highly reactive reagent systems for the conversion of alcohols corresponding into alkyl chlorides and bromides in moderate to excellent yields in dichloromethane at room temperature under mild and neutral conditions.

A new and facile protocol for the synthesis of dithiocarabamate in EtOH/$H_2O$ is described. Reaction of aromatic and aliphatic amines with $CS_2$ and 3,4-dihydro-2H-pyran in the presence of N,N,N',N'-tetrabromobenzene-1,3-disulfonamide [TBBDA] and poly(N-bromo-N-ethylbenzene-1,3-disulfonamide) [PBBS] gives the corresponding dithiocarbamates in good to high yields.

<P>The flux pinning mechanisms of nano-Si-doped MgB<SUB>2</SUB> are reported in this work. The field dependence of the critical current density, <I>J</I><SUB>c</SUB>(<I>B</I>), was analyzed within the collective pinning model. We found that the mechanisms for both δ<I>l</I> pinning, i.e., pinning associated with charge-carrier mean free path fluctuations, and δ<I>T</I><SUB>c</SUB> pinning, which is associated with spatial fluctuations of the transition temperature, coexist in the nano-Si-doped MgB<SUB>2</SUB> samples, while <I>H</I><SUB>c2</SUB> increases greatly with increasing nano-Si doping level. However, their contributions are strongly temperature dependent. The δ<I>l</I> pinning is dominant at low temperatures, decreases with increasing temperature, and is suppressed completely at temperatures close to the critical temperature, <I>T</I><SUB>c</SUB>. However, the δ<I>T</I><SUB>c</SUB> pinning mechanism shows opposite trends. </P>
Comparing Impact of STATCOM and SSSC on the Performance of Digital Distance Relay

In this paper the impact of a SSSC and a STATCOM on the impedance calculated by a distance relay is investigated. Both analytical analysis and simulations are provided. The STATCOM/SSSC control systems are modeled in detail. It is demonstrated that a SSSC has a greater impact on the calculated impedance by an A-G distance relay element. Several scenarios are considered in the simulations like the impact of the fault conditions, the compensator settings, the power system conditions and so on. All the simulations are carried out in MATLAB/Simulink with detailed models of the SSSC and the STATCOM.
