New multi-port hybrid DC circuit breaker for DC power grids

        Can Ding,Guang Pu,Kaiming Li,Yinbo Ji 전력전자학회 2024 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.24 No.3

In the field of fault isolation and clearance in flexible DC power grids, hybrid DC circuit breakers (HDCCB) have been widely used because of their advantages. However, their development is limited by high construction costs and inapplicability in some fault cases. In addition, adaptive reclosing capability is required for overhead DC lines with high fault probability. Therefore, this paper proposes a new type of multi-port hybrid DC circuit breaker (MP-HDCCB) with current limiting, breaking, and self-charging capabilities. The capacitor polarity reversal circuit is designed to reduce the influence of capacitor pre-charging on the normal operation of the system and to solve the problem of two consecutive line faults occurring in a short period of time. In addition, the circuit breaker can limit the current and break in the face of a single line fault, multiple line faults at the same time, and bus faults. It also has the ability of adaptive reclosing and normal operation of the line after a bus fault. Based on the proposed topology, a 500 kV four-terminal DC system is designed, and a model is established in PSCAD/EMTDC to verify the capabilities of the circuit breaker. Results show that the circuit breaker has adaptive reclosing capability and can realize fault current limiting and breaking under diff erent fault conditions.

Modular cascaded multi-port DC circuit breaker with fault current-limiting capability

        Can Ding,Kaiming Li,Zhao Yuan,Guang Pu 전력전자학회 2024 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.24 No.3

In recent years, with the rapid development of high-voltage flexible direct current (DC) transmission systems, more and more multi-port high-voltage DC systems have been successfully put into operation. Therefore, the number of connecting ports on the DC bus is gradually increasing, which necessitates higher requirements for clearing fault current. To better protect the DC power grid, this paper integrates a DC fault current limiter with a multi-port DC circuit breaker. This article proposes a modular cascaded multi-port hybrid DC circuit breaker topology. It also elaborates on the topology structure, working principle, and control program under three different fault conditions. It completes the theoretical derivation and analysis of the circuit breaker fault isolation process, as well as the parameter design of the core components. Finally, a model is established in PSCAD/EMTDC for simulation verification. The application performance of the circuit breaker in four-terminal DC systems is studied and analyzed, and the current-limiting eff ect of the multi-port DC circuit breaker proposed in this article is demonstrated. In addition, the disconnection performance and energy consumption of the arrester have been improved to a certain extent, which has good feasibility and economy.

Chirality detection of amino acid enantiomers by organic electrochemical transistor

        Zhang, Lijun,Wang, Guiheng,Xiong, Can,Zheng, Lei,He, Jianbo,Ding, Yunsheng,Lu, Hongbo,Zhang, Guobing,Cho, Kilwon,Qiu, Longzhen Elsevier 2018 Biosensors & bioelectronics Vol.105 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Chiral recognition of α-amino acids is attracting increasing interest due to the importance of α-amino acids in protein metabolism as well as in food products and pharmaceuticals. Organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) with gate electrodes modified with molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) films were fabricated and successfully used as highly selective and sensitive chiral recognition biosensors for <SMALL>D/L</SMALL>-tryptophan (<SMALL>D</SMALL> <SMALL>/</SMALL> <SMALL>L</SMALL>-Trp) and <SMALL>D/L</SMALL>-tyrosine (<SMALL>D</SMALL> <SMALL>/</SMALL> <SMALL>L</SMALL>-Tyr). The MIP films, which can specifically recognize and has an electrocatalytic effect on the oxidation of Trp and Tyr, together with the amplification function of an OECT, provide a highly sensitive and selective OECT biosensor. The sensor showed a linear response range for <SMALL>L</SMALL>-Trp and <SMALL>L</SMALL>-Tyr from 300 nM to 10 μM with a sensitivity of 3.19 and 3.64 μA/μM, respectivity. And the detection limit for <SMALL>L</SMALL>-Trp and <SMALL>L</SMALL>-Tyr is of 2 nM and 30 nM (S/N > 3). The selectivity factors of <SMALL>L</SMALL>-Trp, <SMALL>D</SMALL>-Trp, <SMALL>L</SMALL>-Tyr and <SMALL>D</SMALL>-Tyr to their enantiomers are 11.6, 3.5, 14.5 and 2.6, respectively. This method can pave the way for widespread applications of OECT-based sensors in chiral material identification.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> An novel chiral recognition MIP-OECT sensor was developed. </LI> <LI> The MIP films showed good performance of selective and electro-catalytic oxidation for Trp and Tyr. </LI> <LI> The MIP films together with the amplification function of an OECT afforded a highly sensitive, selective sensor for chirality detection of amino acid enantiomers. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

      • An Automatic Method of Stereoscopic Video Synthesis from Monoscopic Video

        Baoliang Wang,Chunping Hou,Xinyu Li,Can Ding 한국산학기술학회 2014 SmartCR Vol.4 No.4

This paper presents a novel depth-image-based rendering system for the generation of stereoscopic video from a monoscopic video sequence. The key point of the proposed system is that all the conversion procedures are accomplished automatically. First, we use Global Motion Estimation and an Adaptive Gaussian Mixture Model to segment the foreground and background. Second, different depth values are assigned to the foreground and background. Finally, image warping according to the depth map and stereoscopic video is synthesized. Experimental results show that the proposed method can effectively segment the foreground from the background and synthesize a satisfactory 3D effect, so the proposed approach is successful.

      • Lymphangiogenic and Angiogenic Microvessel Density in Chinese Patients with Gastric Carcinoma: Correlation with Clinicopathologic Parameters and Prognosis

        Cao, Fang,Hu, Yong-Wei,Li, Ping,Liu, Ying,Wang, Kuo,Ma, Lei,Li, Peng-Fei,Ni, Can-Rong,Ding, Hou-Zhong Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.8

The incidence of gastric cancer worldwide, and in particular in developing countries, has shown a marked increase. Poor prognosis of gastric cancer patients occurs due to the rapid metastasis of the disease via the lymphatic and blood vessels. The aim of this study was to investigate the expression and the clinical significance of D2-40 and CD34 in human gastric cancer. D2-40 and CD34 expression wasdetected in 1,072 cases of Chinese patients with gastric carcinoma using immunohistochemistry. The lymphatic vessel density (LVD) and microvessel density (MVD) were calculated and analyzed and the correlation with the clinicopathological factors and prognosis was determined. The LVD and MVD of the gastric cancer cases were significantly higher compared to those of normal tissues (P < 0.05). The expression of D2-40-LVD and CD34-MVD in the malignancies were positively related to the age, tumor size, invasion depth, lymphatic metastasis and pathological tumor-node-metastasis (pTNM) (P < 0.05); However, no statistically significant difference was identified between them with the patient gender (P > 0.05). Up-regulation of D2-40 and CD34 expression was significantly correlated with the poor survival rate in univariate and multivariate analyses. The LVD marked by D2-40 and the MVD marked by CD34 were positively correlated to the clinicopathological factors of the malignancies and may play important role in the development and progression of gastric cancer.
