Pham, Duong Quang,Ba, Duong Thi,Dao, Nga Thu,Choi, Gyung Ja,Vu, Thuy Thu,Kim, Jin-Cheol,Giang, Thi Phuong Ly,Vu, Hoang Dinh,Le Dang, Quang Elsevier 2017 INDUSTRIAL CROPS AND PRODUCTS Vol.108 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The antimicrobial efficacies of extracts and constituents fractionated from <I>Rheum tanguticum</I> rhizomes were evaluated by using <I>in vitro</I> and <I>in vivo</I> bioassay against seven phytopathogenic fungi and ten pathogenic bacteria, respectively. Dichloromethane and ethyl acetate soluble extracts derived from <I>R. tanguticum</I> rhizomes effectively controlled plant diseases caused by five fungi <I>Magnaporthe oryzae</I>, <I>Blumeria graminis</I> f. sp<I>. hordei, Colletotrichum coccodes, Phytophthora infestans,</I> and <I>Puccinia recondita</I> in <I>in vivo</I> whole plant bioassay. In addition, these extracts showed strong inhibitory activity against the bacterial growth of <I>Acidovorax avenae</I> subsp. <I>cattlyae</I> (Aac), <I>Clavibacter michiganensis</I> subsp. <I>michiganensis</I>, <I>Xanthomonas arboricola</I> pv. <I>pruni</I> (Xap), and <I>Pseudomonas syringae</I> pv. <I>actinidiae</I> (Psa), with MIC values ranging from 125 to 250μg/mL. The active extracts of <I>R. tanguticum</I> rhizomes were fractionated by using various and repeated chromatographic techniques to yield seven constituents that included three anthraquinones and four stilbenes. Notably, at concentrations ranging from 75 to 300μg/mL, physcion (<B>DH03</B>) and chrysophanol (<B>DH04</B>) were significantly effective in suppressing the development of barley powdery mildew (BPM) caused by <I>B. graminis</I> f. sp. <I>hordei,</I> with control values from 80 to 96.7%. Moreover, stilbenes rhapontigenin (<B>DH02</B>) and desoxyrhapontigenin (<B>DH05</B>) had a broad spectrum and potent activity against phytopathogenic bacteria; <B>DH05</B> effectively inhibited the bacterial growth of Aac, <I>Burkholderia glumae</I> and Psa at MICs ranging from 38 to 150μg/mL. In this paper, we report their antibacterial activity for the first time. The botanical materials containing anthraquinones and stilbenes were active against both phytopathogenic fungi and bacteria. These results suggested that <I>R. tanguticum</I> rhizomes could be used as a new source of antimicrobial substances for developing a botanical fungicide and bactericide to control plant diseases.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> <I>R. tanguticum</I> extracts exhibited activity against phytopathogenic fungi and bacteria. </LI> <LI> Seven anthraquinones and stilbenes from <I>R. tanguticum</I> were isolated and identified. </LI> <LI> <I>In vivo</I> antifungal activity of botanicals was evaluated by the whole plant bioassay. </LI> <LI> The isolated stilbenes effectively inhibited the growth of phytopathogenic bacteria. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

A Statistical Data-Filtering Method Proposed for Short-Term Load Forecasting Models

        Duong Minh Bui,Phuc Duy Le,Tien Minh Cao,Hung Nguyen,Trang Thi Pham,Duy Anh Pham 대한전기학회 2020 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.15 No.5

Reliability assessment of the SCADA-system based load data is necessary for improving accuracy of short-term load forecasting (STLF) methods in a distribution network (DN). Specifi cally, the reliability evaluation of the load data is to properly eliminate noise/outliers caused by random power consumption behaviors or the sudden change in load demand from industrial and residential customers in the DN. Thus, this paper proposes a novel statistical data-fi ltering method, working at an input data pre-processing stage, which will evaluate the reliability of input load data by analyzing all possible data confi dence levels in order to fi lter-out the noise/outliers for accuracy improvement of diff erent short-term load forecasting models. The proposed statistical data-fi ltering method is also compared to other existing data-fi ltering methods (such as Kalman Filter, Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise (DBSCAN), Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and Singular Spectrum Analysis (SSA)). Moreover, several case studies of short-term load forecasting for a typical 22 kV distribution network in Vietnam are conducted with an Artifi cial Neural Network (ANN) model, a Long Short-Term Memory Recurrent Neural Network (LSTM-RNN) model, a combined model of Long Short-Term Memory Network and Convolutional Neural Network (LSTM-CNN), and a conventional Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) model to validate the statistical data-fi ltering method proposed. The achieved results demonstrate which the STLF using ANN, LSTM-RNN, LSTMCNN, and ARIMA models with the statistical data-fi ltering method can all outperform those with the existing data-fi ltering methods. Additionally, the numerical results also indicate that in case the SCADA-based load data is normally distributed, time-series forecasting models should be more preferred than neural network models; otherwise, when the SCADA-based load data contains multiple normally distributed sub-datasets, neural network-based prediction models are highly recommended.

      • Relationship of the Cold-Heat Sensation of the Limbs and Abdomen with Physiological Biomarkers

Pham, Duong Duc,Lee, JeongHoon,Kim, GaYul,Song, JiYeon,Kim, JiEun,Leem, Chae Hun Hindawi Publishing Corporation 2016 Evidence-based Complementary and Alternative Medic Vol.2016 No.-

<P>The present study explored the relationship between the regional Cold-Heat sensation, the key indicator of the Cold-Heat patterns in traditional East Asian medicine (TEAM), and various biomarkers in Korean population. 734 apparently healthy volunteers aged 20 years and older were enrolled. Three scale self-report questions on the general thermal feel in hands, legs, and abdomen were examined. We found that 65% of women tended to perceive their body, particularly their hands and legs, to be cold, versus 25% of men. Energy expenditure and temperature load at resting state were lower in women, independently of body mass index (BMI). Those with warm hands and warm legs had a 0.74 and 0.52 kg/m2 higher BMI than those with cold hands and cold legs, respectively, regardless of age, gender, and body weight. Norepinephrine was higher, whereas the dynamic changes in glucose and insulin during an oral glucose tolerance test were lower in those with cold extremities, particularly hands. No consistent differences in biomarkers were found for the abdominal dimension. These results suggest that gender, BMI, the sympathetic nervous system, and glucose metabolism are potential determinants of the Cold-Heat sensation in the hands and legs, but not the abdomen.</P>

Enhanced upper critical fields in low energy iron-irradiated single-crystalline MgB2 thin films

        Pham, Duong,Jung, Soon-Gil,Tran, Duc H.,Park, Tuson,Kang, Won Nam The Korea Institute of Applied Superconductivity a 2019 한국초전도저온공학회논문지 Vol.21 No.3

We studied the effect of Fe ion irradiation on the upper critical field ($H_{c2}$) of 410 nm single-crystalline $MgB_2$ thin films. The irradiation energy was fixed at 140 keV when we increased the irradiation doses from $1{\times}10^{14}ion/cm^2$ to $4{\times}10^{14}ion/cm^2$. We found that $H_{c2}$ significantly increase with increasing irradiation dose, despite the low irradiation energy. The enhancement of $H_{c2}$ could be explained by the reduction of electron mean free path caused by defects induced from irradiation, leading to a decrease of coherence length (${\xi}$). We also discussed the effect of irradiation on temperature-dependent resistivity in details.

      • Application of polynomial chaos in PID controller design for interval system

Pham Luu Trung Duong,Moonyong Lee 제어로봇시스템학회 2010 제어로봇시스템학회 국내학술대회 논문집 Vol.2010 No.5

Stability and performance of a system can be inferred from the evolution of statistical characteristic of system states. The polynomial chaos of Wiener provides a framework for the statistical analysis of dynamical systems, with computational cost far superior to Monte Carlo simulations. Hence, in this work, we design robust PID controller for interval system by using Legendre Chaos.

      • Multi-model PID controller design: Polynomial chaos approach

Pham Luu Trung Duong,Moonyong Lee 제어로봇시스템학회 2010 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2010 No.10

The dynamic behavior of many systems can be approximated by a linear model at each operating point. Therefore, if the process works in several operating points, a set of linear models can be constructed to represent the system behavior. Those multi-models can be viewed as a system with random uncertain bounded parameters with definite influence over the behavior of the solution. Stability and performance of a system can be inferred from the evolution of statistical characteristic of system states with random parameters. The polynomial chaos of Wiener provides a framework for the statistical analysis of dynamical systems, with computational cost far superior to Monte Carlo simulations. Hence, in this work, we design robust integer and fractional order PID controller for multi-model systems by using Legendre Chaos.
