GUO YATING 경희대학교 대학원 2024 국내석사
A Study on the Impact Factors of FDI Inflows By YATING GUO Master of Science in Business Administration Graduate School of Kyung Hee University Advised by Dr. Hwa-Sung Kim As the world's economic environment continues to evolve, research has examined factors that influence Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), which has remained a focus of attention for countries and a common concern among global multinational corporations. FDI brings the inflows of capital, offers employment opportunities, introduces technology, and facilitates the transfer of management expertise, thereby stimulating economic growth and development. To study the differences between countries in their ability to attract FDI, we integrate and filtering panel data from 168 countries or regions between 2010 and 2020 and pay special attention to the important position of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in foreign investment inflows. We examine FDI inflows from four perspectives: market variables, labor factors, economic factors, and policy factors, and propose relevant hypotheses. Empirical results suggest that per capita GDP, labor factors, economic freedom, and policy friendliness all have positive and significant impacts on FDI and higher levels of economic freedom will promote the positive relationship between policy friendliness and FDI inflows. In additional test, we reveal that FDI inflows are influenced by previous FDI levels. Moreover, even though we change the measurement of FDI and the measurement of labor force, we obtain the same conclusion. Key words Foreign direct investment, Policy-friendliness, Economic freedom
