        활성탄에 대한 카드뮴킬레이트 화합물의 흡착특성

        Amino carbonic acid계(NTA, EDTA, DTPA)와 Amin계(Phen, TEA) 킬레이트 시약을 사용하여 활성탄에 Cd(II)을 흡착시키므로 pH, 몰비[Rm=킬레이트 시약/Cd(II), ㏖/㏖), 킬레이트시약의 흡착성 및 배위자의 영향을 조사하였다. EDTA, DTPA 및 Phen을 사용했을 때 몰비 (Rm)에 따라 최적 pH영역이 이동하는 현상을 볼 수 있었으며, NTA와 TEA는 Cd이온의 제거에 효과적이 아님을 알 수 있었다. 그 최적조건은 DTPA인 경우 Rm=1, pH 5에서 Phen인 경우 Rm=10, pH 5일때 Cd(II)[초기농도 10㎎/ℓ]의 약 95%를 제거할 수 있었다. The effects of PH, molar ratio [Rm= chelating agent/Cd(II), ㏖/㏖], adsorptivity of chelating agent and ligand for adsorption of Cd(II) by activated carbon were investigated by using Amino carbonic acid group (NTA, EDTA, DTPA) and Amin group (Phen., TEA) as a chelating agents. It was found that the optimal PH was shifted with the increasing molar ratio (Rm) of EDTA, DTPA and Phen. and that TEA and NTA were not useful to remove Cadmium ion. Under the optimal condituon PH=5, Rm=1 (DTPA) and PH=5, Rm=10 (Phen.), the removal percent of Cd(II) [initial concentration=10 ㎎/ℓ] was about 95%.

      • The Escape of Temperature-Sensitive T Antigen Immortalized Rat Hepatocytes From Conditional Immortalization

        Conditionally immortalized hepatocytes (CIH) established with a gene for the temperature-sensitive mutant of the T antigen (tsT) have characteristics to stop proliferating and to differentiate at nonpermissive temperatures (37-39℃) due to inactivation of the T antigen. Therefore, they may be a good alternative to primary hepatocytes for experimental investigations or clinical applications. Deinduction of the T antigen results in a transient increase of p53 in these cells, leading to reexpression of normal senescence because of the telomere attrition occurring during the early stages of immortalization. To determine this T antigen dependency for the maintenance of immortality, a type of rat CIH was cultured continuously at 39℃. The frequency of occurrence of T-antigen-independent clones ranged from 0.053% to 0.093%. These clones maintained the temperature-sensitive property of the T antigen; nevertheless, they were able to progress to the S phase and proliferate without undergoing apoptosis at 39℃ as at 33℃, a permissive temperature. The temperature-sensitive point mutation of tsT was not affected in these clones and the T antigen was functioning properly. The integrity of the p53 pathway was also maintained from the point of Western blot analysis of p21. Although the telomerase continued to be expressed and the telomere length was maintained, marked chromosomal damage could not be avoided in these cells. It is a plausible explanation that this escape phenomenon from conditional immortalization may be related to the change of other genes involved in cell cycles, which have yet to be elucidated. In conclusion, CIH could lose their temperature-sensitive characteristics without the change of tsT, itself, and the T antigen is not always necessary to maintain their immortality. Therefore, the results obtained from experimental investigations using these cells should be interpreted carefully, and unpredictable phenotypic changes should also be taken into consideration when using them in clinical applications.

        Carcinosarcoma of the stomach is regarded as a rare malignant neoplasm composed of both carcinomatous and sarcomatous components in a given tumor. Few cases have been reported since 1904. This is a case of carcinosarcoma of the stomach in a 61-year-old man. He suffered from indigestion, vomiting, and epigastric pain. Endoscopic finding showed a huge protruding mass with intact mucosa on the posterior wall of the antrum up to the pylorus. Surgery was performed and carcinosarcoma with pancreatic invasion was confirmed by pathology.

        2-프로판올-물 혼합용매에서의 Tetraalkylammonium Chlorides의 분몰랄 부피

        The apparent molal volumes ${\phi}_v$ of a series of homologous tetraalkylammonium chlorides, $Me_4NCl, Et_4NCl, Pr_4NCl,\;and\;Bu_4NCl$, in a series of isopropanol-water mixtures have been determined at $30^{\circ}C$ from precision density measurements using pycnometers. The values of ${\phi}_v$ extrapolated to infinite dilution give partial molal volumes $\={V}^{\circ}$s which are almost additive for successive homologues and enable one to determine the absolute individual ionic partial molal volumes. The experimental results are discussed in terrns of the varying size and surface charge of the ions and the structure of the binary solvent mixtures. The results indicate that at 0.1 mole fraction isopropanol the maximum structuredness of water causes a minimum in the tetraalkylammonium-cation partial molal volumes, while at 0.2 mole fraction the solvent structure is such that the free volumes is a minimum and the electrostrictive effect of chloride ion is a maximum.

        위에 발생한 원발성 편평상피암종 1예와 선 편평상피암종 1예

        Gastric squamous cell carcinoma is very rare and is termed both pure squamous cell carcinoma and adenosquamous cell carcinoma. The pathogenesis of this neoplasm remains obscure and theories vary widely. It tends to occur in the distal half of the stomach, frequently along the lesser curvature, and affects a slightly younger age group with a greater male preponderance compared to adenocarcinoma. One case of gastric squamous cell carcinoma and another case of gastric adenosquamous cell carcinoma is herein reported. In the first case, a 70-year old male was admitted as a result of epigastric pain. On endoscopy, abdominal CT and UGI, a huge fungating mass in the posterior wall of the antrum of the stomach was revealed. A subtotal gastrectomy with Billroth II anastomosis was performed. Unlike the endoscopic biopsy finding however, the histopathologic diagnosis determined a squamous cell carcinoma of the stomach. In the other case, a 64-year old male was admitted due to epigastric pain. Upon examination, a huge Borrmann type III tumor mass in the lower body and antrum of the stomach along the lesser curvature was seen. Endoscopic biopsy finding revealed a suspicious adenocarcinoma, and an operation was performed. Unlike the endoscopic biopsy finding however, the histopathologic diagnosis revealed a adenosquamous cell carcinoma of the stomach.

        비활동성 궤양성 대장염과 관련된 괴저성 농피증 1예

        Ulcerative colitis is assoicated with various extraintestinal manifestations. Skin lesions are occurring in 9-19% of patients with ulcerative colitis. Among these lesions erythema nodosum is the most common and pyoderma gangrenosum is the most severe. While pyoderma gangrenosum occurs more frequently in patients with ulcerative colitis, erythema nodosum occurs more frequently in patients with Crohn's disease. The overall incidence of pyoderma gangrenosum is approximately 1-5% of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Painful lesions usually appear on the pretibial area, and develop in patients with long-standing IBD, but occasionally precede the diagnosis of IBD and may occur after colectomy. Lesions are discrete ulcers with a necrotic base and begin as small painful pustules, which coalesce into a fluctuant sterile abscess within days. Usually pyoderma gangrenosum is present for weeks to months, occasionally persisting for more than 1 year. The recurrence rate is reported in about 33% of all cases. Lesions usually appear in patients with pancolitis and respond to treatment of systemic corticosteroids, antimicrobial agents, and occasionally are treated with cyclosporine or surgery. We experienced a case of pyoderma gangrenosum developed on the left pretibial area in a patient with inactive ulcerative colitis, and completely healed with oral prednisolone, antimicrobial agents and external dressing. Subsequently, we report this case with a review of corresponding literature.
