Synthesis and iNOS Inhibitory Activities of Thioflavones
Dao Tran Thanh,Tuyen Truong Ngoc,Park Haeil The Pharmaceutical Society of Korea 2005 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.28 No.6
A number of thioflavones has been synthesized and evaluated for their iNOS inhibitory activities. Thiowogonin (6) was obtained from naturally occurring chrysin in 5 steps. Other thioflavones were prepared from the corresponding flavones in a single step by the reaction with Lawesson's reagent. The biological activities of thioflavones were not enhanced by the functional group conversion from carbonyl to thiocarbonyl. Compounds 11 and 13 showed potent. NO inhibitory activity at high concentration (40 uM), leading to the possible development of novel neuroprotective agents based on wogonin.

A number of 8-arylflavones have been synthesized as congeners of wogonin and evaluated for their inhibitory activities of $PGE_2$ production. 8-Arylflavones were obtained from commercially available chrysin via two different synthetic pathways. Most 8-arylflavones exhibited much reduced inhibitory activities against COX-2 catalyzed $PGE_2$ production compared to that of wogonin. Functional group replacement at the 8-position of wogonin from methoxy to aryl group caused loss of inhibitory activity. Our present results imply that the functional group at the 8-position of flavones seems to play very important roles for bioactivity.

5,7-Dihydroxyflavones and their Ο-methylated flavone analogs were prepared and evaluated their anti-inflammatory activity to decipher the structure-activity relationships. Most of the analogs were achieved from 2,4,6-trihydroxyacetophenone in 4 steps. 5,7-Dihydroxy-4 -methoxyflavone (4c) and 7-hydroxy-4 ,5-dimethoxyflavone(6c) were prepared following a different synthetic pathway. Among the synthetic flavones tested, 5-hydroxy-7-methoxyflavone analogs (3a-3e) showed moderate inhibitory activities of $PGE_2$ production from LPS-induced RAW 264.7 cells.

Vinylated and allylated chrysin analogues were prepared as congeners of prenylated flavonoids and evaluated their anti-inflammatory activity. 8-Substituted chrysin analogues were prepared from 2 -hydroxy-3 -iodo-4 ,6 -dimethoxyacetophenone in 3 steps. 3-Allylated chrysin analogues were prepared from chrysin in 3 steps. Synthesized chrysin analogues (4, 5 and 8) showed moderate inhibitory activities of $PGE_2$ production from LPS-induced RAW 264.7 cells.

Cuckoo Search Algorithm (CSA), a new meta-heuristic algorithm based on natural phenomenon of Cuckoo species and Lévy flights random walk has been widely and successfully applied to several optimization problems so far. In the paper two modified versions of CSA, where new solutions are generated using two distributions including Gaussian and Cauchy distributions in addition to imposing bound by best solutions mechanism are proposed for solving economic load dispatch (ELD) problem with multiple fuel options. The advantages of CSA with Gaussian distribution (CSA-Gauss) and CSA with Cauchy distribution (CSA-Cauchy) over CSA with Lévy distribution and other meta-heuristic are fewer parameters. The proposed CSA methods are tested on two systems with several load cases and obtained results are compared to other methods. The result comparisons have shown that the proposed methods are highly effective for solving ELD problem with multiple fuel options and/nor valve point effect.

This work focuses on systematic studies of dissolution engineering for Pt0.9M0.1/graphene(M = Au, Co, Cu, Fe, Mo, Ni, Pd, Ru, and Sn) counter electrodes (CEs). The developed nanohybrid materials exhibit higher catalytic activity and electrical conductivity compared with those of Pt/graphene CEs. The results also indicate the improved stability of the developed CEs in iodide electrolyte. Furthermore, the trend in the variation of the reactivity of the PtM alloys agrees well with the concept of density functional theory (one-electron description). An enhancement in the catalytic activity of the developed nanohybrids results from the electronic effect that originates from an upward shift of the platinum d-band to the Fermi energy level upon alloying. Thus, the Pt(0.9)M(0.1)graphene nanohybrids are cost-effective alternative CE materials to the expensive Pt. The obtained results provide a foundation for enhancing the catalytic activities of CEs for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). The implementation of the Pt0.9M0.1/graphene nanohybrids offers significant potential for increasing the efficiency of DSCs. (C) 2017 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Right lumbar lymph trunk injury after right laparoscopic donor nephrectomy: a case report
Le Thanh Dung,Le Nguyen Vu,Than Van Sy,Tran Ha Phuong,Ninh Viet Khai,Dao Xuan Hai,Nguyen Quang Nghia 대한이식학회 2023 Korean Journal of Transplantation Vol.37 No.2
Laparoscopic donor nephrectomy (LDN) is increasingly popular because of its advantages over open surgery. Chyle leak after donor nephrectomy is a rare but potentially lethal complication if not treated appropriately. We describe a case of a 43-year-old female patient with no remarkable history who presented a chyle leak on day 2 after right transperitoneal LDN. Since conservative treatment failed, the patient underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and intranodal lipiodol lymphangiography, which confirmed the chyle leak from the right lumbar lymph trunk into the right renal fossa. The chyle leak was percutaneously embolized twice, on postoperative day (POD) 5 and POD 10, by a mixture of N-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate and lipiodol. The drainage fluid decreased significantly after the second embolization. The subhepatic drainage tube was withdrawn on POD 14, and the patient was discharged on POD 17. MRI lymphangiography and intranodal lipiodol lymphangiography effectively identified the chyle leak point. Percutaneous embolization seems to be a safe, effective method for treating high-output chyle leaks.
