경제엘리트의 변동은 계획경제에서 시장경제로 전환하는 데 있어서 가장 민감한 문제에 속한다. 엘리트 변동의 상이한 유형들은 전환과의 진행과정과 밀접하게 연관되어 있다. King과 Szelenyi는 이것을 세 가지 기본 유형으로 구분하였고, 이 논문에서는 그 세 유형을 출발점으로 삼고 있다. 그것은 "capitalism from below" (중국, 베트남), "capitalism from above" (러시아 루마니아) 그리고 "Capitalism from without" (동유럽)의 세 유형이다. 동독은 체제전환에 대한 국제비교연구에서 대부분의 경우 제외된다. 그것은 독일 통일의 과정이 너무 특이한 것처럼 보이기 때문이다. 이 논문의 목적은 동독의 체제 엘리트 교체과정이 "capitalism from without"의 극단적인 모형으로 해석될 수 있다는 것을 보여주는 것이다. 정확하게 표현하자면, 급속한 서구체제로의 통합과 함께 온 정치적 개방, 자유화 민영화는 그것이 동유럽에서 재산 소유자와 경제엘리트의 새로운 계급의 형성하였던 것과 유사한 효과를 통일된 독일에서도 보여주고 있다는 것이다. 거기에는 정치적 기득권자들에 의해 민영화가 성공적으로 저지되고 대기업과 주요산업분야를 서구의 투자가들이 차지하게 되고 중소기업 분야에서 지역의 소유자계급이 등장하고 체제 전환 이전에 국가 기업에서 지도적 역할을 담당했던 경험이 있는 사람들에 (부대표, 국장) 의해서 경제엘리트가 재생산되는 것 등이 포함된다. 물론 동독에서의 경험을 세 번째 유형에 포함시킨다고 해서 동독과 동유럽 이웃 국가들에서의 경험 간에 존재하는 차이 자체를 부정하는 것은 아니다. 그것은 오히려 독일 통일의 특수한 효과를 더욱 정확하게 지적할 수 있도록 도움을 준다. 한반도에서의 경우 남북한 통일 이후의 체제 엘리트 교체의 과정이 세 번째 유형을 따라 진행될 기능성이 높지만 동시에 그 과정이 독일이 간 길과는 다른 것이 될 것이라는 점 또한 의심의 여지가 없다.

Regulation of Pathogenesis by Light in Cercospora zeae-maydis: An Updated Perspective

The fungal genus Cercospora is one of the most ubiquitous groups of plant pathogenic fungi, and gray leaf spot caused by C. zeae-maydis is one of the most widespread and damaging foliar diseases of maize in the world. While light has been implicated as a critical environmental regulator of pathogenesis in C. zeae-maydis, the relationship between light and the development of disease is not fully understood. Recent discoveries have provided new insights into how light influences pathogenesis and morphogenesis in C. zeae-maydis, particularly at the molecular level. This review is focused on integrating old and new information to provide an updated perspective of how light influences pathogenesis,and provides a working model to explain some of the underlying molecular mechanisms. Ultimately, a thorough molecular-level understanding of how light regulates pathogenesis will augment efforts to manage gray leaf spot by improving host resistance and disease management strategies.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and the correlation between LUTS and osteoarthritis (OA) symptoms in the vendors working in a conventional market. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 153 vendors aged 40 and over from August 10th to September 8th, 2020, in a conventional market. Data were collected via the self-reported questionnaires. We assessed LUTS by International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) and OA symptoms by Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC). Results: The mean age of 153 subjects was 61.31±9.92 years old. The mean score of IPSS and WOMAC was 5.37±5.68 (range, 0–35) and 16.89±19.61 (range, 0–96). Fifty-one percent of subjects had urinary incontinence at least monthly. Twenty-four point two percent of subjects had moderate-to-severe LUTS which were defined as a score of IPSS ≥8. LUTS were positively correlated with OA symptoms (r=0.41, P<0.001). Conclusions: The results showed that LUTS were associated with OA symptoms, and it also emphasized the need for vendors to be provided with a health education program to manage and prevent their LUTS and OA symptoms.
