In the present study, a novel eco-friendly production of silk fabrics dyed with different natural dye bath concentrations (40, 80, 120, 160, 200 and 240 g/l) extracted from neem (Azadirachta indica) leaves was developed. The surface morphology of the fabrics was examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy to characterize the chemical structure of the fabrics. The SEM images of the undyed fabric show that the fabric was tightly woven with little porosity between the fibres with dozens of silk threads in orthogonal directions. By increasing the neem concentration, a scale of fine particles grew on the surface of the silk fabrics with little macroscopical defects was demonstrated. The fiber diameters and tightness between filaments were significantly increased. The FTIR displayed that, neem dye does not change the characteristic peaks of the silk fabrics. Also, the evaluation of the antimicrobial activity of the undyed and neem dyed silk fabrics was monitored for Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria in addition to yeasts and fungi by using the agar diffusion method. The comparison between the different dye bath concentrations was based on the inhibition zones obtained after incubation. The antimicrobial activity in leaf extract of neem was estimated in Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis and Lactobacillus cereus (Gram positive bacteria); Escherichia coli (Gram negative bacteria); Candida albicans and Candida tropicalis (yeasts); and Aspergillus niger and Fusarium solani (fungi). The results emphasized that, the highest neem dye bath concentration (240 g/l) was found to display good inhibitory effect against the Gram positive and reasonable activity against the Gram negative bacteria. Furthermore, the different dye bath concentrations possess no activities against yeast and fungi. In conclusion, the data reveal that the increase of neem dye concentration does not damage the silk fabric; however, it improves its antimicrobial activity by incorporating with antimicrobial agent. The current study highlighted that using neem leaves had beneficial effect in controlling the pathogenic microbial organisms.

PEOPLER-II is a hybrid robot with 8-leg ends and 4-wheels attached to a knee joint rim rotating around a hip joint. It has been developed to assist people who needs enhancement for their capability of locomotion. In order to cope with different environments, investigation of the robot trajectory is of significant importance while africtional condition of the surface influences the form of trajectory. Therefore, this paper extends a C++ objectoriented simulator based on mathematical expression for estimating energy cost of motion utilizing the Principle of Virtual Work to the wheeled locomotion mode of the PEOPLER-II. We clarify the robot trajectory form of turning and spinning. Actually, we demonstrate the simulated trajectories on flat surfaces. In addition, we show the effect of theve locity ratio between right and left side wheels on the trajectory forms as well as the inclination angle of the surface.

The use of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) for torsional strengthening of reinforced concrete (RC) single cell box beams has been analyzed considerably by researchers worldwide. However, little attention has been paid to torsional strengthening of multicell box girders in terms of both experimental and numerical research. This paper reports the experimental work in an overall investigation for torsional strengthening of multicell box section RC girders with externally-bonded Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer CFRP strips. Numerical work was carried out using non-linear finite element modeling (FEM). Good agreement in terms of torque-twist behavior, steel and CFRP reinforcement responses, and crack patterns was achieved. The unique failure modes of all the specimens were modeled correctly as well.
El paradigma del heroe en La cuentistica de Cortazar
( Abeer Mohamed Abd El Hafez ) 한국스페인어문학회 2010 스페인어문학 Vol.0 No.57

In the present work, the vibration characteristics of sandwich nanocomposite shells, fortified with graphene platelets (GPLs) have been researched. The shell has been considered as the stadium roof shape with double curvatures under vibration due to earthquake. The nanocomposite has the matrix of concrete which is fortified with uniform or linear dispersions of GPLs. Also, the core possesses cellular type square architecture for which the effective elastic modulus has been defined in the context of relative density based relations. Based upon the classic shell strains containing two identical curvatures, the governing equations have been established and solved through differential quadrature approach. It will be seen that the vibrational frequencies rely on the core relative density, height of layers, the amount and dispersions of GPLs and even shell geometric parameters.

Faba bean (Vicia faba L.) is one of the most important legume crops worldwide. High salinity is a major constraint for faba bean productivity in many countries, including Egypt. Here, we examined the efects of salinity-induced toxicity on the growth of two local faba bean genotypes by analyzing physiological and biochemical responses to identify the salt-tolerant attributes between the genotypes. In vitro experiments were carried out to characterize the response of two faba bean genotypes (Sakha 3 and Nubaria 2) to salinity imposed by diferent sea-salt concentrations (1000, 3000, 5000 and 7000 ppm). For both genotypes, salinity induced a marked reduction in dry matter gain along with a reduction in shoots height, roots length, leaves number and branches number. In addition, the photosynthetic pigments (chlorophyll a, b) were signifcantly decreased with the increase in salinity. Changes in tissue ion levels, peroxidase (POD) and polyphenol oxidase (PPO) activities depended on genotype, tissue and salinity level. The deteriorating efect of salt stress on the growth performance of genotype Nubaria 2 was lower than that of Sakha 3. This is maybe ascribed to its better antioxidant enzymes activities. Moreover, Nubaria 2 accumulated low quantities of Na+ in the shoots with a higher accumulation of ions in the roots compared to Sakha 3. The obtained results suggested Nubaria 2 seedlings have a strong ability to sustain sea-salt stress by the regulation of transport and distribution of ions and this genotype may be characterized as a salt excluder.
