이민원 ( Min Won Lee ),김영균 ( Young Gyun Kim ),백준오 ( Jun Oh Paek ),김정수 ( Joung Soo Kim ),유희준 ( Hee Joon Yu ) 대한피부과학회 2013 대한피부과학회지 Vol.51 No.8

Necrobiosis lipoidica (NL) is a chronic granulomatous skin disease typified by indurated plaques on the shin. Although this condition is strongly associated with diabetes mellitus, its etiology and pathogenesis remains unknown. Localization of NL to the lower extremities suggests that local injury may be a contributing factor to the disease. A healthy 38-year-old man presented with localized erythematous to yellowish plaques on his right thigh that developed over several years. The lesion developed in the scar where suture had been done for laceration repair 25 years ago. A biopsy specimen showed degenerated collagen with surrounding palisading granulomas. Numerous lymphocytes and multinucleated giant cells were infiltrated throughout the reticular dermis. Plasma cells aggregation was found at the dermal subcutaneous junction. Childhood granulomatous periorificial dermatitis is a distinctive granulomatous form of perioral dermatitis, characterized by a monomorphous, small papular eruption around the mouth, nose, and eyes. It occurs primarily in prepubertal children. We present a case of a 12-year-old boy with multiple, asymptomatic, erythematous papules on the perioral, perinasal and periorbital areas for 5 months. Histopathological examination revealed upper dermal and perifollicular granulomatous infiltrate. After using oral dapsone 25 mg daily for 7 weeks, the skin lesions were considerably improved. But, 3 months after discontinuence of dapsone, exacerbation of the skin lesions occurred. (Korean J Dermatol 2011;49(11):1002∼1005)

        대한제국의 장충사업과 그 이념

        이민원(Lee, Min-Won) 동북아시아문화학회 2012 동북아 문화연구 Vol.1 No.33

This paper focuses on the national memorial enterprise of the Empire of Korea(大韓帝國). Since the establishment of Korean Empire, Emperor Gojong had tried to cherish the memory of the soldiers and public officials who died for the nation during or after Sino-Japanese War. Jangchungdan(獎忠壇) in Seoul and Mochungdan(慕忠壇) in Chongju were the examples of the memorial enterprise of Korea. During the Sino-Japanese War Korean military authority was in dilemma between Donghak peasent army(東學農民軍) and Japanese military authority. Japanese minister who was supported by Japanese military power had a hold on the Korean cabinet and royal court. Korean king was a kind of prisoner at royal court. Especially just after the assassination of Queen Min by the Japanese in October 8th 1895, King Gojong(高宗) was in life-threathening conditions. These urgent external and internal situations provided Korean king"s flight to Russian Legation in Seoul February 11, 1896. One year staying at Russian legation, King Gojong moved to Gyungungung February 20, 1897. Korean government become to restore the order in Seoul and local area. In October 12th 1897 King Gojong acceded to the throne of emperor and declared the new name of Korea as Daehan Empire, that is Korean Empire. It reflected the hope and new philosophy of the Korean people and officials for the independence and development of Korea. At the shrine of the Jangchungdan and Mochungdan there were the spirit tablets of private soldiers as well as high officials and military officers of Korea. All of those were fallen by Donghak peasent army and Japanese soldiers in 1895. In the traditional society the rank and file soldiers were almost excluded at the memorial altar because hiararchical society did not permit the private soldiers to share the altar or shrine with high officials and generals. That is the difference of the memorial ideology for the patriots between Joseon dynasty and Korean Empire.

        조선특사의 러시아외교와 金得鍊

        李玟源(Lee Min-Won) 역사실학회 2007 역사와실학 Vol.33 No.-

This paper focuses on the Korean Mission’s negotiation with Russia in 199) and the role of Kim Deuk-nyon(金得鍊) who was one of the last official Chinese interpreters of Korea. May 26, 1896 there was the coronation of Nicholas Ⅱ, the last Tsar of Russia in Moscow. The special envoy and minister plenipotentiary of Korea, Min Young-Hwan(閔泳煥) and his suite attended the imperial ceremony with curiosity and awe. There were also many famous envoys from allover the world, such as Li Hung-Chang(李鴻章) of China and Yamagata Aritomo(山縣有朋) of Japan. Korean envoy stayed in Russia almost 3 months, negotiating with Russian ministers, visiting many places, such as public institutes, modem factories and museums. On returning way to Korea they took on the course of Trans-Siverian Railway. They were welcom to Korean immigrants when they passed through cities alongside Amur River (or Heilungchang River). They come back to Seoul late October 1896 via vladivostok. The main object of Korean mission stressed on acquiring positive support from Russia, such as military and financial help. Those were most important to Korean King Kojong who stayed at Russian legation against Japanese military menace. However Russian authority didn’t have any idea for that kind of support to Korea, partly because of the Japanese and English interest in Korea and Manchuria, and also the weak financial condition of Russia. Russia was interested in the construction of Trans-Siberian Railway which was launched out in 1891 by Alexander Ⅲ. Minister Min was in despair at the result of the negotiations. However he carne back to Korea with 13 Russian military instructors who drilled almost 800 Korean soldiers for the guard of new palace of Korea. Thanks to the palace guards King Kojong could move to the new palace from Russian legation and ascend the throne of emperor in October 1897. Traditionally the group of official Chinese interpreters was a kind of pioneers in Korean Society. They were experts in the foreign affairs, markets. They had talent in business. They were blessed with knowledge, wealth and specialty in foreign language. They could preserve their identity by themselves in traditional Korean society. However the role and function of the official interpreters became to change day by day owing to the introduction of western culture and system to East Asian countries such as Korea with breaking off the Chinese world order. In this period of great change Korean envoys to Russia accomplished their mission. In 1896’s, Korean mission to Russia we can find the change of the role of traditional official interpreter. In case of Kim Deuk-Nyon, even though he was an official Chinese interpreter, he had never had chance to do his original role such as interpreting and arranging in this mission. Instead of it he memorized daily schedule of works and activity of minister Min and his suite in detail except for the secret negotiations between minister Min and Russian authorities. He left several writings about the mission. Those are Hwankuilgi(環?日記), Pua kijeong(赴俄記程) and Hwanku umcho(環??艸). The writings of Kim Deuk-Nyon contain very important information about modem civilization of Europe and the industry, natural resources, manufacture, social system, education of Russia. These also explain the situation of Trans-Siberian Railway under construction, natural resources of Siberia, with the condition of Korean immigrants in the East Asian area of Russia Even though Kim Deuk-Nyon could not lead the mission as traditional official Chinese interpreters did in many cases, he did his role more smartly by writing the voyage of the mission from the start to the end in detail with excellent literary skill.

        이민원 ( Lee Min Won ) 한국문명학회 2019 문명연지 Vol.20 No.1

Jangjiyeon(張志淵, 1864~1921) was one of the most famous journalists of Korea from late 19th centuty to early 20th century. With Parkeunsik (朴殷植) and Moonilpyong(文一平), he was also one of the influential and leading enlightened intellectuals of modern Korea even though his scholarly carrier was based on confucianism. This paper focuses to find Jangjiyeon's viewpoint about King Gojong's ascending to the throne of Korean Emperor and also the declaration of Korean Empire in 1897. What is the meaning of Korean Empire in the long history of Korea? Most of the general people including confucian scholars during the Joseon society believed their country was not an independent one because the ruler of Korea was a king, not an emperor. Jangjiyeon's idea originated from the deep-rooted Korean's belief 'without emperor, there is no independence'. He was a leading academic bureaucrats who supported the logic and cause for King Gojong's ascending to the throne of emperor and the declaration of Korean Empire.
