PWM DC-AC Converter Regulation using a Multi-Loop Single Input Fuzzy PI Controller
Ayob, Shahrin Md.,Azli, Naziha Ahmad,Salam, Zainal The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2009 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.9 No.1
This paper presents a PWM dc-ac converter regulation using a Single Input Fuzzy PI Controller (SIFPIC). The SIFPIC is derived from the signed distanced method, which is a simplification of a conventional fuzzy controller. The simplification results in a one-dimensional rule table, that allows its control surface to be approximated by a piecewise linear relationship. The controller multi-loop structure is comprised of an outer voltage and an inner current feedback loop. To verify the performance of the SIFPIC, a low power PWM dc-ac converter prototype is constructed and the proposed control algorithm is implemented. The experimental results show that the SIFPIC performance is comparable to a conventional Fuzzy PI controller, but with a much reduced computation time.
A New Optimum Design for a Single Input Fuzzy Controller Applied to DC to AC Converters
Ayob, Shahrin Md.,Salam, Zainal,Azli, Naziha Ahmad The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2010 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.10 No.3
In this paper, the design of an optimum single input Fuzzy controller for application in dc to ac converters is presented. Contrary to conventional Fuzzy controllers, the proposed controller has a smaller number of rules and tuning parameters but is capable of performing identically to a conventional controller. These benefits lead to a simpler controller design. The controller is designed as a PI controller for small-signal disturbances. However, for optimum large-signal performance, heuristic tuning is used. The tuning is less complicated and hence optimum large-signal performance is achievable. The system is simulated and a hardware prototype was developed for comparison purposes.

Design and Implementation of a Single Input Fuzzy Logic Controller for Boost Converters

This paper describes the design and hardware implementation of a Single Input Fuzzy Logic Controller (SIFLC) to regulate the output voltage of a boost power converter. The proposed controller is derived from the signed distance method, which reduces a multi-input conventional Fuzzy Logic Controller (CFLC) to a single input FLC. This allows the rule table to be approximated to a one-dimensional piecewise linear control surface. A MATLAB simulation demonstrated that the performance of a boost converter is identical when subjected to the SIFLC or a CFLC. However, the SIFLC requires nearly an order of magnitude less time to execute its algorithm. Therefore the former can replace the latter with no significant degradation in performance. To validate the feasibility of the SIFLC, a 50W boost converter prototype is built. The SIFLC algorithm is implemented using an Altera FPGA. It was found that the SIFLC with asymmetrical membership functions exhibits an excellent response to load and input reference changes.

In Iraq, excessive exposure to insecticides is increasingly becoming uncontrollable, the objective of this work was to assess the possible ameliorative role of taxifolin and vitamin c against diazinon-induced myocardial injury in rats. 36 sprague female rats divided into 6 groups of 6 rats each. Group 1 received diazinone 20 mg/kg gavaged for 30 days. Group 2 received taxifolin (25 mg/kg) and vitamin C (100 mg /kg) co-administered together and gavaged daily for 30 days before oral diazinone (20 mg/kg). Group 3 and group 4 were treated with taxifoline (25 mg/kg) and vitamin C (100 mg /kg) respectively, gavaged separately for 30 days before diazinone (20 mg/kg) administration. group 5 was considered as control 1 received taxifolin (25 mg/kg) and vitamin C (100 mg /kg) co-administered together and gavaged daily for 30 days. The last group, group 6 considered as control 2 which received vehicle of diazinon. Rats’ weights, water and food intake were measured and the general vital signs of rats were observed and noted. At the end of study, rats are sacrificed, blood withdrawn for biochemical analysis and heart were excised for glutathione peroxidase and pathological evaluation. Significant increase in body weights in all treated and control groups except group 1. Troponin, LDH, AST and ALT levels were significantly increased in group 1 revealing the existence of ischemia and damage in hearts. Treatment with taxifolin and vitamin C combination reduced their levels significantly to concentrations comparable to that in the control groups. Such finding supported by histopathological observation. Moreover, this study showed that diazinon administration significantly deteriorated lipid profile, co-administration of taxifolin and vitamin C was resulted in a significant improvement in lipid profile associated with increased in glutathione peroxidase values showing significant improvement in antioxidant levels. Sub-acute administration of pharmacological doses of taxifolin and vitamin C exerts cardioprotective effects against diazinon-induced myocardial injury in rats.

In this paper a cycloconverter-type high frequency transformer link inverter with a reduced switch count is analyzed and designed. The proposed topology consists of an H-bridge inverter at the transformer’s primary side and a cycloconverter with three bidirectional switches at the secondary. All of the switches of the cycloconverter operate in non-resonant zero voltage and zero current switching modes. To overcome a high voltage surge problem resulting from the transformer leakage inductance, phase angle control based on natural commutation is employed. The effectiveness of the proposed inverter is verified by constructing s 750W prototype. Experimentally, the inverter is able to supply a near sinusoidal output voltage with a total harmonic distortion of less than 1%. For comparison, a PSpice simulation of the inverter is also carried out. It was found that the experimental results are in very close agreement with the simulation.
