The pT-differential inclusive production cross section of the prompt charm-strange meson Ds+ in the rapidity range |y|<0.5 was measured in proton-proton collisions at s=7 TeV at the LHC using the ALICE detector. The analysis was performed on a data sample of 2.98x108 events collected with a minimum-bias trigger. The corresponding integrated luminosity is Lint=4.8 nb-1. Reconstructing the decay Ds+→φπ+, with φ→K-K+, and its charge conjugate, about 480 Ds+/- mesons were counted, after selection cuts, in the transverse momentum range 2<pT<12 GeV/c. The results are compared with predictions from models based on perturbative QCD. The ratios of the cross sections of four D meson species (namely D0, D+, D@?+ and Ds+) were determined both as a function of pT and integrated over pT after extrapolating to full pT range, together with the strangeness suppression factor in charm fragmentation. The obtained values are found to be compatible within uncertainties with those measured by other experiments in e+e-, ep and pp interactions at various centre-of-mass energies.

<P>The azimuthal anisotropy coefficient v(2) of prompt D-0, D+, D*+, and D-s(+) mesons was measured in midcentral (30%-50% centrality class) Pb-Pb collisions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair root s(NN)=5.02 TeV, with the ALICE detector at the LHC. The D mesons were reconstructed via their hadronic decays at midrapidity, |y| < 0.8, in the transverse momentum interval 1 < p(T) < 24 GeV/c. The measured D-meson v(2) has similar values as that of charged pions. The D-s(+) v(2), measured for the first time, is found to be compatible with that of nonstrange D mesons. The measurements are compared with theoretical calculations of charm-quark transport in a hydrodynamically expanding medium and have the potential to constrain medium parameters.</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>An improved value for the lifetime of the (anti-)hypertriton has been obtained using the data sample of Pb–Pb collisions at s NN = 5.02 TeV collected by the ALICE experiment at the LHC. The (anti-)hypertriton has been reconstructed via its charged two-body mesonic decay channel and the lifetime has been determined from an exponential fit to the d<I>N</I>/d(<I>ct</I>) spectrum. The measured value, τ = 242 − 38 + 34 (stat.) ± 17 (syst.) ps, is compatible with representative theoretical predictions, thus contributing to the solution of the longstanding hypertriton lifetime puzzle.</P>
Production of [FORMULA OMISSION] and [FORMULA OMISSION] in p–Pb collisions at [FORMULA OMISSION] TeV
Adamová,, D.,Aggarwal, M. M.,Aglieri Rinella, G.,Agnello, M.,Agrawal, N.,Ahammed, Z.,Ahmad, S.,Ahn, S. U.,Aiola, S.,Akindinov, A.,Alam, S. N.,Albuquerque, D. S. D.,Aleksandrov, D.,Alessandro, B. Springer 2017 European Physical Journal C Vol.77 No.6
<P>The transverse momentum distributions of the strange and double-strange hyperon resonances ([FORMULA OMISSION], [FORMULA OMISSION]) produced in p–Pb collisions at [FORMULA OMISSION] TeV were measured in the rapidity range [FORMULA OMISSION] for event classes corresponding to different charged-particle multiplicity densities, [FORMULA OMISSION]d[FORMULA OMISSION]/d[FORMULA OMISSION]. The mean transverse momentum values are presented as a function of [FORMULA OMISSION]d[FORMULA OMISSION]/d[FORMULA OMISSION], as well as a function of the particle masses and compared with previous results on hyperon production. The integrated yield ratios of excited to ground-state hyperons are constant as a function of [FORMULA OMISSION]d[FORMULA OMISSION]/d[FORMULA OMISSION]. The equivalent ratios to pions exhibit an increase with [FORMULA OMISSION]d[FORMULA OMISSION]/d[FORMULA OMISSION], depending on their strangeness content.</P>

<P>The influence of the proton irradiation on the fluctuation-induced conductivity in Ca8.5La1.5(Pt3As8)(Fe2As2)5 single crystal was investigated. The in-plane magnetoconductivity was measured up to <I>μ</I> 0 <I>H</I>?=?13 T. It is observed that the <I>T</I> c was suppressed up to 30.3 K from 32.5 K as a result of proton irradiation whereas the amplitude of the superconducting fluctuations is almost the same in both pristine and irradiated samples. The magnetoconductivity results analyzed by the Ullah and Dorsey scaling approaches showed that in the pristine sample, the 3D–2D crossover is situated near the <I>T</I> c. Furthermore, once the 3D–2D crossover occurs, it is found that there is a regime simultaneously described by 2D and 3D fluctuation behaviors in our Ca8.5La1.5(Pt3As8)(Fe2As2)5 sample. Meanwhile, the proton-irradiated sample showed the 3D fluctuation behavior.</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We report measurements of the inclusive J/<I>ψ</I> yield and average transverse momentum as a function of charged-particle pseudorapidity density d N ch / d η in p–Pb collisions at s NN = 5.02 TeV with ALICE at the LHC. The observables are normalised to their corresponding averages in non-single diffractive events. An increase of the normalised J/<I>ψ</I> yield with normalised d N ch / d η , measured at mid-rapidity, is observed at mid-rapidity and backward rapidity. At forward rapidity, a saturation of the relative yield is observed for high charged-particle multiplicities. The normalised average transverse momentum at forward and backward rapidities increases with multiplicity at low multiplicities and saturates beyond moderate multiplicities. In addition, the forward-to-backward nuclear modification factor ratio is also reported, showing an increasing suppression of J/<I>ψ</I> production at forward rapidity with respect to backward rapidity for increasing charged-particle multiplicity.</P>

<P>The azimuthal correlations of D mesons with charged particles were measured with the ALICE apparatus in pp collisions at [FORMULA OMISSION] and p–Pb collisions at [FORMULA OMISSION] at the Large Hadron Collider. [FORMULA OMISSION], [FORMULA OMISSION], and [FORMULA OMISSION] mesons and their charge conjugates with transverse momentum [FORMULA OMISSION] and rapidity in the nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass system [FORMULA OMISSION] (pp collisions) and [FORMULA OMISSION] (p–Pb collisions) were correlated to charged particles with [FORMULA OMISSION]. The yield of charged particles in the correlation peak induced by the jet containing the D meson and the peak width are compatible within uncertainties in the two collision systems. The data are described within uncertainties by Monte-Carlo simulations based on PYTHIA, POWHEG, and EPOS 3 event generators.</P>
J/ψ production as a function of charged particle multiplicity in pp collisions at s =7 TeV
ALICE Collaboration,Abelev, B.,Adam, J.,Adamova, D.,Adare, A.M.,Aggarwal, M.M.,Aglieri Rinella, G.,Agocs, A.G.,Agostinelli, A.,Aguilar Salazar, S.,Ahammed, Z.,Ahmad Masoodi, A.,Ahmad, N.,Ahn, S.U.,Aki North-Holland Pub. Co 2012 Physics letters: B Vol.712 No.3
The ALICE Collaboration reports the measurement of the relative J/ψ yield as a function of charged particle pseudorapidity density dNch/dη in pp collisions at s=7 TeV at the LHC. J/ψ particles are detected for pt>0, in the rapidity interval |y|<0.9 via decay into e+e-, and in the interval 2.5<y<4.0 via decay into μ+μ- pairs. An approximately linear increase of the J/ψ yields normalized to their event average (dNJ/ψ/dy)/<dNJ/ψ/dy> with (dNch/dη)/<dNch/dη> is observed in both rapidity ranges, where dNch/dη is measured within |η|<1 and pt>0. In the highest multiplicity interval with <dNch/dη(bin)≥24.1, corresponding to four times the minimum bias multiplicity density, an enhancement relative to the minimum bias J/ψ yield by a factor of about 5 at 2.5<y<4 (8 at |y|<0.9) is observed.

The irreversibility line and flux pinning properties of high-Tc superconductor SmFeAsO0.85 were studied using DC magnetization data. Polycrystalline SmFeAsO0.85 was prepared in a high pressure synthesis apparatus under the pressure of 6GPa. The results of DC susceptibility showed the superconducting transition at about 55K. A critical current density Jc(B) was calculated using Bean's critical state model. At low temperatures (=<20K), Jc(B) showed a relatively high value with weak dependence on an applied magnetic field. At higher temperatures, a stronger dependence of the magnetic field was observed, which resulted from decrease in a critical current density probably due to the flux creep effect. The irreversibility line (IL) agreed well with the flux creep theory of Matsushita et al. A comparison of normalized pinning force density with the theoretical models showed that the irreversible behavior in SmFeAsO0.85 is dominated mainly by normal point pinning (δTc) and surface pinning mechanisms.
