The high torque variation induced by diesel engine combustion forces on the turbineinput shaft system of the transmission as an excitation in the cranktrain. Owing to high torsional vibration characteristic of a damper clutch in auto-transmission, the input shaft system may be breakdown during the durability cycles and torsional vibration may occur something unuasual vibration on the driveline in the vehicle at specific condition. This paper identifies the mechanism of unusual torsional vibration during damper clutch lockup on the vehicle and describes on the improvement and optimization of drivetrain over-vibration.

The noise generation mechanisms of two types of direct-acting valve train system, employing hydraulic and mechanical lash adjuster(HLA, MLA), were investigated by taking a series of sound and vibrtion measurements. These measurements were focused on valve cam profile, tappet movement and the others in order to identify noise sources and the noise generation mechanisms in a direct-acting valve train. Further experiments established that impulsive noise(Sound pressure level and sound quality) of a mechanical lash adjuster (MLA) can be greatly reduced by optimizing the cam profile and modifying geometries of other noise generating parts without great loss of engine performance and emission.

According to torsional vibration characteristic of a tunable dual stiffness type clutch(TDSTC) in auto-transmission, the input shaft system have occurred breakdown for the duration cycle and over-vibration happened on vehicle at specific condition. This paper introduces the improvement of the torsional vibration of input shaft and the vehicle vibration by tuning of the TDSTC.

This paper shows a whole noise developing procedure and items for the new developed 6th speed automatic transmission. Through the planetary operating frequency analysis, predict the planetary gear noise problem. To reduce this noise, one-way clutch, input shaft length, and valve body cover shapes were changed. To develop the transfer gear and differential gear noise quality, analysis procedure and experimental tests are also done and fix the tooth tolerance specifications. And gear grinding methods are also used . Due to demands for developing and reducing the serious abnormal bearing noise, oil pump noise and torque converter noise, some special test procedures and specifications are developed and adapted. By using the acoustic camera and lazer-vibrometer, radiation noise could be handled and reduced quickly and effectively. The whole developing process and results will offer good guides to the engineers who develop the next generation transmission.

The aim of this paper is to establish the optimum fabrication condition of specimens, using the Vapor Deposition Polymerization Method(VDPM), which is one of modesto prepare functional organic thin films using a dry process, and to develop a thin film type humidity sensor which has good humidity sensitive characteristics. The inner part of the film became denser and roughness of the film surface eased as curing temperature increased so that thickness of the film could be made uniform. This also shows the appropriate curing temperature was 250℃. The basic structure of the humidity sensor is a parallel capacitor which consists of three layers of Aluminum/Polyimide/Aluminum. The result of SEM and AFM measurement shows that the thickness of PI thin films decreased and the refraction increased as curing temperature increased, which indicates that a capacitance-type humidity sensor utilizing polyimide thin film is fabricated on a glass substrate. The characteristics of fabricated samples were measured under various conditions, and the samples had linear characteristics in the range of 20~80 %RH, independent of temperature change, and low hysteresis characteristic.
북미 6속 자동변속기 공장 EOL NVH 개발에 대한 연구

This paper shows a whole noise quality checking system for the new developed 6th speed automatic transmission manufactured in USA. Due to demand for manufacturing of the high NVH quality transmissions in the mass product line, some special checking system called EOL NVH is adapted. This EOL system is using vibration sensor and analysis technologies. Through adapting vibration analysis technologies and functions likewise RMS, crest factor, harmonics, peak, band and order tracking, various noise problems caused by wear, nick and deformations could be successfully detected and predicted. Therefore, automatic transmissions manufactured in the USA could get high NVH quality. The developing process described in this paper and results on EOL system will offer good guides to the engineers who built the next transmission factory.
