The Chapters of “Book of Dada Gorgud” Preserved in The Memories
Almaz Hasangizi Institute for Eurasian Turkic Studies Dongduk Wome 2018 The Journal of Eurasian Turkic Stidies Vol.1 No.-
Folklor specialists have different opinions about the creation and performance history of one of the most valuable heritages of Turkic culture, the mother book of Oghuzs – “Dada Gorgud”, its number of chapters, composition and etc. It is known that, in contrast with other eposes, it has been a few centuries that “Dada Gorgud” is no longer vocally performed. But some of the chapters of the epos, the manuscript of which has come until today, have been recited and preserved differently among the nations both in Turkey and Azerbaijan. We have to note that only five chapters of the twelve existing chapters of “Book of Dada Gorgud” have long lived in the memories and performed, namely the chapters “Bughaj, son of Dirsa khan”, “How Gazan khan’s house was pillaged”, “Bamsi Beyrak, son of Gambura”, “Dali Domrul, son of Dukha Goja” and “How Basat killed Goggle-Eye”. Some expressions related to epos can be seen in the folk songs, as well as there are some tale versions of the epos chapters. Moreover, some paremic expressions have taken their origin from “Dada Gorgud”. We can clearly see motives of “Dada Gorgud” in both heroic and love eposes created during later periods. The article analyzes the traces of different versions of the chapters of the “Book of Dada Gorgud” which has been preserved until nowadays in folk literature. Key words: “Dada Gorgud”, epos, vocal performance, tale, folk, song
