ATAD2, a remarkably conserved, yet poorly characterized factor is found upregulated and associated with poor prognosis in a variety of independent cancers in human. Studies conducted on the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae ATAD2 homologue, Yta7, are now indicating that the members of this family may primarily be regulators of chromatin dynamics and that their action on gene expression could only be one facet of their general activity. In this review, we present an overview of the literature on Yta7 and discuss the possibility of translating these findings into other organisms to further define the involvement of ATAD2 and other members of its family in regulating chromatin structure and function both in normal and pathological situations.
European Medieval and Renaissance Cosmography: A Story of Multiple Voices
CATTANEO, Angelo The Asian Association of World Historians 2016 The Asian review of world histories Vol.4 No.1
The objective of this essay is to propose a cultural history of cosmography and cartography from the thirteenth to the sixteenth centuries. It focuses on some of the processes that characterized these fields of knowledge, using mainly western European sources. First, it elucidates the meaning that the term cosmography held during the period under consideration, and the scientific status that this composite field of knowledge enjoyed, pointing to the main processes that structured cosmography between the thirteenth century and the sixteenth century. I then move on to expound the circulation of cosmographic knowledge among Portugal, Venice and Lisbon in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. This analysis will show how cartography and cosmography were produced at the interface of articulated commercial, diplomatic and scholarly networks; finally, the last part of the essay focuses on the specific and quite distinctive use of cosmography in fifteenth-century European culture: the representation of "geo-political" projects on the world through the reformulation of the very concepts of sea and maritime networks. This last topic will be developed through the study of Fra Mauro's mid-fifteenth-century visionary project about changing the world connectivity through the linking of several maritime and fluvial networks in the Indian Ocean, Central Asia, and the Mediterranean Sea basin, involving the circumnavigation of Africa. This unprecedented project was based on a variety of sources accumulated in the Mediterranean Sea basin as well as in Asia and in the Indian Ocean over the course of several centuries.

Orientation-dependent stereo Wigner time delay and electron localization in a small molecule
Vos, J.,Cattaneo, L.,Patchkovskii, S.,Zimmermann, T.,Cirelli, C.,Lucchini, M.,Kheifets, A.,Landsman, A. S.,Keller, U. American Association for the Advancement of Scienc 2018 Science Vol.360 No.6395

Attosecond metrology of atoms has accessed the time scale of the most fundamental processes in quantum mechanics. Transferring the time-resolved photoelectric effect from atoms to molecules considerably increases experimental and theoretical challenges. Here we show that orientation-and energy-resolved measurements characterize the molecular stereo Wigner time delay. This observable provides direct information on the localization of the excited electron wave packet within the molecular potential. Furthermore, we demonstrate that photoelectrons resulting from the dissociative ionization process of the CO molecule are preferentially emitted from the carbon end for dissociative (2)Sigma states and from the center and oxygen end for the (2)Pi states of the molecular ion. Supported by comprehensive theoretical calculations, this work constitutes a complete spatially and temporally resolved reconstruction of the molecular photoelectric effect.

Vol.18 No.1
In general, the product is used under several circumstances including environmental and usage conditions. According to the circumstances, the product has various performance degradation processes. In order to optimize the lifecycle of product usage, it is important to observe the degradation process and make suitable decisions on product operations. However, there are not much research works in evaluating the degree of product degradation based on product usage data. Recently, due to emerging ICT (Information and Communication Technology) technologies, it becomes possible to get the product usage data. Based on the gathered data, it is possible to analyze the degree of product degradation. The analysis of product usage data can improve product use and product design with advanced decisions. To this end, this study addresses one approach based on FMEA/FMECA method, called PDMCA (Performance, Degradation Modes and Criticality Analysis) for evaluating product degradation status and making suitable decisions.
