        As the level of the national income has been improved and the whole nation health insurance project has been spread, medical demand for dental health is also increasing. To cope with the increased medical demand, the need of dental health education and preventive dental care is recognized, and the number of dental hygienists is being increased with increase in dental clinics and hospitals. While more weight is actually given to treatment than prevention in hospitals, emphasis is placed on prevention in public health centers of state-run organizations and dental hygienists are performing the duty. According to this, dental hygienists shall be treated and recognized as professionals, who instruct people in dental health and assist the dentists in hospitals. Therefore to suggest vision to the students of department of dental hygiene, give them a solid motive, and inspire them with professional sense so that they can devote themselves to their duty with pride and self-confidence in the field can lead to contribution to dental health of each individual and the whole nation, in order to train them to be dental hygienists who are active and strive for change and development as professionals and capable of adapting themselves to the field of dental medicine. In this study, the professional sense and the recognition of the way of students belonging to department of dental hygiene were examined and based on this, a new direction for department of dental hygiene of three-year college was suggested.

        자녀의 구강건강 관심도 및 인지도에 따른 치아우식예방법의 인식과 실천

        Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the awareness of mothers on their children`s oral health and their concern for that by socio- demographic characteristics and the relationship of their awareness of methods of dental-caries prevention to their practice of the methods. Methods: The subjects in this study were 337 guardians of preschoolers at kindergartens and daycare centers. A self-administered survey was conducted from April 25 to May 27, 2011, and the collected data were analyzed by the statistical package SPSS 18.0. Results: 1.Self-rated concern for children`s oral health, 87.7 percent and 12.1 percent replied, So-so. Whether they were working or not and whether they were mainly responsible for child rearing made significant differences to that(p<.05). 2. As to subjective awareness of their children`s oral health, the largest group of the mothers answered So-so. (44.9%) The second replied that their children were in good oral health(40.5%), and the third group in poor oral health(14.2%). 3. The relationship between self-rated concern for their children`s oral health and awareness of methods of caries prevention, statistically significant differences were found according to toothbrushing education and sealant(p<.05). There were no statistically significant differences in practice ,but application of fluoride was the least. 4. The relationship between self-rated awareness for their children`s oral health and awareness of the preventive methods of caries, there were statistically significant gaps in awareness of toothbrushing education(p<.05). In practice, statistically significant gaps were found in practice of toothbrushing education and sugar-intake restriction(p<.01). 5. In regard to the correlation between awareness and practice of the preventive methods of caries, awareness of all the factors involving toothbrushing education, sealant, application of fluoride and restriction of sugar intake had a significant positive correlation to practice of them. Better awareness led to better practice. Conclusions: In order to ensure children`s successful oral health care, more authentic education of how to pre- vent dental caries should be offered by experts such as dental hygienists and dentists. Especially, detailed information on application of fluoride, restriction of sugar intake and pit and sealant should be provided for mothers to help their children to stay away from dental caries.         한국 소재·부품산업의 경쟁력 분석 모델 제안

        The components and materials industry is one of the most valuable sector that led Korea to economic development over the past several decades. More recently, as the finished products' production and assembling capability has been globally equalized, the competitiveness of the components and materials industry has been recognized as the core of the industrial competitiveness.. The extant Literature on the industrial competitiveness has been dominated by the Porter's diamond model, which is a good starting paradigm for analyzing important determinants of industrial competitiveness. However, Porter's diamond model is incomplete, mainly because it is essentially a static one. This article builds on previous work in the analysis of competitiveness by drawing on concepts from the resource-based view, network theory and knowledge-based view to develop a theoretical model for the productivity improvement of components and materials industry of Korea. We suggest that technology, human capital, managerial competence, supplier/customer relationship and international marketing are the key drivers of productivity improvement of components and materials industry.

      • 치과위생사 양성을 위한 치과보철 전처치과정 교육내용의 지향방향

        The purpose of this study is to present some ideas for the direction of educational contents in pre-treatment processes of dental prosthesis for training dental hygienists. The concrete research tasks are to make clear the direction of the assistant role in surgical operation that dental hygienists will have to perform 1) in the actual dental clinic(, that is diagnostic activity and establishment of plans on medical treatment, 2) in the process of making individual tray and temporary crown, and 3) in the process of mouth preparation. This study is done, laying stress on the pre-treatment process according to each step which is performed in the actual dental clinic. And the materials which were used in examining the assistant activities in surgical operation are the books and the research papers, and my own various actual experiences in dental clinic. As the result of the study, I got to conclude that we have to teach the students not only through the theory but also the practical exercise, including the followings in the educational contents ; (1) the educational contents being related to the oral examination should be mainly organized with the examination into the condition of teeth, gingiva, periodontium, occlusion, and so on. (2) the educational contents being related to the inquiry of the clinical history should be mainly organized with the inquiries into the chief complaint, present illness, dental history, and so on. (3) the educational contents being related to the radiographic study should be mainly organized with taking radiograph of root apex, alveolar bone, degree of teeth development, size and form of root, and so on. (4) the educational contents being related to the impression and production of diagnostic cast should be mainly organized with the way of using impression materials and cast materials. (5) the educational contents being related to mounting the articulator of diagnostic cast should be mainly organized with explaining its kinds and the reason of mounting the articulator, and so on. (6) the educational contents being related to preceding examination and analysis of the diagnostic cast should be mainly organized with the oral examination, the inquiry of the clinical history, the impression and production of diagnostic cast, mounting the articulator of diagnostic cast, and so on. (7) the educational contents being related to the treatment plan and the prognosis should be mainly organized with the present condition and the range of treatment plan, and so on. (8) the educational contents being related to the making individual tray and temporary crown should be mainly organized with their kinds and necessity. (9) the educational contents being related to the surgical treatment on the mouth preparation process should be mainly organized with excessive dental caries, root rest, moving teeth, extraction of supernumerary teeth, and impacted tooth, and so on. (10) the educational contents being related to preservation, canal, and treatment in the process of mouth preparation should be mainly organized with the criteria of choosing teeth with problem. (11) the educational contents being related to the periodontal treatment on the mouth preparation process should be mainly organized with mouth hygiene, arrangement of oral condition, calculus removal, oral prophylaxis, and so on. (12) the educational contents being related to the orthodontic therapy on the mouth preparation process should be mainly organized with reforming a row of teeth. (13) the educational contents being related to the bite control on the mouth preparation process should be mainly organized with normal occlusion, abnormal occlusion, and so on. But we also need to have the more attentions about following matters in each number (1), (2), (3), (4), (5), (6), (7), (8), (9), (10), (11), (12), and (13). 1) the examination about the condition of temporomandibular joint and hard and soft palate, the size and the position of tongue, the quantity and quality of saliva, the form of residual ridge, and sticking of frenulum. 2) the inquiry of medical history, physical and mental health, being experience of adaptation insert of denture, and being non-function habit. 3) the way of taking radiograph of, the amount of bone resorption in the environs of remaining teeth and edentulous jaw, the thickness of mucous tissue covering bone, the position of mental foramen, the bone substance, and the sharp bone flap in alveolus. 4) the method of taking various impressions on oral anatomy, and the skill of making a mold which is suited to mounting articulator. 5) the technique of mounting by using the face bow. 6) the ability of fundamental research for preceding examination and analysis of molds. 7) the period and the expense of treatment, the degree of care by the family, and desirable prognosis. 8) the ability and the materials of making individual tray and temporary crown. 9) the skills of tori and exostoses, removal of soft tissue, frenectomy, vesitibuloplasty, and etc. 10) the technique of treatment, and the way of using materials being needed in treatment. 11) the methods of gigivactomy, flap surgery, and plastic surgery. 12) the reciprocal anchorage for prosthetic dentistry, and the periodontal condition in orthodontic therapy. 13) the prognosis of prosthesis after occlusion.
