도서관 서비스 이용에 관한 연구는 이론적 논의와 실제적 경험을 토대로 이루어져야 한다. 본 연구에서 는, 우리나라의 디지털참고봉사 이용 증진을 위하여, 잠재이용자의 식별, 서비스 주지를 위한 홍보, 사용성 제고를 위한 사이트 개선, 서비스 품질과 만족도 평가 등에 관하여, 선행 연구와 외국의 성공 사례를 고찰함으로써 실행가능한 구체적 방안을 제시하였다. 디지털참고봉사의 기획과 개발 및 활성화에 유용한 정보가 될 것이다. Discussion on the use of the library service should be based on both theoretical research and practical experiences. To increase the usage level of digital reference services in Korea, various aspects of the promotion, including latent user profile, publicity, site accessibility, and evaluation are examined, based on the previous research and overseas successful approaches. Results revealed useful information for planning and implementation.

공공도서관의 지역사회조사 수행 현황과 문제점 및 활성화 방안

우리나라 공공도서관의 지역사회조사 수행 정도와 내용, 방법 등의 현황을 조사하기 위하여 서울 및 수도권 공립 공공도서관 92개관을 대상으로 지역사회조사 관련 설문조사를 실시하였다. 지난 5년 동안 지역사회조사를 수행하였던 도서관은 응답 도서관 전체의 약 70%인 47개관으로 나타났으며, 도서관 당 평균 1.7회 조사하였고, 수행 빈도는 2001년 이후 크게 증가하였다. 그러나 조사내용은 요구조사에 편중되어 있고 방법도 다양하지 못하다. 예산, 시간, 능력 부족 등 수행상의 문제점이 식별되었으며, 활성화 방안으로 공공도서관계 전반의 인식 전환, 행정적, 재정적 지원, 기준 수립, 교육과 훈련, 정보 공유 등을 제안하였다. To examine the current states of community survey performance with its contents and methods, a questionnaire survey was made for 92 public libraries in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon area. 47 libraries(70%) have conducted community survey during last 5 years. The frequency has increased since 2001. Considering the content item as separate entity, the average is 1.7 times per library. The main purpose of the survey was to understand the resident's need and a questionnaire survey method was applied dominantly. Problems involved with the lack of budget, time, and the librarian's ability are identified as obstacles. Based on the analysis, recommendations such as acknowledgement, administrations and financial support, establishment of standards, education and train information are suggested to promote the community survey.

인터넷포털 사이트에서 제공되고 있는 지식검색 질문응답서비스의 성능을 평가하기 위하여, 이용량이 많은 상위 네 가지 사이트를 대상으로 질문응답 데이터를 체계적으로 표집하였다. 디지털 참고봉사의 평가 틀을 적용하여 질문의 수와 유형, 응답률, 적시성, 정확성, 만족도를 측정하여 분석함으로써 서비스 현황을 진단하고 개선방안을 제시하였다. To evaluate the performance of the question and answer services provided through the internet portals in Korea, question and answer transcript of four major services were sampled systematically. Using the digital reference evaluation framework, number and types of questions, response rate, timeliness, accuracy for information questions and user satisfaction were measured and analyzed. The level of the service performance is identified and compared. The conclusion includes suggestions for service improvement.

The study attempted to determine if the effectiveness of bibliographic 'instruction would be different among student groups, divided by grade levels, major areas of study, and the level of library skills posessed before the instruction. The focal point of the investigation was the degree of improvement demonstrated by the changes in mean score of each group after taking bibliographic instruction. Sangmyong Women's University students who have taken the bibliographic instruction course for credit were the subjects of the study. Students' library skills were measured prior to the bibliographic instruction and post-test was followed. And the measured was based on the 'Library skills Test' developed by the Illinois Association of College and Research Libraries. Three hypotheses in the study were tested statistically by ANOVA. The followings are the results of the analysis: (1) There were no significant differences in bibliographic instruction effectiveness among student groups divided by grade levels; (2) There were significant differences (p<.01) in bibliographic instruction effectiveness among student groups divided by major areas of study. Bibliographic instruction was more effective for humanities or social sciences majors than for performing arts or physical education majors; (3) There were significant differences (p<.001) in bibliographic instruction effectiveness among student groups divided by the initial library skills. Obviously, bibliographic instruction was more effective for the students in bottom quartile than those in top quartile or middle quartiles. Finally, limitations of the study, recommendations based on the results and area for future research are briefly examined.

평가에 관한 선행연구 결과를 종합적으로 검토하고 우리나라 도서관 환경을 고려하여 대학도서관 서비스의 질적 평가를 위한 모형을 개발하였다. 구체적으로 도서관 이용과 이용의 질에 관하여 7개 부문의 25가지 평가지표를 설정하고 각 지표별 데이타 수집 방법과 측정과정 그리고 기준과 평가척도를 제시하였다. 또한 평가의 실행과 후속연구를 위한 방안을 제언하였다. Based on the results of previous evaluation studies, a quality based evaluation model applicable to academic libraries in Korea was developed. Focusing on output measures, 25 indicators in 7 catagories are defined. For each indicators, data collection method along with measuring process is established. And norms and evaluation scales are also provided. The concluding section suggests several areas for implementation and future research.

선행연구를 고찰하여, 정보리터러시 관련 교육에 대한 노출, 각종 정보원에 대한 경험, 정보 이용 관련 교수진의 조언, 개인적 배경 등을 정보리터러시에 영향을 미치는 독립변인으로, 정보리터러시 태도와 실제 능력을 종속 변인으로 추출하고, 대학생을 대상으로 한 측정도구를 고안하여 조사를 수행한 후, 관련 요인의 현황과 요인간 관계 및 영향력 정도를 통계적으로 분석하였다. 정보리터러시의 개인별 집단별 차이, 낮은 도서관이용교육 노출과 교수진의 조언 등이 문제점으로 드러났으며, 컴퓨터와 인터넷 교육, 각종 정보원 이용 경험 성별과 전공계열 등이 정보리터러시에 영향을 미치는 요인으로 입증되었다. 연구결과에 기초하여 정보리터러시 향상을 위한 사회의 인식전환, 이용교육의 실질적 변화, 고등교육기관 및 관련 협회의 유기적 협력과 노력 등이 제안되었다. The study Is attempted to identify the factors affecting information literacy among undergraduate students. Through literature review, exposure to related education, use experiences in information resources, advice of the faculty, individual background are considered as variables affecting information literacy attitudes and performance. A questionnaire was devised and collected data from 628 students. Then 24 hypotheses were tested statistically. Descriptive analysis shows differences in information literacy, lower exposure to library instruction, and lack of the faculty advice. Results of the hypotheses testing shows computer and internet education, use experience of the various information resources, gender and major areas of study as factors affecting information literacy. Based on the results, recommendations are suggested to improve the information literacy.
