Residential Efficiency Apartment(Officetel) is originally designed for office itself. Relevant laws for REA are also designed for official use. Therefore, REAs, located to notified area on District cooling and heating only use, should prepare for Absorption Chiller and Compact Heat Exchanger either. In case of office design, Korea District Heating Corporation suggests two options; Various load calculation or using unit load per unit area. Numbers of mechanical designers cite the load per unit area by ‘Cooling Energy Design Standard’ and ‘Heating Energy Design Standard’ which limit the capacity of equipment not to exceed the limitation because of its simplicity of handling. Compared to RTS load calculation, load per unit area method will raise the capacity of absorption chiller excessively. Therefore, this study will compare two different load calculation method and verify these methods with measured data.

However, large number of occupants living in the REAs are using their property for residence. It is well known that single household for studio apartment (one room) and family for multi-bedroom apartment(multiple room). In this study, district cooling patterns of studio apartment and multi-bedroom apartment are going to be analysed based on the chilled water usage.
지역냉·난방 적용 공동주택의 2-pipe 적용 가능성에 대한 검토

The Korean government had announced the 『4<SUP>th</SUP> Group Energy Supply Plan』in 2014. According to this plan, KDHC are willing to extend district cooling user with new apartment construction by installing desiccant cooling system or absorption chiller system. It is well known that applying central heating/cooling system is more expensive than applying local heating/cooling system. Therefore, reducing initial cost for central supplying system is necessary to achieve the goal. In this study, one option, combining heating water pipe and cooling water pipe, will be analyzed with technical review for reducing initial cost; by general comparison between 2-pipe and 4-pipe, use of problem and reviewing pipe sizing.
