A hemothorax usually occur, due to injuries to the intercostal and great vessels, pulmonary damage, and sometimes fractured ribs. We report a case in which the hemothorax that occurred, neither intrathoracic injury nor injury to internal thoracic vessels and organs, via lacerated diaphragmatic and liver laceration due to a right upper part of anterior chest stab injury caused by a sharp object. The patient`s general conditions gradually worsened, so chest and abdominal computed tomogram were taken. The abdominal computed tomogram revealed diaphragmatic injuries and bleeding from the lacerated liver. We performed an exploratory laparotomy to control the bleeding from the lacerated liver with simple primary sutures. In addition exploration was performed in the right pleural space through the lacerated diaphragm with a thoracoscopic instrument. There were no bleeding foci in the right pleural space, the vessels, or the lung on the thoracoscopic video. Closure of the lacerated diaphragm was achieved with simple, primary sutures. The postoperative course of the patient was uneventful, and the patient was discharged. (J Korean Soc Traumatol 2010;23:49-52)

N/A The toxic impact of parathion on bagrid catfish (Pseudobagrus firlvidraco) juvenile was examined 96 hr LC_(50) value of parathion estimated as 1.90 mg/L. Chronically, bagrid catfish were exposed for 30 days to concentrations of parathion, i.e. 63, 95, 190 and 380 ㎍/L, representing 3.3, 5.0, 10.0 and 20.0% of the 96 hr LC_(50). Survival rate was significantly affected by the concentration over 63 ㎍/L after 10 days. Growth rate, specific growth rate (SGR) and feed efficiency were reduced in time as concentration dependent manner. Growth rates of the exposed groups were significantly reduced as 28.06-60.63% to the control fish, SGR was decresed as 1.50-4.72% and feed efficiency was declined as 6.10-11.90%. It can be concluded that if P. fulvidraco is chronically exposed to parathion over 63 ㎍/L concentration, the physiological damages might affect growth factors of the fish.
HCB 와 PCBs 에 노출된 나일틸라피아 , Oreochromis niloticus 의 혈액성분의 변화

유용 양식어류인 틸라피아률 대상으로 어체중당 1일 0.05, 0.25및 0.50㎎/㎏의 HCB와 PCBs의 경 구투여에 의해 30일 동안 혈액성상 및 혈액화학적 변동을 조사하였다. HCB의 투여에 의한 틸라피아의 RBC 수는 20일 이후 0.50㎎/㎏, 30일째는 0.25㎎/㎏의 농도, hemoglobin 농도와 hematocrit값은 20일 이후 0.50㎎/㎏ 농도에서 유의한 감소를 나타냈다. PCBs의 투여에 의한 틸라피아의 RBC 수, hemoglobin 농도 및 hematocrit 값은 20일 이후 0.25㎎/㎏ 이상의 농도에서 유의한 감소를 나타냈다. 혈청 무기성분인 calcium, magnesium 및 inorganic phosphorus 농도는 HCB를 투여한 모든 실험에서 뚜렷한 차이가 인정되지 않았다. 또한, PCBs를 투여한 모든 실험에서도 magnesium과 inorganic phosphorus 농도의 변동은 관찰되지 않았으나, calcium 농도는 20일 이후 0.50㎎/㎏ 농도, 30일째는 0.25㎎/㎏ 이상의 농도에서 유의한 감소를 나타냈다. HCB의 경구투여에 의한 혈청 total protein 농도는 30일째 0.50㎎/㎏ 농도에서, PCBs의 경구투여에 의해서는 20일 이후 0.25 ㎎/㎏ 이상의 농도에서 유의하게 감소하였다. HCB 및 PCBs의 경구투여에 의한 glucose 농도는 20일 이후 0.25㎎/㎏ 이상의 농도에서 유의한 증가를 나타냈다. HCB 및 PCBs의 경구 투여에 의한 GOT와 GPT 활성은 20일 이후의 0.50㎎/㎏에서 유의한 증가를 나타냈다. 결론적으로 HCB 및 PCBs의 경구투여에 의한 틸라피아의 혈액화학적 변동은 0.25㎎/㎏ 농도 이상에서 적어도 20일 후부터 영향을 받을 것으로 생각된다. The study was carried out to investigate the changes of haematological constituents induced by dietary exposure of Hexachlorobenzene (HCB) and Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in nile tilapia, Oreochhromis niloticus. The nile tilapia were fed pellet with 0.05, 0.25 and 0.50 ㎎/㎏ body weight/day of HCB and PCBs for 30 days, respectively. HCB (≥0.25 ㎎/㎏) induced a significantly decreased the red blood cell count at 30 days, and the hemoglobin concentration and hematocrit value were significantly decreased after 20 days to 0.50 ㎎/㎏. The diminution of red blood cell count, hemoglobin concentration and hamatocrit value by PCBs was found after 20 days at ≥0.25 ㎎/㎏. The concentrations of calcium decreased significantly at 30 days at ≥0.25 ㎎/㎏ of PCBs-diet. However, magnesium and inorganic phosphorus did not show any noticeable changes in the range of 0.05∼0.50 ㎎/㎏ of HCB and PCBs compared to control group during the experimental period. The low concentration of total protein was observed at the last day of experiment to 0.50 ㎎/㎏ of HCB-diet, while total protein initiated to increase from 20 days at the 0.25 ㎎/㎏ of PCBs-diet. The glucose was significantly increased after 20 days at ≥0.25 ㎎/㎏ of HCB and PCBs. A significant increment GOT and GPT activities was noticed after 20 days at 0.50 ㎎/㎏ of HCB and PCBs. These results indicate that hematological and serum biochemical changes in the nile tilapia by dietary exposure to HCB and PCBs are affected at more than 0.25 ㎎/㎏ after 20 days.
