Objectives; The purposes of this research are to suggest necessary advancements in patients and caregiver management by verifying the difficulties faced by caregiver and the unit through basic patient status analysis conducted by ROK Army's Patient Support Team (PST), and to introduce the roles and responsibilities there of. Methods; Analysis was conducted on PST's 62 cases which were directly visited and counseled in their respective hospitals in 2019. Results; 26 patients (42%) were in severe conditions, the average treatment days were 52.7 days and 39 patients (63%) were hospitalized in ICU. 49 patients (79%) were cared by their families, which increases family's financial and psychological burden. indeed, 51 cases in the meanime, were getting administrative and personnel supports provided by the unit, which increases demands in long and short term patient supports. PST conducted 284 cases of maneuver counseling in 2019. It shows that family's demands included hospital fee, caretaker fee, equipments fee, punishments on the perpetrators, and financial recompense. The unit suffered from financial problems caused by supporting family's accommodation fee along with manpower shortage for on-site officer, administrative, and transportation support. Conclusion; The army must provide dedicated supports to the civilians serving in the military to fulfill their duties to serve the nation and receive adequate care in sufferings for their safe return back to their units and society. PST must take heed to the voices from the ground and establish activity database to contribute to the advancements of military medicine and welfare measures.
