LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) engines for commercial vehicles or recreation vehicles (RV) have pros and cons comparing with gasoline engines. The advantages are inexpensive fuel price. lower exhaust emission and engine wears. But there are disadvantages like conversion costs. lack of engine power, poor fuel consumption and abnormal ignition so called backfire. Generally excessive air fuel ratio or lack of ignition energy causes the backfire of LPG engines. .<br/> This study investigates backfire being generated by engine operating conditions on chassis dynamometer. It also includes investigation about the functions of vehicle control system when the backfire is occurred.<br/>

금속분말을 연료로 하는 연소기 개발에 있어 발생하는 문제점 중에 하나는 알루미나 slag 처리이다. 연소기 내부에 Water film을 형성시킴으로써 금속분말 연소기의 문제점을 해결할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다. 이를 위한 선행연구로 water film의 형성 조건에 대한 실험을 수행하였다. 실험 모델에 대하여 물 분사 속도가 증가할수록 원형 모델에 대한 water fim 각도가 작아져, 약 10 m/s이상에서 완전한 water film이 형성되는 것을 알 수 있었다. One of the issues that occurs in development of a combustor using Metal Powder as a fuel is an alumina slag processing. A water film formed inside the combustor is expected to be able to solve this issue. The experiments about the formation of a water film were carried out as a preliminary study. As the tangential velocity of water jet is increasing, the angle derivation from horizontal is decreasing for the test model. Results of the experiments showed that the thin water film on the inner surface appeared at the velocity of 10~15 m/s.

A lot of research has been done on internal combustion engine to reduce fuel consumption and emission. One field is being researched today is to recuperate from kinetic energy to electric energy as a vehicle deceleration status. More energy recuperation can be reduced fuel consumption. To recuperate the more electric energy, this study was applied to the high power alternator and AGM battery device and optimized voltage control. This kind of system is new generation alternator management system. The result of fuel economy test for this system showed an about 0.8~4% improvement effect.

A lot of research has been done on power train cooling system to reduce fuel consumption and emission. Known engine cooling techniques are an electric water pump with an electric thermostat, an electric water valve, a clutch water pump and so on. The common approaches to enhance fuel economy among these techniques are fast warm up and control coolant temperature high. This paper discuss the amount of fuel economy enhancements on a engine with fast warm up technique, control coolant temperature high, control automatic transmission fluid temperature high.

미크론 크기의 알루미늄 분말과 물 혼합물의 기초 연소 특성 연구를 진행하였다. 대기압 환경에서 연소속도에 영향을 미치는 당량비와 혼합물 밀도를 변화시켜 알루미늄-물 혼합물의 연소 특성 연구를 진행하였다. 이를 바탕으로 고압 환경하에서의 알루미늄 분말과 물 혼합물에 대한 연소 특성을 연구하기 위한 장치를 설계하였다. 고압 환경에서 2~50기압 범위에서는 압력에 따른 연소속도의 영향은 나노 분말의 연소 특성과 동일하였으나, 50~70기압 범위에서는 급격한 연소속도 증가 현상이 관찰되었다. 당량비에 따른 실험에서는 산화제 과잉(eq=1.5) 조건에서는 50기압 이상에서는 연소가 진행되지 않았다. The basic study for combustion characteristics of micron-sized aluminum powder with water suspension was carried out. Under atmospheric pressure, the combustion characteristics of aluminum powder with water suspension was studied by adjust the equivalent ratio and the density of a mixture which effect on burning rate. Based on atmospheric pressure’s result, the device for the combustion characteristics of aluminum powder with water suspension under high-pressure environment was developed. In the pressure range from 2 to 50 atm the effect of pressure to burning rate was same as the case of nano-aluminum with water suspension, but the pressure range from 50 to 70 atm the sharp increase in burning rate was observed. In the experiment of varying the equivalence ratio, the combustion did not proceed in the condition of excess oxidizer (eq = 1.5).

In recent years, many automotive companies and researchers say that fuel consumption is one of the most important factor to evaluate cars, because of the depletion of fossil fuel like petroleum. From the this viewpoint, we focus on the air conditioning system to reduce the fuel consumption. Also, we apply the double pipe heat exchanger in the air conditioning system to improve the cooling performance and reduce fuel consumption. So we have to improve the cooling performance of the car"s cooling system. This study is that to improve car"s cooling system performance prediction using 1-D simulation.

하드웨어 효율적인 확률 PWM 기반 LED 전광판 제어 방법

In this paper, we propose a new PWM-dimming technique for an LED-type display to consider hardware cost. The proposed method is based on the stochastic PWM generation to reduce the peak current consumption of system with affordable hardware size. Experimental results show that the amount of current consumption and current variance of the proposed LED control module decreases remarkably just with slightly additional hardware overhead compared with an LED control module including a simple PWM generator. This means the EMI and thermal problem in a large-size LED display system can be resolved efficiently.

VTMS(Vehicle Thermal Management System) reduces heat loss of internal combustion engine by using active control cooling system. For VTMS control, Some mechanical cooling parts are necessary to change electric cooling parts. Because mechanical cooling parts can not control actively. Changing cooling parts for the active control are electric thermo-stat, electric water pump, electric cooling fan, AAF and etc. Of these Items, AAF is a device which decreases the aerodynamics of the vehicle by changing the shape of the front of the vehicle. It has a significant effect to decrease the aerodynamics of the vehicle. But it reduces cooling effect due to reducing the flow of air which supplied to the radiator. For this reason, VTMS algorithm which control cooling parts includes AAF control algorithm. In this study, AAF, electric water pump and electric thermo-stat are installed at test vehicle to configure the VTMS. And VTMS algorithm which control cooling parts is constructed. It is analyzed to confirm the operation through the experimental results. Also fuel economy improvement is confirmed.

There are two types of cooler for cooling charged air. Air cooled air cooler and water cooled air cooler are those. Air cooled air cooler has simple installation and low price. So it is widely used. But it has low cooling efficiency at repeated rapid acceleration driving. Because it is cooled by air which has lower Specific-Heat than water. And cause of long path, it doesn"t have good turbo lag. Water cooled air cooler has complicated installation and high price. However it has high cooling efficiency at repeated rapid acceleration driving. Because it is cooled by water which has higher Specific-Heat than air. Also, it has good turbo lag. Because it has shorter path than air cooled air cooler. In this study, confirm the cooling efficiency and improvement of turbo lag on the turbo system which Intercooler system is changed air cooled air cooler to water cooled air cooler.
