        As mentioned above,we know that the intake of food by people in our country has nearly approched the encouraged amount of nutrition. Based on this fact, many nutritionists conclude that there is no health impediment due to malnutrition, for the nutritive condition of Korean people today is much better than that in the past,and the intake of food and the encouraged amount of nutrition are nearly balanced. Nevertheless, we should not overlook a few points:imperfection of the encouraged amount of nutrition itself;probable imbalance of nutrition due to excessive intake of manufactured food and fast food;the menace to human health due to theaggravation of environmental pollution ; and probable malnutrition due to the destruction of nutrients during the process of cooking because of imperfect education for nutrition. Therefore, in order to maintain the necessary balance of perfact nutrition, we should duly consider the following points : 1. Elimination of environmental pollution. 2. Consumption of food and drink with natural nutrition(without the process of manufacture and cooking) if possible. 3. Reduction of the intake of manufactureed food as much as possible. 4. Consumption of high fiber food and low carbohydrate food if possible. Putting aside various points of view,we can see that the condition of human health is always threatened by various factor even though the dietary life for human health has nearly approached the encouraged amount of nutrition. Therefore, we should empasize the necessity of preventive measure or improvement of supplemental food for human health.

        북한의 금강산댐 건설로 말미암아 일찍이 서산대사(1520-1604년) 가 우리나라 4대명산(동 금강산.서 구월산. 남 지리산. 북 묘향산)의 하나로 꼽은 금강산이 이그러진 모습으로 떠올려짐은 자연을 사랑하는 우리민족에게는 큰 충격이 아닐 수 없다. 본지는 몇가지 자료와 함께 저명한 소설가인 이정수씨 께서 특별기고해주신 금강산탐승의 "수상"을 함께담아 특집으로 묶어보았다.

      • Role of Calcium and Protein Kinase C in Platelet Activating Factor-induced Activation of Peritoneal Macrophages

        입자 또는 용해성 자극 물질들은 칼슘 이동의 변화와 protein kinase C의 활성화를 초래하여 식 세포의 반응을 자극하는 것으로 추정하고 있다. 이에 비해서 protein kinase C가 활성화되면 호중구에서 agonist에 의한 세포 칼슘 농도의 증가가 억제된다고 보고하고 있다. PAF는 peritoneal macrophage에서 세포내 칼슘 농도를 용량에 따라 증가시켰으며 칼슘의 유출이 동반되었다. PAF에 의한 세포내 칼슘 농도의 증가는 TMB-8, verapamil과 TTX의 영향을 받지 않았다. TEA는 PAF에 의한 세포내 칼슘 이동을 자극하였으며 세포내 칼슘 농도의 감소를 지연시켰다. 5mM EGTA는 거의 완전히 PAF에 의한 세포내 칼슘 이동을 억제하였다. PAF의 첨가 후에 세포막 투과성은 반응 5분까지 현저하게 증가하였으며 이후 느리게 증가하였다. PAF에 의한 LDH 유리는 EGTA와 TMB-8에 의하여 약간 감소하였다. PAF에 의하여 자극된 superoxide 생성은 EGTA, TMB-8과 verapamil에 의하여 억제되었으나 TTX와 TEA의 영향은 받지 않았다. PAF에 의한 세포내 칼슘 농도의 증가, 세포막 투과성의 증가와 superoxide 생성은 IQSP, chlorpromazine과 propranolol에 의하여 억제되었다. PAF에 의한 LDH 유리는 chlorpromazine에 의하여 유의하게 그리고 propranolol에 의하여 다소 적게 억제되었다. PMA 전처리 후에 macrophage에서 세포내 칼슘 농도의 상승과 LDH 유리에 대한 PAF의 자극 효과는 유의하게 감소되었다. 이상의 결과로 부터 PAF는 세포내 칼슘 농도를 증가시키고 protein kinase C를 활성화시킴에 의하여 마우스 peritoneal macrophage에 자극 작용을 나타낼 것으로 시사된다. Protein kinase C를 미리 활성화시키면 macrophage 반응에 대한 PAF의 자극 작용은 억제될 것으로 추정된다. Particulate or soluble stimuli appear to stimulate phagocytic cell's response by the change of $Ca^{2+}$ mobilization and by the activation of protein kinase C. In contrast, it is reported that activation of protein kinase C could attenuate agonist-stimulated elevation of $Ca^{2+}i$ in neutrophils. PAF elicited an increase of $Ca^{2+}i$ in peritoneal macrophages in a dose dependent fashion and $Ca^{2+}$ extrusion was accompanied. PAF-induced elevation of $Ca^{2+}i$ was not affected by TMB-8, verapamil and TTX. TEA stimulated PAF-induced mobilization of $Ca^{2+}i$ and delayed lowering of $Ca^{2+}i$. Five mM EGTA almost completely inhibited PAF-induced mobilization of $Ca^{2+}i$. After the addition of PAF, membrane permeability was markedly increased up to 5 min and then slowly increased. PAF-induced LDH release was slightly decreased by EGTA plus TMB-8. PAF-stimulated superoxide generation was inhibited by EGTA, TMB-8 and verapamil but not affected by TTX and TEA. PAF-induced elevation of $Ca^{2+}i$, increased membrane permeability and superoxide generation were inhibited by IQSP, chlorpromazine and propranolol. PAF-induced LDH release was significantly inhibited by chlorpromazine and minimally decreased by propranolol. After the pretreatment with PMA, the stimulatory effect of PAF on the elevation of $Ca^{2+}i$ and LDH release in macrophages was significantly decreased. These results suggest that PAF may exert the stimulatory action on peritoneal macrophages of mouse by the elevation of $Ca^{2+}i$ and by the activation of protein kinase C. Preactivation of protein kinase C appears to attenuate the stimulatory action of PAF on macrophage response.

      • 잔자갈 充塡 浸漬濾床의 設計에 관한 硏究

        The design methology for the submerged biological filter packed with gravels was studied according to the treatment characteristics of the wastewater by the filter, and obtained results are as follows; l.The Suitable gravel sizes to be packed in the filter is about 11㎜ in diameters. 2.The optimal circulation ratio of the treated wastewater is about 20. 3.The relationahip of the BOD remoral ratio(r) versus BOD volumetric loading (Lv) is as folowing equation. r(%) = 100 - K Lv where, K is a constant for the treatment conditions of the filter. 4.Making use of the Lv value of the above equation, the filter volume can be designed. 5.The aeration facilitions are designable by equating oxygen requirement of the biological filter to the oxygenation capacity of aeration facilities. 6.The rational design of whole filter system can be achieved by the reasonable design of each filter details, layout of filters and accompning facilities such as pipelines, pumps and blowers etc..

      • 카누선수들의 스포츠 가치관에 관한 조사연구

        This study was undertaken to discuss canoeists' value orientation toward sport. 223 canoeists reported their value systems on Sport Value Orientation Inventory. The implications of the study are as follows; 1. High school canoeists were more concerned with good manners (82.8%), spiritual strength (78.8%). steady effort (72.8%) and hard training (65.6%), while college and adult canoeists were more related to privacy (86.1%), good manners (79.2%),spiritual spirit (76.4%) and moral cultivation (72.2%). Significant statistical differences were indicated between high school canoeists and college/adult canoeists in hard training privacy, ability-oriented value, sport-oriented life. 2. Male kayak canoeists were more likely to value strongly good manners (83.5%), spiritual strength (73.4%), moral cultivation (71.6%) and steady effort (70.6%), while canadian canoeists were more concerned with spiritual strength (87.5%), good manners (85.0%), steady effort (70.0%), privacy (70.0%). Female kayak canoeists were more related to spiritual strength (79.7%), good manners (77.0%), hard training (71.6%) and nationalism (70.3%). 3. Elite canoeists were more concerned with good manners (87.1%), moral cultivation (82.3%), spiritual strength (79.0%) and sport nationalism (77.4%) while adult canoeists valued strongly good manners (79.5%), spiritual strength (77.6%), and steady effort (71.4%). There was a statistically significant difference between elite and adult canoeists in moral cultivation and sport nationalism. 4. In general canoeists were more likely to value strongly good manners (81.6%), spiritual strength (78.0%), privacy (69.5%), steady effort (68.2%), moral cultivation (67.3%), sport nationalism (65.0%) an hard training (62.3%), and were less concerned with freedom (15.2%) and privacy (16.6%).
