Risk Factors and Nutritional Profiles Associated with Stunting in Children

Purpose: To analyze risk factors and various nutrients associated with stunting among children aged 6-60 months. Methods: This is a case-control and cross-sectional study between 40 stunting cases and 40 controls. Data on possible risk factors associated with stunting were obtained through direct interviews and using a questionnaire. Examination of vitamin D, zinc, albumin, and ferritin levels was performed on both groups. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, Version 23.0 (IBM Co., Armonk, NY, USA) to determine risk factors for stunting and to assess the relationship between nutritional levels and stunting. Results: The incidence of stunting was highest in children aged 12-36 months. Children with low weight and very low weight for age comprised of 55% and 22.5%, respectively, of the study participants. The highest mother's educational level was junior high school (40%). History of low birth weight (LBW) was more commonly observed in the stunting group than that in the control group (25.0% and 7.5%, respectively; p=0.034, odds ratio, 0.310 [95% confidence interval, 0.122-0.789]). Approximately 7.5% of cases had premature birth. Exclusive breast feeding was found to be not correlated with stunting. The mean zinc level in the stunting group was 34.17 ng/mL, which was different from that in the control group (50.83 ng/mL) (p=0.023). Blood ferritin, vitamin D, albumin, and calcium levels were not strongly correlated with stunting. Conclusion: LBW is the main risk factor contributing to stunting and is strongly associated with low zinc level.
PREFORM OPTIMIZATION OF FUNCTIONAL BEVEL GEAR FOR WARM FORGING PROCESSES

Optimizing the design of the preform shapes used in warm forging processes is important for improving quality and reducing cost. The main objective of this study was to optimize the design of a preform shape for a bevel gear to obtain a good product and to improve the efficiency of the warm forging process. Quality parameters included in the fitness function were form-filling, preform volume, and complexity. First, basic principles pertaining to the cross sections, thickness, and concave radius of a bevel gear preform were applied in conjunction with certain theoretical expressions and empirical methods to produce an initial preform shape and initial geometry. Subsequently, mathematical evaluation models of the fitness function were generated to optimize the preform shape. Finally, a genetic algorithm was applied to solve the multi-objective optimization problem, and the best solution was determined considering the accuracy of the results, within the close proximity set generated by the multi-objective genetic algorithm optimization. The optimal preform shape was decreased in weight by approximately 8 % and its flash dimensions were decreased by about 5 % compared to the initial preform shape. This research is expected to improve the efficiency of fabricating bevel gears by means of warm forging processes.

최근의 웹을 기반으로 한 소셜 네트워크 서비스의 발전은 사회관계 형성 서비스를 넘어 광고 마케팅 및 SNS 오픈마켓 등의 상업적 이용으로까지 사용되고 있으며 Facebook Live와 같은 개인방송의 영역까지 확장되고 있다. 인터넷을 통한 온라인상의 사회관계는 노화와 질환으로 외출이 어려운 노년층에게 지역사회 및 친구들과의 의사소통을 가능하게 할 뿐만 아니라 인터넷을 통한 정보 활용으로 생활의 질을 향상시키고, 노후를 즐길 수 있는 방법을 찾는 데 도움을 줄 수 있다고 알려져 있다. 하지만 대부분의 웹서비스는 복잡한 사용자 인터페이스를 제공하고 있으며 익숙하지 않은 기기를 사용하는 것은 노년층에게 쉽지 않기 때문에 노년층은 제한된 콘텐츠만을 제공받게 되어 정보화 사회에서 소외될 가능성이 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 웹 접근성을 향상시킨 소셜 콘텐츠 서비스 Photo Alive! Demo EasyFace를 소개한다. 또한 노년층이 다루기 어려웠던 키보드와 마우스를 벗어나 새로운 조작 기기들로 웹 서비스를 이용할 수 있도록 구현하였다. MINIX Remote Control, Mirroring, EasyFace Control Application 세 가지의 조작기기 작동 방법을 구현하여 노년층에 맞춤화 된 새로운 사용자 인터페이스를 제안하고자 한다.

Seven flavonoid compounds, kaempferol (1), quercetin (2), quercetin-3-O-b-D-glucopyranoside (3), kaempferol-3-O-b-D-glucopyranoside (4), kaempferol-3-O-a-L-rhamnoside (5), quercetin-3-O-sophoroside (6) and quercetin-3-O-rutinoside (7), were isolated from the methanolic extract of leaves of Kalanchoe prolifera. Compounds 1-7 were isolated for first time from this plant. These compounds were evaluated their cytotoxic activity against P-388 murine leukimia cells in vitro. Among those compounds kaempferol (1) and quercetin (2) showed strongest cytotoxic activity with IC50 values of 4.45 ? 0.05 and 6.28 ? 0.02 mg/mL, respectively.
