This study was conducted to investigate the effect of dietary supplementation levels of spinach powder and extract on performance, egg quality and lutein content in egg yolk. Laying hens were subjected to one of the following treatments; C, basal diet (BD); T1, BD + 1 ppm lutein from spinach powder; T2, BD + 1 ppm lutein powder from spinach extract; T3, BD + 2 ppm lutein powder from spinach extract; T4, BD + 2 ppm lutein from spinach extract. As a result, performance of laying hens was no significant difference among treatments. T4 had a significantly (p<0.05) higher egg yolk color than the other treatments. As from the lutein content in egg yolk, T4 had a significantly (p<0.05) higher content than the other treatments. Finally, these results suggested that the dietary supplementation for lutein-rich egg production, lutein concentration must be higher than a minimum of 2 ppm. Also, dietary with lutein extract from raw materials was appropriate for lutein-rich egg production than dietary with raw materials.

Disaster response operations are critical for decreasing the devastating impacts that result in casualties and property damages. Since these operations require cooperation in dynamic and complex situations, the responding organizations require a solid organizational structure collectively. This article introduces computational designs and evaluations of alternative organizational structures for disaster responses to resolve the disconnections between resource demands and supplies. In particular, this research consists of (1) organizational structure designs with two optimization techniques, (2) agent-based simulations that virtually replicate disaster response contexts, and (3) social network analysis to interpret the relations between the structures and the performances from the network perspectives. We applied this approach to log records of Hurricane Katrina, and our evaluations suggest that alternative organizations would improve operation outcomes, that is, increase the successful resource delivery counts and reduce a number of organizational conflicts. This computational approach could be further utilized in designing and evaluating organizations under complex and dynamic situations.

The optical and structural properties of nonpolar and semipolar InGaN/GaN quantum wells (QWs) grown on planar sapphire substrates and patterned sapphire substrates (PSSs) were investigated in order to understand the effect of defects on the luminescence. By introducing the PSS technique, surface morphological features were varied in number and size, and the defect density was significantly reduced by the PSS patterns, which resulted in the formation of low-defect regions. The photoluminescence (PL) analyses of nonpolar and semipolar QWs samples revealed that the semipolar (1122) QWs, which had better optical performance and higher In incorporation, are more suitable for application to long-wavelength emitters in the green-red spectral range and beyond. Moreover, particularly in the semipolar QWs, we could observe that the optical properties were enhanced by the decrease in defect density. It was also noted that In incorporation was increased in the high-defect regions and in the regions where arrowhead-like features existed.

This paper reports the improved microstructural and optical properties of semipolar (11-22) InGaN quantum well (QW) structures grown on SiO2 nanorods formed by introducing self-organized masks. The crystal quality of GaN grown on SiO2 nanorods was significantly improved by the defect blocking mechanism. The cathodoluminescence (CL) intensity of regrown GaN on SiO2 nanorods increased approximately 9.5 times in comparison with that of the reference GaN, which is attributed to the defect reduction effect of the nanorods. Semipolar InGaN/GaN double QWs grown on SiO2 nanorod masks showed an approximately 80% increase in internal quantum efficiency (IQE) in relation to that of the reference GaN.
