In designing and building a naval ship, shock resistance design and test evaluation for the major equipment to be on-board the naval ship is one of the essential factors. At present, domestic institutes are conducting shock safety evaluation applying MIL-S-901D, a US Navy shock test specification. However, as it is not easy to check the impulse transmitted to the equipment during an actual test conducted in accordance with MIL-S-901D because MIL-S-901D shock test does not require measurement of impulse, equipment manufacturers are experiencing much difficulty in shock resistance design and manufacture. Accordingly, in this study, we checked the impulse generated by a Light Weight Shock Machine using dummies of different weights based on the NRL report, which we intend to utilize as the basic data for shock resistance design and analysis in the future.
