An X-band CMOS Doppler Motion Sensor

본 논문에서는 2 개의 출력단자를 갖는 상호교차 결합형 LC 발진기와 수동형 믹서를 CMOS MMIC로 구현하였다. 하나의 발진기 출력단자는 송신 안테나에 직접 연결하고 다른 출력단자는 믹서에 연결하는 방식으로 X-대역의 도플러 동작감지기를 구현하여. 기존에 넓은 면적을 차지하고 구현하기에 부담이 되었던 분배기나 결합기를 제거하여 단순화 하는 방식을 제안한다. 발진기와 믹서는 0.18 mm CMOS 기술로 동일한 다이에 집적하였다. 제작한 MMIC COMS 발진기는 발진주파수 10.5 GHz에서 1 MHz 오프셋에서 -108.5 dBc/Hz의 위상 잡음으로 14.42 dBm의 출력전력이 측정되었다. 이 측정된 출력전력은 기존에 문헌에서 발표된 동대역의 MMIC CMOS 발진기의 출력전력 기록에 비하여 최고의 기록이다. 평면 송신 안테나, 평면 수신 안테나 및 능동 저역 통과 필터를 설계하여 본 발진기와 믹서의 집적 회로에 연결하여 도플러 모션 센서를 구현 하였다. 구현된 도플러 모션 센서로 15 미터의 거리에서 사람의 움직임 신호를 탐지 할 수 있음을 확인하였다. In this paper, a cross - coupled LC oscillator with two output terminals and a passive mixer are implemented by CMOS MMIC. One oscillator output terminal is connected directly to the transmitting antenna and the other output terminal is connected to the mixer to implement the X-band Doppler motion detector. We propose a simplification method by eliminating the distributor or coupler, which occupies a large area and is burdensome to implement. The oscillator and mixer were integrated on the same die with 0.18 mm CMOS technology. The measured output power of the MMIC COMS oscillator was 14.42 dBm with phase noise of -108.5 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset at the oscillation frequency of 10.5 GHz. This measured output power is the best record compared to the output power record of the MMIC CMOS oscillator of the same band published in the literature. A planar transmit antenna, a planar receive antenna, and an active low pass filter are designed and connected to the oscillator and the integrated circuit of the mixer to implement the Doppler motion sensor. It is confirmed that the implemented Doppler motion sensor can detect human motion signal at a distance of 15 meters
