T. S. Eliot 의 시에 나타난 기독교 구원관 : Four Quartets를 중심으로
황철암 충북대학교 인문과학연구소 1989 人文學誌 Vol.4 No.1
In $quot; The Waste Land Eliot had a pessimistic attitude toward the spiritual sterility of Western civilization. This view is particularly constant in $quot; The Hollow Men$quot; of 1925. In early poems we can often find the images of death, dryness, and the protagonist's frustration in reality and spiritual agony. But after his conversion, the central theme of his poems moved to a view of life-in-death and spiritual redemption as he took a more optimistic view on life. He tried to find $quot;autumnal serenity$quot; in the hope that man can be redeemed by continually communicating with God. This theme culminates in Four Quartets in 1943. The whole theme of Four Quarsets is how we can escape from the consciousness of successive time and stand outside time's process, and how we can reach God, $quot; the Still Point$quot; who is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the Temporal and the Eternal, and how we can be redeemed through Christ's Love, the $quot;Incarnetion$quot;. Eliot teaches us the way to $quot;the Still Point$quot;. which also makes it possible to co-exist the moment and the eternity. In this thesis my purpose is to explore the time conception and the spiritual redemption through Christ's Love in Four Quartets of T. S. Eliot as a Christan poet.

A Reading of William Blake`s " The Tyger "
황철암 충북대학교 인문과학연구소 2001 人文學誌 Vol.22 No.1

Eliot's life and poetry begins with scepticism and conflict about his family's religion, Unitarianism. His doubt and subsequent conflict about the religion caused sensitive young Eliot to wander about, until he finally hesitated $quot;on the doorstep of the Absolute,$quot; but the various sufferings and frustrations encountered in his life and the consequent dependence on and belief in the Absolute became part of the process of developing Eliot's spiritual discipline and greatly influenced his conversion to Anglicanism in 1927. In this thesis my purpose is to pursue Eliot's $quot;formation of spiritual self$quot; from his earlier youth to the period of Harvard University(1910),

黃哲岩 한국현대영어영문학회 1982 현대영어영문학 Vol.21 No.1
The whole theme of the "Four Quartets" is how we can escape from the consciousness of successive time and stand outside the time's process, and how we can reach God, "the still point" who is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, and how we can be redeemend through Christ's Love. Eliot teaches us the way to the "still point", which also makes it possible to co-exist the moment and the eternity. In this thesis my purpose is to explore the time conception of T.S.Eliot's in his latest poem, "Four Quartets".
